Really? Because I LOVE seeing the same 5-6 gifs used over and over and over and over. They are a crutch for people that don't have anything constructive to add to a conversation and are one of the many reasons GAF has been going down the shitter the last 2 or so years.

Control Panel -> Edit Options -> Uncheck "Show Images (including attached images and images in code)".

There, now you never have to see images and GIFs again in GAF. So much bitching over something you can turn off completely.

And I don't know how your poor soul will take seeing GIFs in any of the remaining 2,591,856 sites on the internet that use them.

thread is fun and all but i get what OP is saying. the passive aggressive reaction gifs dont add to discussion and often derail threads. patronizing posts - even when they're warranted - can have repercussions and turn a thread sour. it's not a good practice in controversial topics where the atmosphere is already tense.

Which I am guilty of, sometimes.
Context reveals, though, that these are hardly reaction gifs. They're gifs that attempt to be an alternative representation of a discussed scenario, or expose the absurdity in some argument, or maybe even be an argument by itself. If you can find an example where I use some gif to depict myself while adding absolutely nothing to the conversation, you'll have achieved... slightly more.
