Hyrule Historia is Being Officially Localized, Published by Dark Horse Comics

So caught up in work and preparing for next semester that I forgot this ships soon! Just checked, and I should receive it via Prime by Tuesday. Getting the regular edition, I'll let you fanatics enjoy the limited edition goodness. :p

I was thinking about canceling my TFAW and Amazon order to buy more games :|

not really sure why I want this book. I'll look at it a few times and then it collects dust I don't even have a book shelf in here

I'm going to have some serious buyer'r remorse

Should have gotten that Calvin and Hobbes collection I always wanted with this money

yep TFAW better deliver

Any comparisons to the standard edition? I'd like to see the quality of the cover on that one.

EDIT: Also, I'd kinda like to know about durability and whatnot, but that'll take a bit of time. If it turns out to be kind of a crappy faux leather I'll just can the pre-order.

I just wish TFAW would change their status to something like "shipping soon". I have a LE per-ordered there for some ridiculous price like $60 and if I can soften the blow by cancelling my standard edition pre-order then all the all the better for me.

Just so you know, there is no option to cancel a TFAW pre order. Their help section says they don't allow pre order cancellations.

Since the LE doesn't release until Feb. 12th, that probably wont be for several more days.

Alright, I can feel my fingers again so it's story time!

So I got there around 5:15 or so. I figured better early and safe. I honestly didn't think getting in would be that bad because

a) It's a book
b) It's a Friday evening. It's not like its in the middle of the day with the sun out on a Saturday like these things usually are.

So I started walking and noticed I walked too far when I heard nerd talk as I was passing. I was on the line about halfway down the block with Nintendo World at the end. They started letting people in at 6pm, and the event was from 6-8. Long story short myself and the people I made friends with got in at almost exactly 7pm.

While we were on the line we felt coldness on a level I cannot describe. In addition to it being wildly cold outside as it is all week, the snow blowing in your face doesn't help either. My core body was fine most of the time, it was my hands and feet that were really bad. When you're waiting outside for almost two hours, they get cold. I was honestly afraid I'd have to go get something checked out considering my feet were both numb AND in pain, and my fingers moved way slower than my brain told them to. I literally couldn't use my fingers to type on my phone, it got to the point where I had to use one finger, keep it straight, and move my arm to punch letters into texts and emails.

There were a couple times I was strongly considering giving up, but I figured I had gotten so far I might as well toughen it out. They eventually gave out wristbands to mark who had been waiting on line. Blue for the regular edition, and yellow for the limited edition.

Wall of text, etc. Here's some pictures!

This is the line about the time when I first got on...so probably 5:30ish.

Here's a random furry. He tried to hide from the picture, hence the action shot. It ain't a Zelda event without at least one furry.

Here's the line again a little later. As you can see, people are starting to go insane.

Like clockwork they cut the line off with me in front when I got up there. This is not long before victory.

Once you get up the stairs to the second level where all the Zelda stuff was happening, this was staring at you.

Next on line!!

This is behind the counter where you bought the book. Some real cool props that looked gorgeous.

Again, but this time you could see the awesome Link and Epona statue.

They served potions for us after we had bought the book, while we were looking around. We sure as hell needed that after losing so many hearts out in the cold.

These super mini cupcakes obviously make a pixel Link, but when you're in front of it it doesn't look like anything. Only when you're that far away or further do you notice the whole picture. It was a really cool illusion.

The cupcake girl was really nice...but honestly that's the case with every Nintendo World employee. They're always the nicest people and fun to be friendly with.

For this I asked a woman to take a picture of me pretending to pull out the sword. I guess I kind of broke the ice in that regard because then all of a sudden everyone was doing it.

Here's the book itself. I know it kinda sucks with the glare, but I'm having a REALLY hard time talking myself into taking the plastic off. You can still get the general idea, and I can upload high quality pictures tomorrow when I have the energy and sunlight for it.

So in conclusion, did I almost get frostbite? Yes. Was this the most insane thing I went through for something video game related? Yes. Were the people on the line the nicest people ever and great company while you waited out in the cold? Absolutely! There's a special community feel with Nintendo fans that you don't get anywhere else. It's why I always make the short trip down to Nintendo World. Well, that, and the never ending supply of Streetpass hits!

Me with my legit LE preorder, and here I am sorta thinking the non-LE looks nicer in those photos.

OH WELL. I am sure I will like it when I get it.

nice pix edag. Can't wait for my LE thru mail. feb 12th cant come soon enough!!

Question guys so I'm checking my pre-order and while people are saying that the book itself is coming out next week, is the limited edition coming out Thursday February 14, 2013? As far as that date goes it's what I'm seeing under my Amazon pre-order and it's kind of confusing me with it.

nope the LE hits on the 29th. Not sure why it is taking Amazon so long to ship them...

