I had no idea Overwatch was so badass

Overwatch is pretty much a fighting game, in a FPS form. So it appealed to me so much right from the bat. It helped that these are some of the best character designs since SF2, and Blizzard did a really good job with the world tone, and the beautiful art style.

It gotta be my second favorite IP this gen after Bloodborne.

It took me a while to find its hidden depth, when it came out I played it very casually, but in the past few months put a lot of hours in and learned a ton of deeper mechanics and meta. Great game.
Yup, it's a game where the more I played it, the more I realized I had more to learn.

I didn't even know what "real Overwatch" was until Competitive mode was patched in months after launch. I had already played the game for 100 hours at that point.

There are multiple heroes that don't require you to aim at all. As in BF3, playing for the objective is much more important than playing for your k/d ratio (and nobody get's to see how you did anyway, so you don'T have assholes screaming at you)

Yeah, there are plenty of heroes that do not need precise aim. It's mainly the snipers and Mccree that need you to be reasonably accurate.

Aiming isn't necessarily a focal point in the game. It's not so heavy on traditional hit-scan weapons, and there's a plethora of other weapon styles depending on the character. Sure, guys like McCree and Soldier are the more traditional run and gun. But no one expects a Pharah player to land midair rockets or anything. D-Va, Roadhog and Reaper are shotgun types. Winston is an autoaim, etc. Not to mention you have your abilities to be useful no matter what.

Thx guys, this sounds great. Too bad I've missed the free weekend but will buy when it drops to €25/20 unless I get the chance to try it first... everything seems so appealing. Is there a GAF community to play together?

Your opinion corresponds with my own which makes me think I must not be crazy!

Match ups and unique character powers are all well and good (and they are pretty good in Overwatch) but the actual shooting feels bad to me and the maps are just meh.

Haha. Looking through, there seems to be a few of us. I thought I was crazy, I really can't stand the actual gameplay, loved team fortress and most shooters since goldeneye, but this game just isn't fun. Gunplay doesn't feel like anything to write home about. It feels like someone's basic attempt at making a shooter. I spent a lot of time playing (forcing myself thinking it'd click) and a while I can do well, it isn't fun in the least.

Got to credit this thread and the others who posted here to finally get me to check the game out. I rarely play multiplayer, especially not competitive and especially not shooters, but Rocket League and Hell Divers had hooked me and gotten me into more multiplayer than I played before.

A $40 competitive FPS was a big leap for me, but so far I'm really enjoying it. I'm surprised how many kills I've been getting. So far, I've been playing as the Reaper and robot turret heroes.

Came here to confirm two things:

1. Overwatch is fucking badass

2. Sombra sucks and should rarely be used in Competitive.

I'm that guy, but I'm nice about it verbally at least

Welcome aboard! OW has been a huge crossover hit for a reason, seems like you found out firsthand.

Take your time picking up new heroes, 100 hours on PS4 & 20 on PC and I just played Reaper for the first time.

I play daily, love it. Even a couple of my friends who never do any online gaming these days were really entranced by the free weekend.

So far in Season 3, I haven't won a Competitive game with a Sombra on my team and haven't lost a game against an enemy team with a Sombra on it.

I really want her to become more viable in competitive because she is a blast to play as.

I'm just here to add balance.

Pre-ordered. Day 1 player. Login every few weeks to just try it again.

I try and I try and I try. I read these threads and go back and try again. This is the case where I'm in the tiny minority. I play two matches and I'm done. I like the frame-rate but I just don't think the game is fun. I can't put my finger on it. I can go on a mean kill-streak with Hanzo without even trying and then put the game away for weeks or months.

Over the years I put in ages for Q3A, LFD, BF(3/4), UT2/3, CoD4, Team Fortress 2, Destiny and lately TitanFall 2 I can play non-stop. No matter what I do, what character I play, Overwatch puts me to sleep. I'm happy everybody here likes it, but after 10 minutes, I generally forget I've ever played it.
