Hunter Strickland throws at Bryce Harper, brawl ensues.

Harper charged the pitcher, then got his ass kicked. Love it. That second punch almost knocked him on his ass.

"punch"

If these guys landed a proper punch the other guy would be lights out.
Fortunately, they are just slapping each other around so it's more just posturing and saving face. Breaking your hand bones would mean surgery or extended DL time.

Posey will definitely get plunked tomorrow, Crawford will definitely hit a double/HR and drive him in and Strickland will definitely get traded. Take it to the bank, Jack.

There is no way Strickland stays a Giant after this. He's already underperformed, acted like a baby and now this is the final straw. Unfortunately SF aren't going to get much for him. Farm system is terrible right now.

Seen this posted. Harper misses helmet throw just a bit outside lol

Strickland lands a backpedaling straight.

Harper lands a shot across the face/nose.

Harper spins out of the way of a charging infielder.

The most interesting part of this fight was Posey and the entire infield didn't move to stop the incident. The let Strickland deal with his mess

Not seeing the Harper ass kicking tho. But haters do lol

If I were in the league and a dude beaned me on purpose, best believe I am charging that mound with Bat in hand and I would gladly take that fine. Unwritten or on paper with permanent ink... your weapon was a hardball and mine is a hardbat.

One Well placed swing to the pitching arm or ribs and I bet that is the last time I am beaned

That's jail time, notice nobody ever comes with a bat in hand.

Hope you got a good contract and bail money.

I am not going for anyone's head with a bat, but that is no different from the pitcher targeting and hitting me with a 100 mph ball. I don't see the difference at all...

Harper's completely justified here. Dude could've had one of his ribs broken from that ball.
All because the baby pitcher was sad that Harper hit a couple hr off of him years ago in a series he fucking won! Sucks Harper didn't square him up better, dude deserved a beating.

"This is a good one folks. This is as good as it's going to get for awhile".

Lol @ Harper missing. Clearly, he was trying to throw the helmet at Strickland. Not a fan of Harper, but I see nothing wrong with Harper charging the mound - he was completely justified.

Baseball's unwritten rules are fucking stupid and have always been fucking stupid.

Harper getting hit for some shit 3 years ago because Strickland had arguably the worst playoffs a pitcher has ever had is stupid. Posey getting hit by a fastball tomorrow will be stupid. The crap the Red Sox and Orioles have been doing back and forth all year has been stupid.

I really hate the "hit me I hit you back" crap.

If I was Stricklands teammate I would be pissed right now. He didn't hit Harper because one of his boys got hit. He did it because Harper lit his ass up twice. Buster is just standing there because he knows that he is probably getting drilled tomorrow.

Interested to see how MLB handles this. Hate all you want but Harper is a superstar. All leagues protect their stars and Manfred is already annoyed after what happened with Machado.

No way Harper doesn't catch at least a week.

Justified or not, can't go starting fights.

Should have been clearer. My bad.

For sure he is getting suspended. The helmet throw alone will get him a week. I was talking more about the pitcher getting more than the standard 5 games. Curious to see if they make an example out of him.

He'll get 5 for the throw and an additional 15 for the fight.

What I'll go with.

Kruk and Kuip are the best. So laid back and chill. Love how they never get worked up over stuff.

I wouldn't be able to do it lol. If I was a fan of the batter's team, I would be enraged and my passion would spill over during the broadcast. If I was a fan of the pitcher's team, I'd look for any little excuse to mitigate the pitcher's behaviour.

As a neutral observer, the pitcher is a huuuuuge piece of shit and deserves to get suspended for a long time.

Batters need to stand up for themselves EVERY TIME they get hit like this.

Yeah, I wonder if behind closed doors, if the Giants are pissed at Strickland. My guess is that they're not happy with Strickland right now.

Throwing a helmet is actually kind of tricky. It's weighted all wrong and the brim can be slick, so I have no doubt he tried to throw it at him and it just slipped.

Also I would personally rather be hit with a baseball than a baseball bat.

Harper said he was trying to hit him with the helmet

Strickland said it's wasn't intentional and he's was just trying to throw inside... which can't be true since Posey wasn't setting up for an inside pitch

Yup, and he definitely nods at Harper too, which looks a lot like "yeah I did, and what are you gonna do about it?"

