I got banned from a bakery, what's my recourse

To answer some of the questions:

It was for 2 bagels. They didn't have to slice it up, or toast it, etc.. All they had to do is bag 2 of them up and ring them up on the cash register. I'm a regular. They know who I am, They know what I order. I never dine in. I just basically make my order, pay the cash, and walk out the door.

As far as apologize, I don't know how that's going to be feasible, especially with this woman, who seems to have taken her grudge to an old testament level. I can't honestly say that I'm sorry for calling her that, either. To my mind, she was being one. Not simply because of her deciding to close shop early, but her entire attitude, and the way she was carrying herself after the fact. We all encounter people like that. The only caveat I can really offer is to promise not to use the term in the future.

But how long can bans last? Again, this was heat of the moment.

The ban can last however long they fucking want.

Dude, you aren't understanding something. They cant. Like, they cant. When a register is closed and a store is closed, they cannot be started back up until the next business day. Even if they could, at our store it takes 20 minutes to reboot the registers, server, system. Do you seriously think thats a reasonable thing to ask them to do? Such self entitlement. Even if she took the cash for deposit "tomorrow", theres a change that the boss would fire them.

You're not helping your case here. You just admitted you acted like an ass over 2 fucking bagels. Seriously you called her a cunt over 2 fucking bagels? Do you even realize how pathetic that sounds? Also the poster above is right. That register when closed stays closed. They do paperwork every time they close a register for the night. She'd would have had to redo all of her paperwork for the night had she even been able to. She wouldn't have been able to though so the point is moot.

Your real recourse would have been to complain to the property management that they were closing early. Instead, your banning is completely deserved and the most you can do is apologize.

The mentality that you should even have some sort of right to shop at this bakery is gross. You fucked up and made a mistake, it doesn't make you a monster but it resulted in consequences you have to deal with, deal with them. I find the fact that you want to weasel your way back into being served a more degrading notch on your character than your heated mistake, though that one is certainly a pretty nasty one. I at least hope your first thought wasn't to try and find some weasely way to get back in and that you have at least tried some decent human being way. Like offering an honest apology and showing genuine remorse. Even if the woman you were dealing with was her own form of asshole in dealing with you that is not an excuse.

email the mods and see if you can appeal the ban

edit: if one says no just email another one until you exhaust the list

Jesus, the entitlement. You made a mistake. Move on and don't be a dick next time.

Doesn't sound like much of a mistake though.

He's aware of what he did, can lay out the steps of what he did, justifies what he did and doesn't feel sorry for what he did or regret what he did.
That doesn't sound like a mistake. That sounds like he meant to do it.

His response was definitely over the top, but I don't see how he was entitled. If it was still within business hours they shouldn't really be turning customers away should they?

This. Honestly, you lost your cool over so little. I really hope you're disappointed in yourself. This is why customer service feels like a nightmare for some.

Anyway, if you're really sorry, write a letter of apology and ask a friend who is much more affable and charismatic to go deliver it on your behalf. Hope for the best.

Awesome. I just assumed you were a privileged dick and you are! Kings to me!

And yeah, I would just find a new bakery that hasn't discovered that you're a prick yet. Probably easier than hoping they forgot about you.

Why? Your fucking store is open until 6 then im free to come in until 6 and buy shit.

If they want to close early for whatever reason (and don't have an agreement with a building owner - such as stores within a mall), they can do so.

It is not his business. If he doesn't like them closing a little early because there are no customer then he can not shop there. But calling some woman a cunt because he can't get his scone is pathetic.

The bolded part is incredibly laughable. Referring to some kind of complex that she must have while seemingly unknowingly displaying such blatant entitlement and lack of decency is the definition of ironic.

I would've banned you too. And put a picture up so everyone knows not to let you in. It's one things to get annoyed. It's another to go full crazy man.

Here's what you should have done, go in the next day and speak with the manager telling him/her that someone closed up shop early and it was inconvient. Going off like a crazy person obviously didn't work, as it hardly ever does. Next time count to ten and chill or just find another bakery.

I know they can do whatever they want, but what I'm saying is I don't think it's that entitled to walk into a store and expect to buy something within business hours

Lol I agree with that

He doesn't have the right to the bagels, and they can close whenever they want.

This.

As someone who's worked in cafes for years, this is very true. And I OFTEN got into it with customers walking in at the last second because of it. When the register is closed, It's closed. There's no "turning it back on." Closing the register usually involves counting money, printing out final reports, and dropping cash in the safe. If the register is even a penny off after that point, that's yo ass.

Also, OP committed the cardinal sin of cafes/bakeries. There is no type of customer that is MORE disliked than the customer who feels they're entitled to special treatment for being a regular. The second the OP started saying shit like that, he probably solidified that employee's stance of "I'm not doing shit for you."

Its a food establishment anyone who has worked food service will tell you it takes a lot to open and close a place that serves food they can certainly be in the process of shutting down at that time and don't have to serve you. And besides the op's latest post does sound like he's an unapologetic entitled dick. The customer is not always right.

Holy crap I just read the OP. You're a fucking dick OP. Show up earlier or learn to cook your own food, if they're dead they're not going to stay open just to serve precious you at 10 til close

Restaurant hours typically mean "you need to get out of here by this time". Completely normal for the kitchen to be closed an hour before then. Wouldn't find a bakery following this rule to be abnormal. Of course, if there are bagels just sitting out ready to be purchased/taken I don't see what her problem is. If he's truly a regular she could have given him a couple and asked that he true it up the next day.
