HP Discontinues webOS (Widespread $100 TouchPad sales)

So what's the best way to secure one of these at this point? I've been trying since Sunday and I haven't had any luck online or in-store. I just want 1. Kinda ticks me off to see people hoarding them but whatever.
 
Well HP has canceled my orders and refunded my money now. They even canceled an order I put in on fucking Sunday. I got an email Monday for it that said "your order was captured, blah, blah" then got the confirmation for it on Tuesday-- later on Tuesday got an email that my order was put in after the deadline, canceled now. Fuck you HP, you will never see another dime from me.
 
Looks like my corporate accounts guy at CDW.com came through. 32GB being delivered via UPS today. FWIW I called in the order on Monday around 4pm EST...
 
So ah on the order status page that only takes your order number it says the ship date has changed to august 30 delivery date of September 6, on the order page where you put your password in and all that nothing changed. So ah wtf batman am i canceled or not?

Let's hope they can sort out the supply issues they're having, or else a lot of people are going to be left hanging.

And holy shit at being able to overclock it to 1.9 GHz, can't imagine the battery lasting long at that speed.

Sorry to hear it. I called them about the order that they canceled on me, then emailed a confirmation about later in the day and they gave me some excuse about their automated system doing it blah blah blah.

My one order from OnSale showed up yesterday. After a week of obsessing, losing sleep and being super unproductive at work, I finally had one in my hands. When my wife, who'd be laughing & rolling her eyes at me the whole time over it got home and saw it, her eyes lit up and she said "So who is this for?"

"Um...me." I replied.

She frowned at me and said "Oh, real nice." Told her I'd share if she was nice to me. Wish I could have gotten two (but grateful I got even one). Think a tablet is in my wife's future.

Datavis is one email away from " We are sorry but HP didn't send us our touchpad shipment so we have to cancel your order"

I'm waiting for hp to reply to my hp call team email...maybe i'll just call that number people were saying to call yesterday. " Hi, my order doesn't have a shipping date...can we do something about that?" " Yes we certainly can, *cancels touchpad order* all set!"

Now I'm worried.

No updates from twitter since yesterday.
SMB front page no longer has that SOLD OUT image with Monday cut off time.
My orders on SMB order status page still shows up "unable to process" when I click on "View" button.
Same orders on HP order status page just shows "Admin"

All these are Sunday orders.

It could be that if there is stock accruing in the factories it's the 64GB 3G version? Accounts for the higher price.

Posting from my new Touchpad. :-)
Is anyone else having problems with PDK apps imported from a previous Palm Profile? I loaded up Dungeon Hunters and it's a white screen with faint letters.
 
I just talked to SMB on the phone. Even though my order says 1 under "B/O", and its estimated ship date was the 24th (which did not happen), they said I should not be worried at all, and it WILL be coming to me. I'm going to chose to trust them.
 
Stopped in Staples this morning for the hell of it, they said they would be getting more but didn't have a timeframe on exactly when.

Dude was super nice about it, unlike the Best Buy employees I've been dealing with this week who feel the need to lie to me.
 
I wouldn't buy a 16 GB for more from HP just because they now see interests in their tablet. The reason people want it, is not because of what it can do. They want it because its a cheap tablet with high specs. If the price aint right, I might as well save that money for a tablet that has more app support and hardware support (android and iPad).

The 16GB one is showing up as the original price for me too, with add to basket button too. 32GB still shows discounted price and says it may not be available.

Says unless you receive tracking number email, everything from online order status to cancellation emails or confirmation emails are all unofficial and can be disregarded. Then i asked him about Monday cutfoff and he says it just means if you placed before Monday then your orders won't be cancelled but at this point it does not guarantee your orders will be fulfilled. Says they won't know until early next week.

Oh well it's been a helluva week but now I really gotta bust my ass and make up for missed work.

You can add the 16 GB touchpad to your cart on Newegg now. Though it's still at the pre-clearance $399 price...

Edit: and gone. Held one in my cart and that's gone too. Is Newegg fucking with people are are they actually selling at that price?

The way HP works for LARGE inventory is they allocate goods in distributor warehouses for US. We stock 99% of the items, including touchpads. The extended quantities are sometimes offered on hotter items as we have allocation and we can utilize their warehouse space.

When the floodgates opened on Saturday (with no notice from HP), we sold this massive # in a short time. When we went to pull our stock, the distributors did not want to ship, though our goods were PAID for and confirmed. It took longer than expected and some legal threats, but the money was deducted from our account x 9500 units, which COVERS ALL OF YOU.

Touchpads are in route and we will post a copy of our Bill of Lading as proof hopefully today. In addition, the bulk of the tracking #s will update tonight, with movement soon after. Please keep in mind we are working as fast as we can, we realize this will literally MAKE or BREAK our business. Please keep that in mind when you comment, threat, etc. tHERE IS ALSO A HURRICANE coming up our way, and we are not sure how much staff will be able to make it on Sunday. Again we will keep you posted.

Lastly, with regard to more units after the committed batch. We believe we will get 1 last shot of them as HP is building more. YES they do cost more than $80-$90 and everyone that HP sold for $99 was a loss. You will get your item AT THE CHEAPER PRICE YOU PAID. The next batch will be considerably more. We do not know the higher price, but please also keep that in mind when complaining. Once again, thank you once again. This is one in a million $*#& storm that nobody could ever predict.

Another mass email will also summarize the above and have further details later this evening.

This really sucks for those of us who only care to buy one. HP is screwing everyone by taking so long that we'll miss all the other deals.

As a software developer, it makes me rage even harder. How awful is their software and their servers that they fail so terribly. It's embarrassing. That goes for pretty much everyone that sold the touchpads. So much fail. I can understand overselling a bit due to the high load, but when you're still taking orders for days after you've run out you have some problems.
 
They cancelled and no coupon here too. I wonder if it's only for the people that pay for that B&N membership or whatever that thing they peddle is.
 
Who here has placed the most order from different places without getting one? I have seen poster who placed orders in 4 websites.

Me either. I wonder if they sent them based off the time of the order. Not that it really matters, that was the first order I placed with them in years, and I don't intend to place another order with them anytime soon.

I ordered at HP, B&N, OnSale and ErwinComp. Cancellations from all but ErwinComp. I'm counting on Erwin!!!
