I don't get the appeal of cream

It's rich and creamy and delicious.

Having said that, whipped cream from a can is shit - the air escapes way too quickly and you're left with a flat puddle of it after a minute or two. Beating it with a mixer yourself (or by hand, if you're a masochist) gives you a much sturdier, creamier, heavenly mixture.

Particularly whipped cream.
It is basically fat.
Someone explain cream to me. Why eat it?
And add it to things, ruining said things.

Don't like whipped cream either. When it does end up on coffee/ice cream/whatever dessert I order, it must go

Do you also feel this way about ice cream? I can understand not eating it because it's terrible for you, but the fact that fat and sugar taste good is usually pretty well understood.

I don't like the texture.

Also, for people who keep pointing out that fat is delicious. I meab I also don't get lard. But I guess people eat that too for the same reason.

I can see incorporating it into cooking.

I just don't see the appeal in eating it by itself.

No one eats lard by itself. You eat that shit with whip cream like a true American.

So how do you feel about meringue?
I'm not sure what relation this has to whipped cream. Or general cream.

Same with ice cream. Ice cream and whipped cream are not really similar.

Also, I don't think my aversion to cream/whipped cream is because it's unhealthy. I don't consider myself particularly healthy.

Whipped cream is made from heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla. Vanilla ice cream is made from heavy cream sugar, vanilla, and some egg yolks. They're not that dissimilar.

Meringue is more similar in technique than ingredients. I was wondering if it's the airiness that you just don't like.

I don't get it either. Even when I order drinks from coffee shop, it bugs me that I have to tell them "no cream" please or else I'll have to spend minutes scooping it out. It looks disgusting to me.

there's no mystery here. it's not your thing. it's some other folks thing.

i hate whipped cream. love creme fraiche with eggs. *shrug*

I like texture. Just not this texture.

I think in retrospect I'm mainly referring to whipped cream.

And that people eat it by itself.

Oh man, I love whipped cream by itself. It's delicious just on its own. When I prepare strawberries or pie for myself, there's at least a 1:1 ratio of whipped cream to other stuff.

It's airy. It's fluffy. It's sweet. It's creamy. It's great.

It doesn't have anything to do with healthy. Butter, cream, and I guess any dairy at that point, are fundamental to many non-American recipes. They have been for thousands of years. What is some "actual food" that you cook?
Chicken breast, salmon, tuna, vegetables, beans, brown rice. Why?

It tastes good. I don't really know how else to put it lol. It's like anything that is particularly unhealthy but tastes good.

You speaking on behalf of the rest of the world, and associating using butter and cream when cooking with only Americans, and that making it not actual food is fascinating. Just curious what you considered actual food and what/how you cooked.

I wouldn't bother. Someone with a name like that who answers questions in this way seems like they're probably trolling and trying to waste your time.

Speaking of cream, and I hope it's not too much of a detour;

Of all of the classic rock groups of the glory days, Cream is one of those I never understood. I hear a lot of hype about them and that they where good- But then again, I am not that much into Eric Clapton either.

What was the appeal of Cream? I know White Room, but that is about all I can recall.

Have you tride listening to their greatest hits album? They're just your average rock band with three of the greatest guitarists of all fucking time.

Eta- nvm, thinking of some other band that had Eric clapton.

I eat whipped cream by itself but it's so good on strawberries and stuff toooo! It's like semi solid milk really

Also pasta with cream and grated parmesan is life.
