Despite the recent thread about Nintendo's metacritic average this year, I feel like the Wii U has Nintendo's highest quality output at least since SNES, perhaps ever.

Nintendoland (yes, Nintendoland)
SSB 4 Wii U
DK Tropical Freeze
Mario Kart 8
NSMBU/NSLU
Splatoon
Captain Toad
Bayonetta 1&2
Yoshi's Wooly World (every bit as good as YI SNES IMHO)
These games are all nearly flawless experiences to me. Then there's several fantastic titles that are perhaps less objectively fantastic, but ones I still enjoyed immensely.

Lego City Undercover
Hyrule Warriors
Super Mario Maker
NES Remix 1&2
Pushmo World
The third party support just hasn't been there though, outside of a couple great ubisoft titles and some indie games, and the hardware is still quite expensive. I understand why the system hasn't sold great, and I hesitate to say that it deserves the Wii's success given all the missteps, but CERTAINLY the software on it deserved much higher sales. It's really sad how few people will ever play Pikmin 3 or Wonderful 101.
