I don't like calling people out but...

We need a new meta GAF joke. Someone do something stupid.

There's more to it than that, but someone else can explain it better than me.

Wasn't he called out about posts on the gaming side where he started having a go at a junior, who then proceeded to pick him up on his edited opinions/facts in one of his posts?

A lot of people think he stole some of the money GAF raised for his mom to buy drugs.

A lot of people think Slenderman is real, and that Rainbow Dash is the real cause of most Airplane crashes. Lets not repeat unfounded rumors, and if you must, at least call them unfounded rumors when you do.

We should give away NeoGAF colored cupcakes from trucks to people on the street. With a card telling them to believe.

Others did post about him being a drug addict and whatnot, but that's his personal life, isn't it?

It involved GAF and the membership. Again someone else can explain it better though

Banning people for things they say and do OFFSITE sets a very bad precedent.

For example, the S.Awful forums do that. People get banned all the time for criticizing the admins/mods on other forums (if they're caught).

Probably best to just let the issue lie.

Well, to be more specific, GAF raised a bunch of money for his mom and then he bragged about spending thousands of dollars on a "drug vacation" shortly thereafter. GAF called him out on in and then he promised to go to rehab.

Pretty much this.

It was highly...highly questionable and suspicious.

Hmm but that was pretty recent. It's been goin on way longer.
Yeah, maybe it goes back to when he beat up his mom because she wouldn't let him continue to watch South Park and he then went crying about it on NeoGAF after being released from police custody. Or maybe it goes back to that time he proudly admitted to taking part in home burglaries as a teenage junkie. Or maybe it goes back to that time he was a shitty and unfair moderator.

It's like getting fired from your job because you have pictures of yourself drinking on Facebook.

Well, damn. We're done here.

Again, I never stated "BAN HIM!". What I stated is that it's a bit sad when you recognize some of the posters here and their lives aren't as gloomy and beautiful either, yet they will degrade others.

I donated for Amri0x's mother. He used it for drugs? Good for him. I know that on my end I have no remorse. I forgive him. Can't others too?

Hell, most of the people saying shit about him didn't even donate.

Do you by any chance...have a youtube account?

Yeah... Amirox hate predates the "drugs for mom" and "post editing gate" scandals.

I shouldn't laugh

See, this is what I'm talking about. A lot of people are going through similar dysfunctional problems in their life. Does that mean you degrade them?

People say 4chan is bad for doing this. I can't relate to 4chan as I don't post there, but I do relate to posts here and I love all of you equally whether you are being mean or not. I don't care if people think that Amir0x couldn't care less, I would do the same for anyone and everyone out there.

Maybe people don't seem to have that human connection when posting online. Again, when you're a teenager, you do shit. I've don't shit and I may or may not regret it. Everyone does shit. People should learn to forgive. If Amir0x was that bad of a person, wouldn't you think mods would've taken action against him?

Anyone have any screenshots or links to off-site blamespace comments/reviews? I've seen them before and they're hilarious but I'd like to revisit them for shits and giggles.

(I've seen the YouTube comments, but I don't think I've seen the Amazon reviews.)

People change and grow. Amir0x may not be Mother Theresa but you assholes responsible for the personal attacks and comments and thumbs ups are assholes too.

Ultimately you can't police people's behavior, and any attempt at shaming them online feeds into their ego and puffs up their irrational grudges. Yes, it's stupid, immature, and stopped being funny after the first time it happened, just like every internet meme out there. But it's also trolling and there's really only one tried and true solution for internet trolling. Just ignore it and move on. Eventually these people will behave like that with their gaf account, get banned, and you won't even see them here anymore. Believe.

I don't think it's an issue of forgiveness, or malice. It's gone beyond actual emotion into just a running joke. Who Amirox is and what he did or didn't do isn't the point anymore, it's just the race to be first to post the meme. It will die out in time but honestly, drawing attention to it has probably tripled the lifespan.

It is quite shitty, and it's not something that should go on I will agree in a civilized community full of adults. BUT once you put your personal life out in the public is no longer is personal and becomes public. I was a lurker back then and remember reading ALOT of those threads and to me it just looked like someone... lost. But once he posted all of that information it was now public domain, and some individuals with grudges for being banned or talked down too or whatever would obviously take it out on him.

It goes with the territory of being a "public" figure.

This is a level of meta-GAF I never knew existed. I'm getting too old for this shit.
Same here. I mean, just when I thought I was keeping up with a good chunk of it, I find I've still been missing a lot of key parts lately.

I'm just too old man...

Hell, most of the people saying shit about him didn't even donate.

You are a cartoon character.

Should we degrade others for the problems in their lives? No. Because we shouldn't know about personal issues they're having, especially when they have somewhat sever legal consequences. If you treat the internet like your therapist, you're going to get shit on. That's the basis of the internet, always has been and, until everyone is forced to use their real name and have their home geotagged to their universal account, it always will be.

There are very real places to get help in this world, a forum about video games should be the last possible place to look.

However, current members getting personal about someone's life is just sad.

You are assuming that everyone knows the story of his mother. The Amir0x jokes aren't very funny, but they are really just a running gag that's pretty much unrelated to the person Amir0x at this point. They are just the the NeoGAF version of "XY was here".

In that light, I think it's a mistake to be so harsh about it. Mother jokes are a meme too; not a particular funny one, but people don't use them maliciously. In this case it's a little shitty, but I don't think that he necessarily knew of his mother's cancer.

I don't care who Amir0x is or what he has done or who he had banned or why he got demodded or what personal struggles he is going through. You people are giving NeoGAF a bad name.

/Rant
Eh? All the shit talking gaffers do upon each other and you choose what's essentially become a gaf meme.

The thread it was in was nuked by Evilore, since it crossed a line, not sure if anyone saved the screencap. I can't even find the book on amazon anymore.

Edit: found book, but his review is taken down. Guess it was one of those great "had to be there" moments.

I thought you are going to call people out about something important. Yea, I don't agree with talking about his mom like that, but damn.

I don't even know what the memes are. Guess I don't follow all the drama as much as I do. But I did donate to his mom. Hope she's well.
