How will you survive the summer drought?

I could honestly replay MGS4 and DQIV DS for the rest of the year and probably be satisfied.

But I do have a few older titles I've never gotten around to finishing (Chrono Cross, Valkyrie Profile, etc.) so I'm good to go.

Summer drought? Maybe of you don't own a PS3, 360, or a gaming PC.

:lol OP didn't even come back after first post. Probably shat himself

I'm pretty much Wii and DS only at the moment, and there's certainly no indication of summer drought going on right now, at least for me. Jeebus. It's more of the opposite, really. I doubt I'll be able to really appreciate all the games I buy.

Ah well, to each his own.

Who can keep up with new game releases? I have plenty of stuff I need to play more.

Just off the top of my head, on the shelf now,

GTA IV
Hot Shots Golf
Oblivion (yes, still)
Civ 4
Orange Box

I won't even notice a summer drought.

if there was a drought, what's to survive?

Bitch on the forum about it and then go outside, take a shower, do something healthy or some shit.

I WONT BE ABLE TO PLAY VIDEO GAMES FOR THREE MONTHS OR SEE WALL-E OR TDK :( :( :( :( FUCK ALL OF YOU

Im working at Yellowstone National Park all summer, and the above is the only thing about the situation that sucks.

There is no summer drought. Particularly for the DS.

Not that it matters anyway, I've got enough shit that isn't games-related to do that I don't really need to focus on new-releases. I'm content with my backlog as it is.

I'm kind of looking forward to Disgaea DS though, I never played it before so if the price is right then I'll bite.

ok so then it's how will you handle the summer drought, and you might as well hold that conversation with yourself for all it matters for everyone else here

go outside and stop smelling is what i reccomend

As soon as I finish GTA IV I'll probably try Call of Duty 4 since GTA has taught me to survive without inverting the X axis. Then Wipeout HD will come out, then MGS4 will come out, and if I need something between MGS4 and whatever else comes after it, I might give UT3 another shot. We'll see

Oh I also forgot about echochrome, that will fill in the gaps pretty nicely I hope

Gamers are probably one of the more uptight and unlikable groups of people.

Why are people indignant? If you're not facing drought conditions this summer, huzzah. But to act like it's a personal slight when others are facing a drought is comic. Do they see it as a slight against their taste? "How dare you suggest these games I'm coveting aren't good by showing no interest in them!"

Jesus. Go outside people. :lol

I think this has been one of the most awesome first quarters ever. Burnout Paradise, No More Heroes, Devil May Cry 4, Smash Brothers Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, GTA IV, Ninja Gaiden Sigma.

I still haven't played all of the games I wanted to try from holiday '07. There are still great games coming out in June, July and August.

Anybody who can't find anything to play are either way too picky, or are in dire need of some life priority readjustment.

I'll look at my 30+ game backlog and then go the fuck outside and enjoy the nice weather.

Who even play games anymore? I post on Gaf instead of gaming
I'm only half joking
.

Summer drought? What's a summer drought? I don't buy every videogame that appears on the shelves (can't afford it), so when the so-called "summer drought" comes, there's still dozens, probably even hundreds of games from years gone-by that I still have not played.

In my world, there is no such thing as a "summer drought".

I think the issue is more like, for the first time in recent memory, there are so many titles coming out this summer, in every genre from action to puzzle to RPG to what have you, on every system currently available in the US, at every level from huge blockbuster down to console downloadable services and niche indie games, that it's almost mind-boggling to imagine that someone really can't find anything to play in all of that.

I think the summer release schedule becomes lean after Gaiden II and MGS 4 release. From that point on it's filled with rehashes and B-grade games. On the other hand it's a hell of a lot better than last summer. I'll concede that in a hot second.

No thanks

you could try and get layed. totally something healthy.

anyway my summer will include much of that and also a new PS3, the usual AAA titles, force unleashed(sept), maybe haze, and a crappp load of backlogged PS2/PSP/PS3 titles (well whatever i can afford). a couple of road trips, alcohol, MJ(best girl of all), a little beach, several shows, anime/comic conventions, etc...

MGS 4, Battlefield: Bad Co. (provided the PS3 version is tight), Soul Caliber 4, and catching up (really picking up) titles I want to play but haven't bought yet: God of War 2, Dark Sector, GTA: Prologue, Tomb Raider: Anniversary, Devil May Cry 4.

Hmmm I could try out public sex with my woman, she's been trying to convince me forever but I prefer it in the privacy of the house where I can slap that ass

How will I survive...well, there's MGS4, MGO that comes with it, Super Street Fighter II HD Remix and Soul Calibur 4. Not to mention the huge backlog of PS2 RPGs I still have (which I may or may not sell in the next week...).

I'll be ok. =)

What? Call of Juarez is awesome.

the story and atmosphere is awesome in a rediculous way (this is why I plan on finishing it)

but the gameplay mechanics are broken and annoying sometimes. I guess it's not a CRAPPY game, but it's just not A material.
