I forgot how good Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is on the Wii U

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
Just played online for an hour with another GAFer aka Broggie Doge, and we had a blast. Neither of us had played in forever, but man the matches were fun. We both won some and lost some both in total blowouts and last second hits ftw.

Game ran super smooth for us too. Outside of having to quit every few matches to change up characters the game was virtually ace!

Oh and that Bob vs Bear both with Mario costumes was hillarious!!!

I just wish the fight sticks were still available. I love the game but I hate playing with a controller.

Amazon still has them. They just aren't near as cheap as when Mad Catz was clearing them out. It's like $130 on Amazon right now FYI.

I wonder if the Wii U version outsold the Ps3 version, which by the way I'm pretty sure PlayStation is always the platform where Tekken sells the most by a pretty large margin, even after going multiplatform

Yeah I bought it just for kicks n giggles dinner I already had the PS3 version and it surprisingly was very smooth in comparison.

A little off-topic, but related - what any of you would recommend from the library of Wii U multiplats? I have basically every Wii U exclusive aside from Wii Fit U and Sonic games, and I am looking for more ways to expand my collection, as well as find and play good games I probably missed.

Does anyone else have disc error issues with this game, specifically due to the label on the disc flaking off? I got a copy from gamestop's website and the Wii U couldn't recognize the disc at all. Got a second copy, new case and all, game worked fine for about a month. Now, it still works but can't play ending movies without a disc-read error, which is a real pain because i have to eject the disc before the Wii U will let me do anything else.

Edit: Forgot to add, the first disc had a noticeable hole in the label side of the disc near the center. The second is beginning to flake.

TTT2
NFSMW
MH3U
Batman Arkham City
Deus Ex Directors Cut

As another poster said you can find a lot of these super cheap. I got a used copy of Tekken for like $10 at GS one day last year.

I haven't had that issue.

Is the game still active? I bought it near launch with the intent of finally learning Tekken....that didn't happen but I had fun with the other modes. Honestly, I'd prefer if Smash just copied the arcade mode from TTT2.

Is TTT2 still $55 on the eShop?

I don't know about US, but here in EU it seems like every third-party developer except Ubisoft just forgot about dropping eShop prices whatsoever. I remember Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper cost about €50 or €60 (I don't remember exactly, but it cost even more than Hyrule Warriors, not even counting DLCs)... bought it for €2 in shrinkwrap, LOL.

But, again, Pilotwings Resort (3DS) is still full-priced on eShop, despite being ultra cheap for Nintendo game (less than €10).

That's actually one of the reasons I want to dig in that direction. :)

I'm not really that good at Tekken ever since, but I had a blast playing it online when I got this. If the community on the Wii U is still active I would like to give it a go again.

Not a chance. As I understood it, the Wii U sales for the game were disappointing, even atop the disappointing overall sales of the game.

The one thing wrong with this game (aside from costumes and and accessories costing less in game currency) is that the custom drawing feature for characters is restricted to only 19 costumes total. Why? You can easily have matching with all 4 characters having custom drawings so why restrict it to 19? We can plug in a hard drive for god sakes. It's infuriating because the roster itself is 59 characters.

Anyway it's probably my favorite Wii U third-party game (and I own over 15). It's already an amazing game on any platform thanks to the large roster and insanely large customization options not behind DLC. The various modes and gameplay options are very nice.

On Wii U the bonus features only make a superb game better. There are the Nintendo costumes including many characters being able to wear Snoop Lion tracksuits (which I find beautifully stupid). The ability to draw on any character as part of a costume (though it's restricted). The two new modes are unique and allow the game to function as a party fighter as well. Finally the Tekken Supporters mode provides the small but incredibly convenient ability to just spend 2 million g's or so to unlock all of a character's custom bonus outfits and accessories as opposed to having to grind for them piece by piece (you still have to grind for money but it's comparably much quicker to individual unlocks).

Is TTT2 still $55 on the eShop?

Yes. It's still $35 on PSN (it launched at $50) too so the disparity isn't gigantic. The sad part is I bought the Fall launch and would buy an additional digital copy at $30 or even $40.

No real Tekken Tunes is also a bummer, since switching up the music can help freshen up stages after you've sunk a ton of time into them. But, overall I agree w/ you that it's a great port.

I double dipped on it for Off-Tv play. Totally worth it, as I ended up playing the game more and got pretty hooked on it. The only downside was the lack of custom soundtrack. With that the game would be irresistible to me. As it is though, it's still excellent value. If you approach it like mastering each character is it's own journey, then there is an insane amount of rewarding game time there.

Same. I missed the arcade stick deal. MadCatz were clearing them out.

It's pretty good. I would enjoy it more with a dualshock, though. :P

I need my sticks for Tekken. Grew up with those games in the arcades and it feels so good doing the Kings multi part throws on a stick.

I bought it from the eShop during a sale but I had so much trouble getting a 2vs2 going on with my setup of controllers (GP, CC, CCP, WUP). One of the teams could never tag the other guy in or something. Seemed bugged. Also the UI was wonky. Something like "oh no you didn't just press that button, now we have to this all over again".

Otherwise it looked like a nice job. Played well, the costumes were funny.

3DS Tekken is another hidden gem, even more so than Wii U version I'd say. We gave that and a New 3DS XL to my bro in law for Christmas. He's a huge Tekken fan and he won't stop raving about the 3DS version.

There's only one thing that will stop me from buying the Wii U version: How is the netcode on the PS3 version? I'll buy that version instead if I can have decent matches between the UK and Canada.

I've been able to do that on Skullgirls, and I really enjoyed playing it with gaffer OnettHansen.

But that was just a bad version of T6 right? TTT2 is so much better than even the best version of T6...

I agree as it makes that mode essentially worthless (unless you out the high school song on every stage) but that's all on Nintendo for not having any mp3 support unlike the drawing thing.

Probably not, as he hates T6. I'm no expert though. If he loves it, it's probably closer to T5 or DR, as I think they're his favs.

Nope, it's T6 with TTT2's Heihachi. It's a good port, though, and runs at 60fps with 3D on. it's just sadly lacking in content.

Well then it's so good it made him unhate T6, hehehe. Content probably doesn't matter to him too much as he just likes to do versus old school style.
