If I drink a pot of coffee, I'll get stuff done at home. It's really hard to concentrate on school work though when there are things to clean, forums, facebook, and now Netflix for xbox. I go to barnes and noble if I want to really crack down for a few hours...one day this year I was there from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m., with the exception of a meal break.

Well, I finished the paper and it looks pretty solid, not half-assed at all. I'm proud of myself and hope this is the start of a new attitude where I stop procrastinating and basically just become a more productive adult. It's time to get shit on track. Now for the girl...wish me luck.

I try to write a page a day, breaking it up into a paragraph every ten minutes or so if I have to. If it's a topic I'm really interested in then I'll be lazy and put it off until the last couple of days or so because I have a habit of writing three pages an hour if I'm really feeling it.

He probably means that he starts the same day the assignment is assigned. That's a good habit because when you do that you have time to ask the teacher for feedback and when you do that it shows that you care and are interested in learning.

I have the same problem, but what helps me sometimes is to just make sure I get a page or two done everyday starting at least a few days before the paper is due, depending on the paper length.
This turns into a first draft, if needed.

One of my main problems is getting started. Once I finally get started on a paper, I become a machine and just knock it out in a few hours. This also happens with other things not just school stuff... like work, social things, even videogames. For example, I've owned Fallout 3 since the day it released at the end of October and finally decided to put the disc in over Thanksgiving and have been playing non-stop ever since. With this paper, when I finally knocked out the first paragraph I just kept going and going until it was finished. I've gotta learn to stop stalling and delaying and just get started on whatever shit I'm trying to do immediately otherwise life is gonna pass me by.Metroidvania said:

It usually involved me watching a lot of TV, doing everything possible to avoid the assignment til I had no other option but to do it. I had a paper like that for one of my upper div IT Management Classes at UCSC. It was a 10-12 page book report (The Innovator's Dilemma), but you had to compare what was going on in the book with another company. It took me the entire day plus an hour before it was due to finish (it was my final for the class).
Ended up with an A paper and an A overall for the class. And I procrastinated like crazy before I wrote that paper (mainly studying for other finals and playing video games).
