Not all too well, at that.
Well, in fairness, I think their goal was to attack people who already have a forum to get their message out and are poorly adapting to the latest technology in a pathetic attempt to remain relevant. For instance, that Congressman whining about having a bad seat for Obama's Congressional address.

When the president is speaking about the health of our nation and where we're going, we don't need live analysis from the people there about nonsense that is completely irrelevant to what the president is saying.

Twitter and text messaging have their legitimate uses just like all communication technology. What annoys people is the over-reliance on it in some quarters or the faux need to look trendy using the latest tech. Any Congressman twittering during the state of the union needs to get punched in the balls. Hard.

I don't understand how anyone can hate texting. It's more efficient. It doesn't mean people will never talk on the phone ever again, but it's easier to have your girl text you "come pick me up", than to call you for every little goddamn thing she wants to tell you, and then one thing leads to another and you end up on the phone for 2 hours having talked about absolutely nothing.

This. Plus a text is way easier to check than a voicemail.

I never check my voicemail and I know no one that does...
I text all the time, it's actually a bigger share of my bill than actual calls.

Social sites are fine, but I'm fucking annoyed with people obsessing over them. I don't give a shit what you are doing every hour. Why do you feel the need to check your facebook/twitter constantly?

Why do you care? If it bothers you so much, then it's clearly your fault. Sign off of FB and stop wasting so much time sorting through, reading and caring about what someone else is doing with his time.

if you have a bunch of people at work, that spend more time on facebook/twitter than actually working is it still his problem?

I'm a member of both. But only use FaceBook.

A few months ago I signed up for Twitter and looked into being abe to use my Net10 cell phone to text my updates to them. It seemed to work. So I went about the day. Came home to find none of my updates went through. Fuck that I said. Haven't been back since, and won't go back until I have a phone that is supported. (It's a POS, it can't download apps. So no Twitter/FaceBook apps can be installed. I'm stuck with SMS/EMS/MMS.)

FaceBook has a permanent tab open in my browser. It works fine. I can't post my status from my phone though since it's not supported, but it's not as important. FaceBook keeps all my friends together. I joined in December after my reunion where I saw people I hadn't seen in 10 years. They're all on there, my family is on there, their friends are on there. People I never thought I'd see ever are on there. And yes, I do wish I could post from my phone, but until someone makes a prepaid phone that does that stuff and costs $15 a month at the lowest I'm stuck with having to use my computer to post.

This is why people hate texting. I end up having to text EVERYTHING, even important shit, because no picks up their damn phone and seem to think that listening to their voicemail will give them herpes or something. It's a PHONE. USE IT LIKE ONE. Seriously, if I wanted a pager, I'd have bought a pager. But I got a phone, so I'd like to use it for it's intended function.

the constant floor of social networking services is getting out of hande, Facbook is the only one i have all my friends on and take it slightly seriously, but much question is, a lot of people are hyping "Twitter", how is it different from Facbook? and is it worth signing up for as an additional social network?

thanks!

Absolutely. We need to know when you're taking a shit or what song you're currently listening to.

hate to be the 'iphone guy' but since i got my iphone in 2007 i started checking my voicemail a lot more -- basically whenever i got a voicemail i'd check it because it was very easy to rewind/see who it was/etc.

and i just read about google voice (renamed grand central) that has a voicemail -> text feature, which would make my life that much easier.

I'm beginning to think twitter is just worthless and another vehicle for companies and celebrities and people to advertise stuff.

I can do the same thing with status updates on facebook.
