I can't believe how bad Amazing Spider-Man 2 was

I honestly think when people say these new films( terminal flaws and all) are better than the Raimi ones all I hear is,"Boy, special effects sure have gotten better since 2001."

The movie could have been improved merely by tweaking the the cast. Jamie Fox should not have been allowed anywhere near the movie and the guy that played Osborne/Green Goblin was pretty terrible too. At least Marvel usually does a good job with the casting.

It is weird how many people want Marvel to get the rights.

They are like 50/50 when it comes to producing movies, and that's being generous.

I disagree, but even 50/50 is far better than the treatment Spidey is getting by Sony at the moment.

I don't even necessarily want him to return to Marvel (Sony's Spider-Man 2 is my favorite comic book film of all time!), but a reboot is a must at this point, as fucked up as that may sound. The team behind the Amazing films is god awful.

WHAT!?!?

Jamie Foxx and Dane DeHaan were the best actors in the whole movie. You can't blame them for the shitty script. They personally did a fantastic job considering the material they were given.

Mmmm...But the reality is, like, the opposite of that, bro.

I honestly think Foxx is a terrible actor. His comedy work is so bad I can't respect him in a serious role and this one seemed to fall somewhere in between. As for DeHaan, it may be that he was in a terrible role but I don't know his other work so this is all I have to judge him by.

I just finished watching it and I feel the same way. I liked the first 30 minutes or so, up to the first fight in Time Square. After that the movie went to shit. It just kept getting worse as it progressed too. It was amazing. It had no actual plot, just a bunch of subplots that were mostly uninteresting. I couldn't stand the
Peter's dad
subplot. I got so angry whenever it went back to it. I couldn't even admire the webslinging as much as I did the first movie's because
there was barely any Spider-Man.
Spider-Man was funny, Gwen Stacy was lovable, and I Harry's actor and the
Goblin
fight, but fuck everything else. This is one of the most frustrating movies I've ever watched.

This was the first Spider Man movie I didn't see in theaters, and I don't think I'll ever watch it. The first Amazing Spider Man was garbage and this one seems even worse, if possible.

I enjoyed AMSM 1 and 2.. But then again I'm not a huge comic nerd. Know nothing of Spiderman outside of whats been on movies. It seemed a lot of people in theaters who watched it with me enjoyed the movie too. It was hilarious though hearing a LOT of people collectively sniffing their mucus back during the last 15 mins of the movie. Gwen's
death scene
to the end was nicely done. Looking forward to 3rd if they make one.

how about if disney gets spiderman back they have to keep andrew garfield as spiderman,

What really bothers me is that the first two Raimi movies perfectly capture the comic and are so much better than the new movies but because of studio and producer pressure to add Venom and overload the 3rd movie, they're collectively shit on.

At this rate, Sony is going to have to reboot again in about 5-7 years.

I'm having a real hard time finishing it. On GAF while watching so that should tell you something. I am not attached to any of these characters.

I thought it was okay. I didn't like was the Harry/Goblin sideplot. It was rushed and took away from Electro, who just sort of there.

And the whole "Peter's dad had a secret subway base thing" was hilariously stupid.

The only way I could forgive the amazing spider man series is if the main villain for 3 is the rhino.

ASM2 was still better than ASM1

I will never forgive ASM1 for rebooting another long ass origin story but worse

I personally felt better about 1 when I saw it. It's been quite a while since Ive seen it though.

It was awful in almost every way imaginable.
Gwen's death was handled well, I think, or at least good enough
, but everything else absolutely sucked. I can't believe how terrible they made the Green Goblin, and Electro was an entirely pointless character. Sony really needs to hurry up with whatever they're planning next so that it bombs and we move on step forward to finally getting Spidey back in good hands.

I'll join the hate party. The story sucked and the whining romance thing just completely disengaged me from the movie. I thought the Goblin look was pretty good, but literally ever other design and plot decision were horrible. If they just edited together scenes of spidey swinging and fighting criminals with zero context for 2 hours, it would be a far better movie.

I don't know that I agree with the "it should go back to Marvel" crowd. I don't think I want to see Spider-Man enter the MCU assembly line of movies with passable but entirely forgettable plots, flatass and same-y cinematography, and where the only thing that gets people talking is the 10 second after-credits teaser that inches along some drawn out overarching plot for the next Avengers film.

That doesn't mean that I prefer what Sony did with the ASM2, I'm just saying Sony should get their heads out of their asses and make a Spider-Man movie with a script that's worth a damn. If they had just had writing that wasn't atrocious there would've been a real possibility at making this reboot work. The action captures Spidey in film very well, Emma and Garfield have tremendous chemistry, some visual elements like the costume were fantastic, it just needs a good script ffs.

It's a guilty pleasure of mine. The movie is bad and i can recognise that but there are parts i enjoyed, namely when he is actually sipderman. I felt like they nailed spidermans humor and fighting style quite well. It's a shame about everything else though.

The Amazing Spiderman 2 was just terrible and while not perfect, I still prefer Toby over Garfield's take.

I'd totally be up for another reboot as long as it isn't yet another origin story.

Glad i'm not the only one, it was horrible, to the point i couldn't even finish it and that's rare for me. The amount of slow-motion cg was crazy too, ugh

Really enjoyed this. The electro fight near the end with the incy wincy spider bit was fun and the GF enjoyed it. Its basically popcorn action flick. You guys need to loosen up.

This was the worst Superhero movie in a long time. Like Batman and Robin except not trashy good. Just plain bad.

Very few enjoyable moments. Way more unbearable ones. Felt like they tossed out half the script and replaced it with nothing.
  • They got Spideys movement right
  • I liked the colorful visuals
  • Harry was telenovela awful
  • The way the story 'unfolded' ... no words - Harry and Peter being best bros except they saw each other the last time they were 10 is kinda funny. The whole blood thing is bonkers. The secretary listening in on a conversation between security guys '...and it's somewhere hidden in this building!!!!'
  • Electro's birth and birthday were hilarious!
  • Gwen and Peter got chemistry
  • Aunt Mary working in a hospital because - the blackout!

Overall it was just a waste of time.

Here's my question. Some spoilers ahead, but if you haven't seen this movie then lucky fucking you.

So there's the climactic fight between Spider-Man and the Green Goblin. The Goblin knows Spider-Man's true identity. The Goblin is defeated and knocked unconscious under light rubble, but not before
he murders Peter's true love
.

And Peter just lets him go. Allows him to get picked up by his own men.

The guy who knows Spider-Man's identity, the guy who
killed Peter's girlfriend
, the guy who's in charge of a multi-billion dollar bad-guy factory... and Peter just doesn't even think to look for him.

It's a shitty, shitty, boring, dull, pointless film, but that aspect actually made me a little bit angry, which is stupid because this flick doesn't deserve to elicit emotion from anyone other than the Trans4mers crowd.
