Hyrule Historia is Being Officially Localized, Published by Dark Horse Comics

Hmmm... I think I'll pass of the FP order after reading that. Already had to deal with freud on a card recently so I don't want to go through that again any time soon.

That said, there are bound to be some on ebay and whatnot after release.

Some? Try LOTS. That's why these super limited edition runs are such bullshit. Scalpers pick a bunch up and sell them for 4x the value, and real Zelda fans get boned. I know from experience (Japanese Hyrule Historia!)

I have a Megaman 9 NES cartridge that was limited to 100 or some shit... and it doesn't make me feel good at all that I'm in some "special exclusive club" by owning one. I never understood that mindset. If there's demand, fucking supply it!

I reckon there will be tons. I'm still flabbergasted by the amount of copies of The Sky on eBay despite it being limited to 1000. I've seen more on there than I've seen of actual customers receiving their orders, it's crazy. And they didn't even know it was going to be limited! (Or maybe they did, and that was the problem all along...)

I could well end up with several copies of this Zelda book, in which case I'll likely sell them on to others in my country (I don't doubt that people here barely got a chance to order despite there being a lot of Zelda fans), so if I can be helpful with my overzealous ordering I'll be happy. Heck I could even send them to gaf members who miss out, but I think the postage from NZ might be a bit pricey.

Yeah and it seems like complete common sense that scalpers are going to buy a shit ton of copies. Limited edition shit like that doesn't make much sense in this day and age

I put an order in, but I may cancel. It is a price difference of £22.71 just for a faux leather cover and a bit of gold printing.

mine was cancelled, but i was able to get two from my local comic book store (one is for a friend. like, an actual, real-life human).

the person is actually on one of the nintendo weekly things from a year ago. might actually kill me if i revealed them though. kinda... crazy about zelda. moreso than me.

I just called a local comic shop and asked about this, and he told me he was able to order one single LE along with the other normal versions. I asked about it, he said no one has called about it yet, and if I email him he will put me on the reserve list as #1 and it would be mine.

Yeah, I emailed him right then and there.

Just ordered the standard hardcover from amazon (19$), they gave me free shipping and say I should get it day-of release. After watching that GTTV 'Timeline' I really want to get the thing near release day, so I'll wait and see if I can find a LE at a later date. I don't want to wait for an LE and not get to read it at all.

nope...

My order is still alive on B&N.com and pre-authorization has cleared my CC. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.

But just to double check, the only upgrades to the LE book are gold foil edges, faux-leather hard back and limited to 4000 copies. Right? My B&N order is double my Amazon order... hmm.

Also, Forbidden Planet UK (seriously, what's the difference?) no longer have the LE listed, so I think they sold out already.

The Limited Edition is now up for pre-order on Amazon UK for £39.34:-
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1616551615/
I wonder if Amazon UK will even get stock?
If the listing only went up now I'd say no. What seemed to happen with The Sky (another limited Dark Horse publication, only twist is numbers not announced) is both pre-orders went up at the same time as the American site and the few copies they recieved in October were sent out first come first served between the two sites. This means a couple of people in the UK managed to secure copies.

Amazon UK kept the order open even after Amazon.com shut theirs (which was in August, way before the items came out and numbers known, even) and still after Amazon.com and the .co.uk had received and sent all of theirs (I actually called Amazon and tried to see if there was any hope given others had received but the Indian call centre was having none of it saying the same stuff about on order from suppliers and theres 100% chance I'll get it and whatever other generic responses the computer said) amazon.co.uk kept pre-orders open.

Both Amazons proceeded to delay unfulfilled orders and then eventually cancel (Amazon.com orders just vanished, .co.uk sent a standard e-mail, I suppose I should heckle them to see if they'll give me £3.24 gift card as an apology for being a bunch of ignorant, incompetent liars). The date of cancellation was way too late to get a copy for a reasonable price (which was back before release date of 31st October as Dark Horse released early).

tl;dr. I think they'll get none or a few and they won't cancel you until after release but will give you false hope. Unless of course Amazon UK learned something from their shoddy handling of The Sky.

Called up B&N because I had to change the credit card I used to pay for the LE. They told me that I didn't have to change it because the payment was already scheduled to go through. I told them about other orders being canceled and she assured me that my order was 'definitely' going through.

Here's for hoping!

Every day I check my B&N order status, and I'm always incredibly nervous when I do so.

The pre-order remains...for now...

Just checked my B&N order still good to go ordered pretty quickly after it went up. Not biggie if it gets cancelled though I can deal with my 19 dollar standard edition from Amazon. I'll probably end up getting both anyway sold my JPN version for what I paid for it a few months ago and that more than covers two copies in English. The first quarter of the year is looking to be pretty awesome.

I learned about the LE a day after it went up (and sold out on Amazon). Decided the chances that B&N would be able to fulfill my order were too slim for me to go through the trouble of grabbing my credit card.

4000 is a ludicrously small number.

Nintendo is definitely living up to their promise...it certainly is limited...

...but there's probably at least 4,000 hardcore Nintendo fans who would like the LE of the book just on Neogaf alone. After this thing ships, sales are going to be a bloodbath.

really?? I thought there was gonna be more...anyways, I managed to snag one of the LE's from amazon as soon as some Gaffer posted a link to it but I didn't think I was gonna get it considering that there are some fanatics out there with possibly no life waiting for zelda memorabilia to be sold online....moreover, it sux that fellow neogaffers are getting their orders cancelled.
:/

Well there we go, my order from B&N officially canceled. No email or anything, I just checked my Order Status, and it says it was canceled on December 11th [today]. ~_~

I guess I'll make do with the Standard Edition after all. *sigh*

Same here.

Absolutely rotten customer service from B&N, and terrible communication from Dark Horse. This thing never should have been listed until retailers had concrete numbers. Leaves a real sour taste in your mouth.

Called a local comic shop and they said that they can no longer preorder the limited edition. It says in the system that it is sold out.

edit: called another one and they said the preorder date has passed.

I'm glad I kept my pre-order of the standard edition from Amazon, because my B&N was cancelled today as well.

It's really shitty that I wouldn't have even thought to check if it wasn't for this thread though. Have the balls to send a freakin' email, jerks.

Me too, and it really sucks... :/
