Hyrule Warriors is lookin' pretty rough on the original 3DS hardware. (Video Inside)

I can't help but wonder if Xenoblade sales on the N3DS were bad enough that Nintendo pushed KT to get the game running on the original 3DS hardware.

I don't know first hand, but I can't imagine that Xeno 3DS sold incredibly well. It's a niche game for a niche audience, and while the game technically functions, it's far from the ideal way to play.

They should have just wanted a couple months to out a Enhanced version of the WiiU game on NX Home and NX Go instead of this.

I could see that happening, as the New 3DS hardware itself solid okay when it came out in all regions, so not many people can get Xenoblade 3D. The issue is that the game was meant to be the 'push' (alongside Monster Hunter having a 'High' Running mode with 60FPS and C-Stick support and MM3D having the C-Stick features) for people to get a New 3DS and it wasn't enough.

So considering this game is having the Zelda name (a huge name), they wanted the most sales. Ironically, this could of been the game that pushed more people into getting a New 3DS as Zelda is huge name and having a Zelda exclusive on New 3DS (port or not) could be enough for people to upgrade.

Honestly Im impressed the new 3ds handles it as well as it does, I was expecting the new 3ds version to run about as well as the old 3ds does. Its a shame this has to be a cross gen(? is that what Id call it) 3ds game, it falls into that problem where placing it only on new 3ds would probably mean low sales, but the reason for that is that there is only one N3ds exclusive, so placing games like that on 3DS means possibly more sales, but I guess this is gonna be how it is.

Still on the fence about if I want to double dip on Hyrule Warriors, I didn't like it as a massive warriors fan and I felt it was one of the weakest warriors mechanics and content wise (with tons of forgettable shit content and a lackluster story mode all the more disappointing after the incredible wealth and depth of Samurai Warriors 4) and Dragon Quest Heroes absolutely shit all over it, but sadly that sold less.

It looks like all the enemies are 2D billboards even on New 3DS. Ouch.

They're not 2D though, they just have choppy animation. The character models are updated only every 10 frames or so. It looks super stupid and it really makes me ask myself why I should buy this version when the Wii U version is a thousand times superior to this one.

It's at nearly ~200K (not including digital) in the US, which is decent enough for a handheld game, not even considering it's a straight port from a relatively small team.

Is the CPU the only thing that changed between models?

Its definately the big one. Going from 2 cores at 268mhz to 4 at 804 mhz is nice:

Old3DS: ARM11 2x MPCore & 2x VFPv2 Co-Processor 268MHz(~268123480 Hz).
New3DS: 4x MPCore, 4x VFPv2, able to run up to 804MHz (see below). It also has an optional 2MB L2 cache.

Well, the big reason is if you want to play it while you're away from your Wii U.

There's the CPU (now 4-core, ~800mhz) and more RAM. I think it's 256MB of main RAM (up from 128MB) and 10MB of video RAM (up from 6MB). The extra video RAM is part of the reason why MH4 and others have better textures, if I remember right.

Not all of the extra RAM is usable, I think more of it gets reserved for the OS.

Well, I have that Pokemon n3DS coming in, and I have it in at CAD$35 as a pre-order, so I might keep it... but man, that's so disappointing.

seems like I'll be watching Linkle's story on youtube or something, this looks bad, I wanted the weapons and the characters asap, but I'll cross my fingers hoping that at least those will be available as dlc for the Wii U version someday, if not, GG Linkle.

What really upsets me about this aside from the fact it runs badly is that theres exclusive content trapped on this version just like with Smash 3DS. Why do i have to buy a worse version of a game i already own to experience it?

Those graphics man...

I can't wait for 3DS emulation to be a thing. This shit hardware really just ruins the games for me. What's intolerable though is these quality of visuals combined with a game that can't hold it's framerate. Pathetic.

I'm salty the balance changes and new adventure maps are apparently not coming to the Wii U even with the transfer.

Emulated 3DS version would still look like dogshit. Just wait for Wii U emulation. :^)

Unfortunately, not too surprised. I thought it looked rough from the beginning. I also would have preferred they just ported it to the NX in the launch window.

Noticed this video posted by Nintendo-focused Youtube channel "TiLMENDOMiNATiON" that compared Hyrule Warriors running on both the original and "New" 3DS hardware side by side.

What an odd sentence OP...

Anyways thankfully I have a N3ds but I still don't know if I want to pull the trigger on it.

Got too burnt out on the Wii U version to pick this up, but as a OG 3DS owner that version is not looking good at all. :|

I'm going to echo others here and say it was probably pushed to have a 3DS version so it could reach more people than just the n3DS crowd.

Looks terrible on both, but it's really not in a marketable state on the OG 3DS. I'd be embarassed and ashamed to release that if I was Nintendo.

Omega Force musou games have never been particularly good on handhelds. I think Samurai Warriors 4 Vita has probably been their best effort.

The N3DS version looks decent enough. That OG video is legitimately awful though.

X3D did fine (WWLTD should be around 300k), better than one could have expected for a side-port.

When I saw GamExplain cover the 3DS JP Demo....I got that impression right away :(. This clearly was a New 3DS title (like Xenoblade 3D) but Nintendo decided they wanted more sales due to the Zelda name.....thus, the game got a 'High' and 'Low' running mode that activates depending on the platform.

Check again who made this game.

The CPU for the N3DS is 3x the clock speed and GPU has 2x the memory correct? It really shows here, the OG3DS looks like an original DS game since it can barely run with only a few enemies on screen with the detail painfully low and washed out.
Additional RAM aside, the N3DS CPU has 2x the physical cores and 3x the clockspeed. For a game like this, it would make a world of a difference.

Yikes. Could deal with the New 3DS but I'm not buying a whole system just for that. Hopefully all the stuff on this version will make it's way to the Wii U one. Not holding my breath though. Has there been any word on that?

Lol naw, it's just the "Nintendo-focused Youtube channel "TiLMENDOMiNATiON"" Seems wierdly...formal? idk.

Ah. I know the guy that runs the channel used to be a member here but was banned, so maybe I was a bit nervous about posting the video because I thought there may have been some kind of backlash. So I just kept things upfront.

I figured this would end up being the case, I always thought it looked to be doing more than I would've expected from the 3DS.
Hopefully one of my New 3DS owning chums will buy it and let me nab the characters for Wii U or whatever the deal is.

Ah ok, didn't know he used to member (I'm subscribed as well). Why was he banned?

Even on New 3DS this is a HUGE downgrade.

Hope they will release the new content on Wii U because I am certainly not putting money in this 3DS version.

I would pay another 20 to get the exclusive stuff here on the WiiU as DLC. This port just doesn't seem worth the performance.
