I guess that's it for Seattle huh?

Maybe there's more coming but this is been pretty anti-climatic so far. There was more drama from me trying to get the voters pamphlet out of my small mailbox.

Looking at the weather radar it seems we (Seattle) may get some more that is less intense.

Seattle is spared. Just hard rain on and off and I just got back from McDonalds.

Updated: Saturday 5:15 p.m.

The winds are starting to pick up around the Puget Sound region, and we have some good news in that the storm, while still very potent, isn't quite as strong as advertised -- maybe we won't have to name it, sorry fellow "Cheese Curd Day Storm" fans. But it's still packing a powerful punch, and those of you north of Everett are still on the hook for very damaging winds.

Gig Harbor hit a gust of 53 mph at 5 p.m. while Seattle hit 39 and Olympia hit 41 mph. Over on the coast, gusts have been around 50 mph.

The latest track of the storm suggests the storm is leaning a little farther west, which would keep the most intense part of the storm north and west of the Puget Sound region and lessen the chances of widespread wind damage potential from the Seattle Metro area south into Olympia (although still plenty windy for power outages and tree falls. Do NOT let your guard down.)

However, all indications are that areas north of Snohomish County will get hit VERY HARD from this storm, with potential gusts of 60+ mph. This includes the San Juan Islands, greater Bellingham area, western Whatcom County, western Skagit County, Camano Island and Whidbey Island.

So much for the remnants of Typhoon Songda trying to make a final blow. Die whimpering to nothingness in the Canadian wilderness you bastard.

Took I-5 getting home from work, part of the road was flooded because of the weird slope. Caught me a little off guard cause it was so dark.

Still have power up here in Lynnwood, for now. It's windy, but nothing crazy yet. Been watching a tree across the road try and plow through a power-line though. We lost power for a couple hours yesterday afternoon, but no problems since then.

Was running two days worth of weekend errands today to try and get home by 5 before the worst was scheduled to hit. Got ten minutes of hard rain for the trouble.

On the flip side, roads were completely dead today. Zero traffic from Tacoma all the way up to Bellevue. Can it be like this every weekend?

This please on the traffic, it was amazing this weekend

I just got PSVR and I want to watch the Hawks game tomorrow with the power on. I am NOT disappointed.

I mean, I didn't want the power to go out or anything. I just wanted something, I love rain and just wanted a strong pour. Didn't even get that.

we should do fear mongering in the weekday mornings too

Yeah, that was a wussy storm. The one before it was worse and I slept through most of it! Ah well. At least it didn't inconvenience many people.

People gonna get mad at forecasters, but they said this was a possibility and I'd rather this happen than actual mass power outages and people getting killed by fallen trees.

It's pretty amazing just how completely wrong forecasting can be. Meteorology is really just a complete shot in the dark most of the time.

Thursday's storm was worse. This one wasn't even noticeable.

They said they could be wrong, but people tend to forget that. [shrug]

I would like to take this opportunity to tell everyone to clean their fucking stormdrains and sidewalks, though. I feel like I'm the only person in Seattle that actually does...

I moved here from the Midwest. A tornado went through my yard before.

You call this a storm??
j/k I know we just dodged it. I'm glad none of our trees fell

Nothing happened in Bellevue around me, suppose thats a good thing. Just chilled in my PJs with my cats all day so its good either way

So glad it fizzled. There are two more coming though right? Or was that just fear mongering too? Friday night was horrid for me, but likely only because I was on the road lol

So anticlimactic (pun not intended).

AFAIK, it was just supposed to be three. Friday was #2.

#3 (this afternoon/evening) was supposed to be the granddaddy of them all and put Friday to shame.

Nothing left after this but ordinary rain. AFAIK.

Glad it weakened so much. We lost power around 7:30pm, but it was restored pretty quickly. If the storm ended up being too big we likely would've been without power for a couple days since we're further out in a more rural area. Got to light some candles and play a game while it stormed for a while outside. I'm content with Windstorm 2016.

Watching/reading the weather guys on KOMO, KING and KIRO apologizing for their mistake....the low passed further to the west than their models showed so it ended up being much weaker than anticipated.

Yeah, I was watching the local weather guys talk about this storm on Thursday and that it had the potential to be an "historical" wind storm. But the guy on KIRO said that 2 of their 3 models showed the low passing further to the west and it wouldn't be nearly as bad and only 1 model showed it was going further east which would have made it the worst wind storm on record since 1962. I guess they decided to play it safe and not go with %'s and made sure to get the news/warnings out there so people were prepared. I guess better to be safe than sorry.

Had a 10 minute timeframe where the rain and wind was absolutely nuts here in Seattle but it's been quiet ever since. I was expecting it to be more sustained, lol.

The tempest in the teapot...

We got a lot of "disappointed" anchormen and anchorwomen tonight

You act as if you're surprised? They even communicated many, many times that things could change. Initially it was only a 1/3 chance it'd be bad, and right up until Saturday every forecast I saw highlighted that it could change.

I never saw any doubt being mentioned in any of the reports I saw. It was all "It's coming, and it's going to be big." One reporter asked the weatherman "How big? Like, compared to Friday?" and the weatherman was all "Well, weather is nebulous and unpredictable, but... if you got unlucky on Friday, and you're lucky today, today's 'lucky' is going to be easily worse than Friday's 'unlucky'".

At first they said it was going to hit in the afternoon/evening, and then on the 6:00 news they had their political reporter standing on the edge of Vancouver Island (because Victoria is BC's capital, so that's where he works), so he could report on getting hit by the storm on live TV, and he says "Well, it's raining and windy, but there's no big storm yet. But the weatherman is still saying it'll hit me any minute now." And then the weatherman says "7:00. It'll hit at 7:00 as soon as we're off the air, and then the worst of it will last until 11:00 PM. You've gotta catch the edge of it if we're going to film anything cool before we go off air." And the political reporter says "Y'know, I think the rain is stopping. I think the so-called 'storm' just finished." And the weatherman says "Calm before the storm. Things are about to explode."

But then nothing happened. It's nice that a tree didn't crush my house, and it's nice that nobody died this time (although silly humans responded to the weatherman panic by running around on the seawall and taunting Poseidon, so I'm not sure the warnings did much good in the grand scheme of things), but the weathermen are looking a little embarrassed right now.
