• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

I got a N3DS. What's there to do?

I am playing facing raiders! It is way too quirky, but strangely fun! My friend's face having that sinister smile seemed so real :D

The guy sitting in front of me in the lounge is probably call 911 if I continue anymore though :D

edit: is it just me, or is the quality of camera worse than DSi? The colors are all so, well, colorless and washed out. Almost just different shades of grey.

go buy Stella Glow, OP. ace SRPG on the system.

"Greatest Ever Junior Member"
Well you are pretty... Junior-y, I'll give ya that.

That's not how you reach full membership. Just saying.

you'll have a long life her if you keep going like this :)

You're gonna go far here.
always find it odd that all shit posters have to do is pretend they're nice for a couple months, meet the post requirement, and when they reach full membership they can revert to their true shit poster selves AND have stronger immunity to getting banned

Thanks for the game recommendations.

I checked some of them, and MH4:U is actually on sale. Should I go with it, or is Generations better enough/more alive to go with that one?

4U takes better advantage of your new console with texture/frame rate upgrades from the base version. It's on sale for $20 right now and is a great place to start for people that are new to the franchise with it's fairly in depth tutorials.

Last I checked, online was pretty alive.

Please don't give my game away.

It's a very strong SRPG with solid presentation and a decently developed narrative arc, even if it's not thematically interesting. The combat mechanics are relatively flexible and progression is sensible for the most part. It's just a well built game with few obvious weaknesses.

MH4U is the better introductory MH.

I have played Tri on Wii before; will I still enjoy 4U, or is it going to be too similar?

How long is it, and is its story waifu driven? I'm on Fire Emblem Conquest right now so might skip on SRPGs for a bit.

Whatever you do, do not buy Kid Icarus: Uprising without trying it out first. I listened to the GAF recommendations, bought it, and found the characters unbelievably annoying and the controls on the ground to be so bad that I won't ever finish it.

Join us as we wait for Dragon Quest 7 dropping next week.

Can't believe I can type this now.
The wait is going to go by so sloooow

40-50 hours and yeah, it kinda is which is naturally the weak point, but it does have a lot of fun points. Also it's nowhere near as hard as conquest if you're wondering.

Yup, Xaero's bitching about that game on Steam was legendary. Game is trash.

Thanks bro. I'll probably skip it then, but I'll keep an eye.
A quesion as this thread is relevant.

I had a n3DS before but sold it. I had linked my NNID but formatted the system before selling it. Can I relink my NNID if I buy another 3DS or would I have to call Nintendo? I had quite a few digital games too, what are the chances of getting them back?
Afaik, checking with Nintendo can help you get the titles back. This is only off memory though.

So long as you didn't choose to delete your NNID, you'll be able to relink it.

Edit:
Oops, yeah, would still have to call, TheMoon is correct. Apologies.

Still... never choose to delete your NNID, if you plan on keeping it.

Edit2:
Alright, seems formatting the system will unlink the system from the NNID, allowing you to use it on a new 3DS, without having to call.

Apologies for the confusion.

you have to call them to transfer it over to the new machine remotely.

only way without calling them is to do a system transfer with both systems present.

you can't. i'm having that very problem right now. bought a new 3ds, it collected dust so i sold it (unlinked my nnid first, of course) but then i found a great deal and bought one again. now i can't sign in with my nnid, because it says something along the lines of it already being signed into another system of the 3ds family.

luckily i didn't have any games on my account, so i'm not even going to bother calling them. i'll just stick to physical games, which i've been meaning to anyway.

nintendo is so backwards and old fashioned. the nx better introduce a new and decent account system. surely something akin to ps360 isn't too much to ask? microsoft and sony have done this shit almost 10 years ago.

I still use the same NNID on my Wii U so that's good. What about previous purchases? Would a call to Nintendo help me get them back?

All your purchases are tied to that NNID. Call them, have them transfer it to your new system and you're set.

NNIDs are perfectly fine, all they need is that remote deactivation and activation for these exact cases and there's your only problem solved.

you make it sound like it's a minor inconvenience. if you find that a small matter i'm terrified to hear what you consider "big flaws" in similar account systems.

I'm 33 years old and got a 3DS with Pokemon Omega Ruby for my birthday and I've never played Pokemon.. I'm actually enjoying it quite a bit.

You not being able to coop with the controls does not make the game "trash".

Oh I "cooped" fine. The controls are still bad (having to include a stand in the box is just lol), the shoot-em-up parts stink on the 3DS' small screen, and the campaign mode, however far I got in before I sold it, was full of boring levels and uninteresting encounters.

Game is trash.

SRPG fans. Are you over Fire Emblem?

Look past the solid to average Stella Glow.

Get the either:

- Devil Survivor Overclocked
- Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars 3D (what a name)
- Mercenaries Saga 2 (eShop only)

All very unique and awesome!

What is there not to do?
The 3ds has the best catalog in a handheld device. I could name you over 20 games at a must to get.

I bought a 3ds for a trip and wanted a pokemon, but they're still like $40 when Sun and Moon are right around the corner.

Went with Mario 3d, DKCR, and some Sega stuff. Lots of neat things on this.

I downloaded RE: Revelations Demo [on sale for $6.99; Canada...] The 3D is done really well! I notice it flickers occasionally, but it isn't noticeable enough to undermine the awesomeness of 3D. I honestly didn't expect it to be so well done. Is the game itself good? I like horror games [I stopped my play through of Shadow of Colossus to finish RE4 after I had played it for almost an hour, as crazy as that may sound!]

I also had a very happy realization, that I had bought Nintendo Humble Bundle some time ago, and I had completely forgotten about it! So now I have:

Citizens of Earth
Shantae and the Pirate's Curse
Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition
Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure
Retro City Rampage
Nano Assault EX

Buy Rhythm Heaven Megamix this instant.

I can't connect with it to my wireless either -_- It has an enterprise security feature that requires both user name and password, and apparently it is not supported by 3DS. Sigh... I'm going to use my cell as a hotspot for now

Did you try opening the browser after connecting to the network or is it just failing to connect? I vaguely remember being able to get past stuff like that with my DSi, but I might be misremembering things.
