Huge Storm Slamming the PNW

A powerful Pacific Northwest storm, fueled by a remnant of a typhoon, will hammer parts of Washington, Oregon and northern California Saturday, with the potential for destructive winds, flooding rain, huge waves and coastal flooding.

This weekend storm will have its origins from the remnants of western Pacific Typhoon Songda.

Today, two tornados touched down in Oregon. Right now it's windy as all hell where I am.

Stay safe everyone. I get to drive to the airport in this shit. Wish me luck.
 
Wonder if we'll get an update on that rich dude who cut down all those trees for the view since they keep the ground from crumbling and mudslides.
 
My power has already gone out and come back a number of times today. Live about 45 minutes from the Canadian border in WA.
 
We're in Redmond and it hasn't gotten that bad yet, just some high winds and a bit of rain. Expecting the worst this weekend, though. Stay safe guys!
 
In the tip of NW Oregon, picked up a few roof shingles from my lawn today. It's been worst late at night and early morning. Supposedly the worst of it is tomorrow. Shit sucks.
 
Apparently the fierce winds have already knocked out power to about 75, 000 people on Vancouver Island and the lower mainland area, effective early this morning.
 
looking forward to the big storm on Saturday. I'm not a property owner so storms are pretty stress free for me. I'm in Vic so we shouldn't get it too bad here anyway
 
My power is already out and this is supposed to be the lull. So bored already!!!!!!

Least we have a generator so our batteries will get charged and we can flush our toilets and I have unlimited data on my phone.
 
My ferry was cancelled, so now I'm on a BC ferry from Salt Spring island to Vancouver island and will hopefully be able to get right on the ferry to the mainland... not looking good though!

Worst case I get stuck on the island for... a few days? :0
 
We booked a birthday weekend in Manzanita (Oregon coast). Tornado touched down there this morning. I cancelled, went out to the car to unpack and a two pound tree thing fell on my head from about fifty feet and I literally saw stars and sat down hard.

Wind has really kicked up here in the Vancouver BC (the one that actually counts) My upstairs neighbour just put out all her Halloween shit this week and has promptly taken it all back down since it was flying around outside.

You should probably get that checked out. I hear concussions can have long lasting affects if not treated right. And if you saw stars you most likely have one.
 
On and off windy in Kirkland so far. But I am also hoping for no long blackouts this time.

I think I will wear a helmet if i go outside!
 
Portland area (southwest)... nothing too crazy yet but it looks really unsettling outside...

I'm watching my symptoms. So's Mrs. Stinkles. Any sign of issues and I won't mess around.


We have a break in wind and rain right now but the tail of the monsoon is expected tonight.
 
I should go to the store and stock up on food. It's only 3 blocks away, but then I won't need to leave the house tomorrow.
 
Quite windy, but otherwise totally normal, in the Bend/Redmond OR area. Hearing about some bad stuff in the Manzanita area.
 
Here in southern Oregon. I am super pumped for the storm but sad all the fall leaves are gonna get blasted to smithereens lol
 
Boo hiss. Our generator is not working. And this was the first time we got to actually use it too (of course it worked when we tested it. Husband found it used). Well, may have to replace all the food in the fridge yet again (windstorm earlier this year broke something that was hard to fix so our area for designated to be fixed after easier fixes so we were out of power a few days. And just a month or so before that I was a dope and left the freezer open).

And our plumbing needs power to drain so have to limit flushes and showers and such.
 
I'm in north Lynnwood and there are outages around me but I have power. Time to charge everything and stock up on food to prep for tomorrow in case it gets bad.
 
Consider my back ass woods area loses power and Internet if a badger farts, I will likely lose both over the weekend.

I don't know why people bitch about pud here. I gotta give them kudos for being out in this weather especially as there is a good chance we'll just lose it again. And I think they have a fair plan for who gets fixed first. Ones that affect more people unless it is a complicated/long fix and then easier ones first. Basically in order to get most people back power the soonest.

I just discovered the SnoPUD outage map, and literally across the street and a block in either direction from me is apparently without power.

My big beef with them was that they didn't have anything like this during the last big storm; them having an easy phone-accessible way to get an idea of what's going on is huge to me.
 
We already lost power twice today. First time for about an hour and a half, second time for just a few minutes. We've had a bunch of dimming, too.

I had to go out today. It wasn't cold and the wind around my house wasn't very bad, so I thought an umbrella would be enough. The wind bent the metal pole of my umbrella. Sure, it's probably just cheap aluminum, but I've never had that happen before.