The interior of the LE vs. the Regular Edition is the same, correct? I think that was the general consensus months ago, but I haven't been keeping up to date with it.

I have an LE pre-ordered at TFAW.com currently.

Has anybody got any word from Forbidden Planet UK if they are going to fulfill their preorders for the limited edition or not? I've emailed them but they've yet to get back to me.

awesome shots, Edag Plata! so jelly, i know it looks cold as balls there but idve loved the chance to've gone.

I love this shot. It looks like it is set up like a shop in a Zelda game.

haha yeah that's my favorite bit too, i wanna go put a cotton ball in a glass shield and add wings now

Thanks for the update, Edag Plata. Nice pictures!

I'm really hopeful that Rightstuf are able to fulfill their pre-orders for the Limited Edition. They seem to be handling things in a good manner, so that's great to see. But even still, I won't feel "secure" until I get my shipment email.

We'll see soon enough!

I contacted a CSR and asked them to request a fixed/updated date for the release of the LE. Hopefully they update it soon.

Yeah I stopped by the NWS launch around 6 and couldn't believe how many people were there. I couldn't have gotten there any earlier because of work :/ Oh well, I figured that I wouldn't have gotten an LE anyway because of all the people in front of me.

Is there any difference between the regular and the collector's edition apart from the cover? I'm trying to decide between the two. The collector's is 55€ vs 22€ for the regular at Amazon.de, so if it's the same book inside I don't see the point of the collector's edition, I even think the regular looks a lot nicer.

Another difference is that preorders for the LE get cancelled everywhere.

Ok, Amazon has never cancelled anything for me. I guess I'll give the collector's edition a shot, I can always sell it and get the regular one if I don't like it.

These emails were sent out last week to people who preordered the LE from Amazon UK months ago.

So consider yourself extremely lucky and blessed if you actually manage to snatch a copy through the German Amazon right now. I guess it's worth a try since they are still taking preorders there.

Mine dispatched from the UK yesterday (Amazon.de). Went with the Standard Edition. I´d love to have it as a PDF or any other digital format, but a printed book is just as fine (though I hate collecting stuff).

Well, in that case I'll order a regular one as well just in case. Amazon Germany says they won't ship the collector's till the 12th february while the regular ships next week, so I'll see if I get it or not. If yes, I'll just give the other copy to a friend.

Mine was dispatched too from Amazon UK.

I've havent followed the whole LE saga. I pre-ordered the only edition listed on Amazon at the start of January. I'm assuming it's just the standard one? Kinda prefer the standard cover looking at those pictures.

Is there any other differences between the two versions? I only purchased based on what I saw from the original Japanese book, and have not followed the English localisation at all.

I need to correct myself here. TFAW did, at some point between Jan. 4th and now, change the release date for the LE from Feb. 12, to Jan. 29th. I hadn't noticed.

Amazon still lists the date as Feb. 12th.

the limited edition has "a faux-leather hardcover that bears the symbol of the Gate of Time, debossed, on the cover, and gold gilded page". No additional content.

Kinda bummed that the spine of the limited edition book has the book title in English. It's a stupid thing to get bummed about because yo how else will you find it on the shelf, but if it's meant to look like it could have come right off the bookshelf of whatever Hyrule library, then use that alphabet you know? That's obviously way more of a fandom thing that you would expect from a limited edition extra rather than a book that has to sell on its own, of course.

Looks totally awesome, and if I were a bigger Zelda fan I'm sure I would have lined up as well but my Amazon pre-order is still there. Enjoy!!

What the hell? I just checked my Barnes and Noble order from their website and it says it's cancelled. FRUSTRATING.

At least Amazon isn't horrible and I still have my regular order in. I had an old credit card on file and they sent me an email saying it needs fixed. I got no email or anything from Barnes and Noble about it being cancelled. I mean, I know it was a long shot with how long the orders were open for but I got nothing in my spam or inbox.

Yeah I think Barnes and Noble pretty much canceled everybody's without notification.

...wat? What the hell? What's the point of calling it "Limited Edition" then? If that's the case I may very well just try and sell it. I thought there were 8 pages of extra content or something which is the only reason I went for it.

Huh... Looking back in my emails, apparently I did preorder the Hyrule Historia Limited Edition from Things From Another World, and I don't seem to have received a cancellation notice. Maybe I will be getting the Limited Edition after all? o.o For some reason I had assumed that the preorder never even went through.

Because it's limited to 4000 copies?

I noticed my Amazon preorder is now marked as Shipping Soon. Should have it here on Tuesday. Very excited to look/read through it all!

My Amazon.co.uk Regular edition turned up this morning (Ordered it back when I was on a Prime trial). It is utterly stunning. The ONLY thing I will knock against it is that Dark Horse have slapped a fairly large black logo on the spine, otherwise I love how it looks.
