I hate Quantum Break's name. Why is it not called Jack Choice (rather than Joyce)

I thought the thread title was a weird mod edit

I also think the game should have been called "Finnegan's Wake"

When Sam Lake first introduced the character at E3, I was convinced that he said "Chuck Choice," which might be the best (or at least the Remediest) name in the history of ever and surely a game starring him would be just as good.
I haven't felt the same about Quantum Break ever since I saw the name in writing. :(

I'm with you OP. I would love if they stuck to their past naming convention. It was kinda their thing so cheesy or not, it would have been ok. I'm more sad that we're not playing as Phil Spencer anymore.

Always thought the character was just named after James Joyce

And as far as I understood, the Protagonist doesn't make the choices in the game, the antagonist does. So Jack Choice wouldn't make much sense

But it's not just Jack's choice it's Paul's to, the new name is unfair.

Call it "Paul Corporate Man Makes Hard Choices Regarding Future Events".

Yeah, with a name like that it needs more Scott Bakula.

This is totally the first thing in makes me think of. But I think that's more to do with the general lack of using the word 'quantum' in things.

The main problem with the name Quantum Break is that it's two generic ass words.

It occupies the same space in my mind as Binary Domain and Alpha Protocol.

I know people with the surname Joyce but not with the name Choice (not that there aren't any I've just never heard that used as a last name before). Maybe they went with Joyce as it's more common.

For a couple of months after it was revealed, every time the name came up I'd confuse it with Quantic Dreams.

I honestly heard Sam Lake say "Jack Choice" on stage at the Quantum Break reveal. That Finnish 'j', I suppose. I only realised it was "Joyce" when I read articles later on.

Max Payne and Alan Wake are way cooler names than Jack Joyce/Choice though.
If they wanted to go this route they should have come up with a better name for their main character.

And besides it seems like this game is more about consequences for society as a whole rather than on a single character, so the change makes sense to me.
