Hudson 3DS Titles Cancelled

I really don't understand the reasoning for canceling Bomberman 3DS. Delaying it's release to capitalize on a larger install base during/after Christmas 2011 is one thing, but canceling?

RIP :(

hudson :(

i had a bad feeling after seeing konami shut down hudsons web presence earlier this month. i was wishful hudson would be handled like taito .-. (smartly)

hudsons twitter was so positive up to the end <3... then the axe fell and it left you with konami filled propaganda. trying to make me follow that spam konami twitter account where they recycle the same damn tweet for 3 months... D:< bastards!

From Duckroll in the Famitsu thread, there are even more canned games:

- PS3 Bonk's Adventure
- Deca Sports 4 (Wii)

I imagine Konami's cleaning house, and getting rid of any productions the US branch pushed (which included Deca Sports, Bonk's Adventure, more quality Bomberman not more crap, and a push to bring back Bloody Roar), which is insanely sad.

The funniest/saddest thing is that Hudson has been financially well off for years. It turns out that when they became a public company (they went public because the owners felt they couldn't keep up with rising development costs without doing so) is when a lot of talent left, and when the company was in the shitters allowing themselves to slowly be bought by Konami.

Bonk.. Bomberman. RIP

Does this mean the Bonk franchise is dead forever? I mean, if Konami would let Goemon die, Bonk stands no chance.

Damn, Konami's pulling a Sega. Crap.

Nintendo should really step in and buy up the company, its trademarks, and the studio. Not only would it be a great show of goodwill towards one of their biggest partners, but it would keep Mario Party alive!

I don't think Konami is auctioning them off, sadly. Just keeping them stored away for a rainy day.

I just bought Bomberman Ultra last week in anticipation of this news. They let their user forum go straight to hell, so it became obvious no one was doing and development there.

I gave up on Bomberman 3DS, Battlefest PSN, and Bonk for both platforms that day.

I swear to GOD, this better not be the death of Bomberman!

In fairness it's highpoint was a loooong time ago now:

+ the 10-player mode of Saturn Bomberman (the closest we got to the unreleased Hi-Ten Bomberman).

They were the last ones the original team seemed to do, they've all been off since then. The HD ones especially. The core concept may be there, but the execution has never been the same.

Bomberman 3DS having energy bars (blasphemy!) didn't exactly inspire much confidence ...

Hudson are basically being turned into a social game house. They'll release the last couple of console games that were deep into development (Momotaro Dentetsu?), but all these cancellations were expected after Konami announced their plans for Hudson.

Why would you cancel a money maker like bomberman that seems to make money no matter how crappy the installment is? Sometimes these companies truly mystify me.

I don't think development had got far enough to keep it alive.

Konami proves again Namco got nothing on them, when it comes to being the worst publishers.

They killed goemon franchise (plus team),sudoken franchise, the silent hill team and are still trying hard to kill the castlevania team.

Please tell me this won't affect Turbografx games coming to the e-store. PLEASE.

Turbografx games were supposed to be released on PSN last month. April's almost here, and we haven't seen a single one.

Konami owns the company entirely. If Nintendo wanted to buy them, they could have before, but now it's too late.

And now their death is complete. I'm honestly surprised that they would cancel Bomberman 3DS though, if you're not gonna take advantage of their most important franchise then why the hell did you buy Hudson in the first place?

You're asking a company who considers Metal Gear a genre?

Well this fucking sucks.

Once again, if I could go back in time a few years and tell myself that Konami would, in a short time, no longer be a favorite developer of mine, I wouldn't have believed it. But here we are.

If they cancel Kororinpa I will murderize someone, fuck Konami. Why can't we have nice things? Hudson was pretty much the only decent part of Konami. I guess it's going to be solely MGS spin-offs and shit PES games from now on.
