The walk in the garden was hilarious.

As a black comedy I thought it worked really well, much better film than I was expecting.

The first movie basically built it's reputation on the concept, and is no worse gore wise than 100 other horror movies out there.
The second though, that one makes a genuine attempt at being the most horrifying thing put to screen.

It did. I didn't like the first one as a horror movie, though it could be passable as a black comedy. The second is better in pretty much every respect.
