How would play Gamecube games on the Wii?

boyshine said:
There are a lot of Wii owners that never owned a GameCube. This release is for those who never played the original, and don't want to go eBay hunting for a copy of the original game, controllers and memory cards. Also, easy money for Capcom.

Everthings wrong there till you get to the last sentence.

There were clearly not enough people that played REmake becaus it was on the GC now on the Wii with the bigger installed base more people will have access to this masterpiece.

Classic books and movies are always seeing reprints why shouldn't it be possible for games?

Is thia a joke thread?
And people talking about Resident Evil (1) on Wii..when it was released like a month ago..and it's a direct port on 4:3, no remade visuals, no stretched to 16:9..

????

People seem to forget this is Capcom we're talking about. The very same ones that did as-straight-as-possible ports of RE2 and RE3 for Dreamcast, PC and GameCube. I believe Sony had a clause forbiding PS1->PS2 direct ports, otherwise they would've done PS2 versions as well.

The GC wasn't exactly a success, so Capcom doing straight ports when the originals are perfectly playable via BC in order to cash in in the bigger userbase is a no-brainer. I think they at least added progressive scan support. Maybe.

DO NOT use the Pearl White Memory Card 1019 on the Wii. The Wii corrupts those.

The GameCube corrupted one of those on me. :( I had a bunch of saves copied over to a third-party card, though, so I didn't lose everything. It's incredibly ironic that the Nintendo card corrupted and the third-party card was the one that kept on trucking. The Memory Card 252(?) has never given me any problems, though.

The wavebird is the only option.

Since when? Mine has always functioned fine.
Source?
This is true. Both mine and my friend's 1019 card got corrupted. Smash data, Rogue, etc everything gone. Only use the 59 or 256.

Wavebirds suck. Too much lag.

Not only have I never heard this complaint before, but I've personally never had this problem before.

Perhaps you are playing your console in 480i on an HDTV?

Don't get a Wavebird. Lag is crappy.

Just get a regular cube controller, or the new Japanese white controller. I have one, and it works great.

It's a shame that my Wii has Melee in it more than any other game :/

me three.
I have a goddamn third party 1019 block EMS memcard with USB interface that happily eats anything stored on it if you so much as look at it the wrong way.... and I have had no problem at all with using it as my main memcard for my launch Wii. Prolly jinxed it just now tho. :(

Doesn't matter, I always have my backup ready.

Accept no substitutes.

yeah so if anyone sees a deal on one of these, holla at a ninja.

wait, is this controller no good for HDTVs?

There seems to be a lot of misleading information going on in this thread.

The Wii corrupting Gamecube memory cards? Source?

The Wavebird having lag on the Wii? Since when?!

Capcom porting their prerendered Resident Evil games with widescreen support? Huh?

Next you guys will be telling me I can make the Gamecube sound like children laughing if I hold down buttons on my GCN during bootup...

It's there, it's just really really small. Unless you're a kind of extreme fighting game player you won't notice it.

I like the drum samples better. :)

At least it's in 480p

I got a wavebird because of all the hype around here. I don't really like it because it has no rumble and takes batteries. It is also no better than my wireless micro-con from gamestop.

The one article I remembered that mentioned corrupted memory cards is when you turn on the Wii24Connect, and you left the GC Memory card on the slot (plugged in). Because Wii24Connect increase the temperature of Wii to warm or hot, it also increase the temperature of MC that are plugged in, and it caused them to malfunction (burned flash memory or something).

I have Nintendo MC1019, and never have any problem playing my numerous Gamecube games on Wii (I didn't turn on the Wii24Connect).
Guess I should unplug my memory card then since it's been in there since launch and I have Connect24 on. No problems so far though.

Although I wish my wavebird had rumble, it's worked fine with my wii, havent had no lag. But I too have a wired black controller with an extension for when I want rumble.

480i on an HDTV is going to have lag with any controller. Perhaps the unnoticeable lag the Wavebird may have becomes more noticeable with that setup.

If you're playing in 480p, there shouldn't be a problem. At least, that's my conclusion as to why a couple people think the Wavebird has unbearable lag.

Does the Wii have problems with some third party GC controllers? A while back I was using one while playing CvS2 and there were a couple times where the "no controller detected" message would pop up for a split second.

Don't get a Wavebird. Lag

I've yet to understand this "lag" business... I've been using nothing BUT Wavebirds since 2002 and I've never had a problem with lag in anything.

I -did- pick up a few extra a couple of years back... if I find them in the near future, I'll slap them in the buy/sell/trade thread.

Since we are on the subject, Do I need to hold "B" for the Cube games to run in progressive scan or the Wii does it automatically?

My White 1019 GC memory card was corrupted on my Wii. What's the deal with this, have any more info, sources, etc?

If only I'd read this thread six months before it existed...

I bought the white GameCube controller with extra long (3m) cable. I don't like the battery box on the WaveBird.

The Wavebird is ok, but the white GC controller with longer cable trumps it. It also has rumble, which the Wavebird does not have.

As for the 1019 white memory card, is there more than one GCN white memory card, a different size? Isn’t there a 600ish size white memory card as well?
