Heh, related thought:

I think about this when I see what some of the more remote Latin American countries' poll in Everybody Votes! on Wii. Some of them seem to indicate all of, say, 30 Costa Ricans have a Wii, and that they're all obnoxiously rich.

"Those games they call 'PlayStation' are poison,” Chavez said. “Some games teach you to kill. They once put my face on a game, 'you've got to find Chavez to kill him.'”

:lol

He's still bitter about Mercs 2 I see.

Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez has labeled PlayStation a "poison" that leads children down the capitalist "road to hell".

:lol :lol :lol
Don't they have bigger problems there than Playstation?

Obligatory picture from the article

Eventually people like Hugo will die off and people who grew up with games will be the leaders running things so maybe then games won't get such a bad rep.

This just in, stupid leaders losing control of their countries need to find something, anything, on which to blame their own failures and divert attention from them.

I doubt he is an Xbot when he banned every kind of violent videogames, 5 years in prison to everyone importing or selling videogames :lol

Probably not in Venezuela.

When Hugo's done there, I doubt that there will be someone alive to take his place.

Haha so true, I'm from Venezuela but man I'm so thankful my parents decided to leave that place when I was 3.

yup, the ol' dictatorship policies never survive

So anyone actually read the article?

Maybe my sarcasm meter is broken, but he's referring to all videogames as Playstations.

I must have this game now.

Super Mario Chavez blames Sony and the US -MS- because they copied the waggle and stoled the 3rd party support. So he also bans the violent games. :lol

Opponents of Chavez claim that 100,000 people have been murdered since his appointment in 1999, although his government says the figure is an exaggeration.

The hell? So, what did his government say? "Oh, somewhere around 60,000. 70 tops."???

If I didn't hate Chavez as much as any anti-chavista colombian, I'd be laughing my ass off right now.

That's why I'll just :lol once.

where in the article does it say that Hugo Chavez likes or favors the xbox 360. all it says is Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez has labeled PlayStation a "poison" that leads children down the capitalist "road to hell". I don't think he like ms any better than Sony....they are both capitalist company.