The pro bring the bat to the mound crowd are insane lol. That's a potential assault with deadly weapon charge.

I hope MLB comes down hard on Harper for the helmet throw which seemed to clearly slip out of his hand. Can't put up with crap like that even if he missed. Harper was justified for charging the mound though.

I feel bad for the Giant who tried to break up the fight only to be headbutted by his own teammate charging in. There is a much higher risk of injury when everyone runs in and piles up, should just let the two guys settle it since they both wanted to fight.

Every time a pitcher hits a batter, that should be a free walk to home. This is professional baseball. If you can't pitch for shit and hit someone (or do it intentionally), it's should count as a run.

I commented in the MLB thread that Posey probably thought Strickland needed a good beating. "Yeah, I'm just going to let him get what's coming to him." People in this thread also raise a good point that Posey probably knows his number will be dialed by the end of the series.

Beaning somebody over 2 homers 3 years ago is just all kinds of stupid.

I've heard some stupid shit, but this is a new one for me

Like a fastball to the body?

MLB should really start punishing intentionally hitting a batter. Like how you just gonna stand aside and let the pitcher hit someone because why not? Start showing that shit won't fly anymore. They usually get what 5 games suspension? Make it longer that will really make them think twice before doing that. Either hit one batter and make your team suffer because of your stupidity, or be the bigger person and just do your job.

Like a fastball to the body?
This. You throw a fucking baseball at someone in public and that shit will get you an assault charge every time. I'm sick of seeing pitchers act like little bitches when they decide to throw a fucking weapon at someone because they feel slighted somehow. Fuck that. Give the other team a run and watch it stop.

Is throwing at people suddenly an epidemic or something? It seems like some of you are a lot more upset about it than the people playing. It's kind of not a problem because teammates get pissed at pitchers who go after guys since they're now in the crosshairs. It takes care of itself for the most part.

I don't mean to sound like I'm condoning throwing at hitters, it's a part of baseball that I hate to see, intentional or not. I'm all for harsh penalties from the league and hitters standing up for themselves if the situation calls for it. Going at someone with a baseball bat is certainly on another level though. There is too much potential for serious damage there. I can't even imagine a situation where both dugouts clear with everyone armed with a bat, that would be like a scene out of a gladiator arena.

No,.. this isn't a fight. It is an organized sport, that turns into a fight because You have two weapons on a field. One player has a bat and the other has a baseball. One person decides that they are going to use their weapon to inflict pain on the other. The other person should have full authority to then use their weapon. That person did not have to hit a defenseless man with a 90 + mph heater. Of course there are mistakes, but this obviously was intentional.

Getting hit with a bat in a fight is nothing like getting hit with a ball in an at-bat. 95% of the time the batter gets hit, grimaces slightly and takes their base. Bats break things.

I dont have a problem with pitchers throwing at guys, especially if your just trying to own the inside part of the plate. But throwing at him for something that happened 3 years ago? Dude get real.

Getting plunked in the right spot can definitely break bones. See Freddie Freeman. Throwing a baseball 98 mph high and tight is always dangerous.

Strickland's only redeeming quality here is he plunked Harper on the meaty part of his hip. He will have a welt but at least he didn't go head hunting.

Harper had the right to charge and mound. Up 2-0, first pitch, no one on base, yes this was intentional. Your catcher doesn't block the hitter and your manager subtlety mentions that he believes it was intentional..it was obvious.

Strickland is a self-absorbed ass. They won the WS that year. He ultimately got the last laugh on Harper. Harper is a brand-name so he shouldn't feel bad if he tattooed him. Harper hits lots of guys.

Just kind of unfortunate that Harper will be suspended a few games and Trout will be out at least a month. Not the best look for the game.

Let them fight.

Should get rid of DH so the pitcher has to go to the plate, then the opposing team throws at the pitcher when they're up.

Come to think of it, don't think I've ever seen a pitcher throw at another pitcher.

I hate baseball fights. Just let the two guys settle it or have the umpires break it up. You don't need 40 people storming the field making asses of themselves.
