Hyrule Historia is Being Officially Localized, Published by Dark Horse Comics

Sorry that I'm a bit behind here, but what is the difference between the regular edition and the LE besides the faux leather? Anything? Are they the same size? The LE is hella more expensive...

Got mine today.. completely forgot that I had pre-ordered this!

Like others have noted, it's bigger than I thought it'd be. Pretty hefty. It immediately got put into my Zelda treasure chest (along with the other gazillion sealed Zelda items I have in there).. but I'm tempted to order another one that I can actually open and use as a coffee table book.

dammmmmnnnnnnnnn, this book is beautiful as shit!! i don't know what i was expecting, but i for damn sure wasn't expecting the size and quality of it (that's what she said), especially for $20.

I at least expected bigger illustrations and more from older games. I knew ahead that skyward was detailed more, but I guess I was more interested in the older series details than is actually in the book. For example they don't even have any early examples of Ganon from Zelda 1.

I understand your feelings. I feel that the amount of concept art, sketches and photos then weren't to the level they are now. Even when we look at the old days of comic books, the studios use to either give away the artwork or even sometime, throw it away. I do wish there was more but I still feel that you are not left with a book that is bad by any stretch of the imagination.

Just got the TFAW email! Still probably another week or so out from actually receiving it, but at least I know the LE is on its way!

Have you guys ever take in consideration that there might not be much else to show for the older games? If you notice, concept art amount gets larger as the series progresses with the technology at hand. Lower budget = less concept art. Matter of fact it looks like LoZ got a lot more concept art than it really needed considering it was a NES game.

And a couple pics..

Two showed up today from Amazon: I preordered one a few weeks ago, forgetting I preordered one months ago. Derp.

I was fully intending to return one but now that I see it - and since it was only 20 lousy bucks - I think I'll just keep one sealed. So nice.

TFAW just e-mailed me saying my Hyrule Historia LE should be shipping soon!

Just got the email from TFAW too. They charged my card too. I can't believe I'm actually getting this...

Also, under "Pending Pre-Orders" I get this:

According to your pre-order shipping frequency, your next shipment will process on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013. These items will ship within 1-3 business days of this date.

I just unpacked it from the enourmous cardboard box filled with tons of air pouches, and I hate to be "that guy" but I don't even want to open it. Just looking at the cover through the plastic wrap makes me happy ;_;

It isn't even a limited edition.

I'll open it in the morning after new book feeling has worn off (maybe)

One of the two local comic book shops I preordered the LE from contacted me today. Yep, it was just the standard edition, just as I suspected even though they swore to me it would be the LE. Oh well, I hope the other local shop and RightStuff comes through for me!

On another note, I got the standard edition from Amazon today. This is an amazing book!

I'm sure there's less compared to something like SS, yeah, but there's definitely more than is represented here. They were laying out blueprint-sized sheets of graph paper that tiled out Zelda 1's dungeons in the Iwata Asks for Zelda's 25th. They pulled out some of Miyamoto's sketches and design docs for Arcade Punch-Out in that game's Iwata Asks. It seems like they're actually very thorough at cataloguing and saving their artwork (unlike many JP companies), it's just that until Hyrule Historia, they never really let anyone else look at it in any appreciable capacity.

Hopefully HH burning up the charts like it is makes them a bit more willing to share in more, and more focused, collections.

Oh the amounts I would pay for Metroid, Star Fox and Mario artbooks ....

an F-Zero book would be awesome just because it would reveal a ton of the mystery behind the series and the platforms it was developed on.

just opened it.

like a bazillion pages dedicated to skyward sword.

1 page front and back for Majora's Mask.

FML :<

but it is a gorgeous book.

I got the confirmation Email this morning. It says the expected ship date is Saturday, but I'm hoping I get it tomorrow!

Anyway, I really would have liked more attention to older games, especially Majora's Mask. I would have loved to see all of the concepts for the Fierce Deity.

Spent a good part of the night going through the timeline section and just having my mind blown over and over again. Poor OOT Link, he is the most important Link and yet he just gets shit on in every single outcome. He's either killed, forgotten, or thinks he's forgotten. Actually, the overall story is kind of depressing on a whole.

This book is amazing BTW, the concept art is great. Wish there was more of the old stuff, but ah well.

If anyone was looking for some stuff. . . .

They might want to keep their eye on this page.

http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-legend-of-zelda-shigeru-miyamoto/1113851197

It is not listed in search since they removed and canceled everyones orders. . .

However the "Usually ships" just changed from "Special Order: 1 - 3 Weeks"... to Usually ships within 24 hours - Same day delivery in Manhattan.

I think B&N just scanned in their shipment, which means they may open the site for orders soon. Or. They may only sell it in store. They are one of the listed sellers in the Blog post after all.

What do I know!? Could be nothing. Just food for thought.

I doubt other series have the same clout of Zelda, but I really hope the success of HH encourages Nintendo and other publishers to more often translate the many, many art books released in Japan on a regular basis.

I want a Metroid one more than even this.

I have the Majora's Mask strategy guide and it's filled with art they could have put in there but they didn't.

Got mine today in the US. It's mother FUCKING incredible. I would be reading it (or playing BO2...) if I didn't have homework to do for tomorrow.
