i'd pay $100 more for a Windows Mobile over an iPhone device given the support that it has and the lack of iTunes dependence. Of course, to each their own.

I absolutely love my iPhone. Its the best touch phone I've ever used, and after getting my hands on the Storm and the HTC Pro, I don't think I can ever settle for any less. Its very intuitive, easy to use, and reliable. The browser is just heavenly, the speed is alright, the accuracy of the touch interface is so good, I don't notice it.

There are some things I'd like to see improved:

1. Like you said, iTunes dependance. I can't bluetooth a photo to my wife's phone? In fact, can't bluetooth ANY file? I need to Sync it with iTunes? Free phones have these features.

2. No tethering: On my work's Sprint phone, I depend on it as its my main fall back when the office's internet goes down.

3. No video recording support. I don't use it much, but as stated before, free phones have these features.

4. For god sakes, I can't add my own ringtones with the music I bought from iTunes? Jesus

Not that big of a deal, but they're worth noting for the "best smartphone in the world."

Yes I have actually. Love that it drops calls, people cut out and download speeds suck shit on it. Only good networks in Oregon are Verizon, T-mob and AT&T. Sprint is a jogs into last place around these parts.

Sprint is the fastest network I've ever used, and I got to admit, their new CEO really turned things around with the service.

Isn't that sort of like an awesome mistake though?

No. Nothing against the G1, but if you were set on the Pro, especially after seeing it in action, it would be a disappointment to get something that you did not want in its place.

Things that can be improved on the Pro:

The camera - the autofocus is atrocious in bad lighting. It takes forever. In daytime it seems to be a decent cam.

The touch pad/d-pad or whatever needs to have each contact point around it spaced evenly. Currently it does not.

The phone wakes on its own occasionally...but that is an issue with Sprint and maybe Verizon as well. You can have software lock your phone and power off right away but it is still a minor annoyance.

This phone should come skinned out of the box with Invisible Shield or something comparable. It's just begging for scratches, but this isn't unlike the iphone or many other PDAs out there.

Microsoft seems to be getting their act together with Windows 7 and hopefully that will also bleed over into mobile development as well. HTC has done a great job with Touch Flo, however. The Windows mobile community has picked up where they left off and there's some really impressive software and customization options out there. IMO, iphone is the Wii of PDAs while the Touch Pro is the 360. One caters to a more business/hardcore demographic while the other to more casual users.

Got my pro and put NATF's HTC Fuze v3.2 on it. I was freaking out doing the installs, but the guide helped out alot and now it works like a dream. All the att useless crap is off. Works like a dream.

I just noticed it got bumped to 4.0. When updating, do I just download the rom and go through the rom flashing again, or do I need to do something special?

Just have to reflash, nothing special.

So I just discovered that I get employee discounts with Sprint, Verizon and AT&T. I've been looking at the HTC Touch Pro for the past hour while at work. I can get it for $299 after a $100 mail in rebate. The unlimited data plan is a little over $50 a month. 450 anytime minutes with free nights (starting at 7:00) and weekends.

I think I'm going to do it.

Me and 2 others have 2 HTC Pros and a Diamond. They're not that bad and with my discount thanks to my job an the Sprint Family Data plan we pay $124(about 42 each) after taxes a month. I'll probably keep it for the full 2 years unless the Pre turns out to be really good and I'll upgrade to that phone.

I'm in a bit of a conundrum.

I'm trying to decide between AT&T and Sprint. The plans I'm looking at are about the same price but some key differences are making it hard for me to choose.

AT&T
+ tethering is free

- 450 anytime minutes
- Nights and weekends are limited at 5000. Also nights start at 9 pm
- 200 messages

Sprint
+ Unlimited messages
+ Unlimited nights and weekends starting at 7 pm

- tethering is an extra $50

To get the AT&T plan to a more acceptable level, I'd be paying less than the $50 it'd cost to add tethering to Sprint but I'm not sure if I really want to spend more monthly.

EDIT: I should have done more research. Apparently there's a way to bypass the tethering fee so Sprint won't know you're connecting it to a computer.

Tethering is free on AT&T? I guess unless you have the iphone right?

Hi, I am currently looking to get a Diamond, but I am confused.

I just want to know if this cellphone is an HTC diamond 1 or 2 and what's the difference?

All I know is the one in the link doesn't have that sweet glossy diamond shape look in the back of it and is a bit thicker.

Help me out guys.
