It's always funny to see people calling those sad slices of grease the best pizza ever.

Rosti's abomination sounds bizarre but when you think about it, it's a mix of complimentary flavors that if you didn't know what it was wouldn't be quite as offensive. The worst offender here is the licorice, but since it's candy its mostly actually anise flavoring, which would be complimented by the crust if not the red sauce.

I've eaten deep dish with a knife and fork before. I had a toothache so tearing the pizza with my teeth would have been problematic, but the pizza was free and I'm not turning down free pizza from a place I like.

Thanks to this thread...

I just called in a sweet potato pizza with cheese crust and an order of garlic potatoes from Pizza School.

Korean pizza combinations took some getting used to, but now I love it.

It's worse when people eat burgers with a knife and fork. My girlfriend does it all the time and it embarrasses me when we're eating out.

I eat pizza with a knife and a fork when Im watchin a movie or tv show.

My favourite pizza is also vegetarian pizza.

I dont know where I stand

I ate pizza with my hands when I was a kid, but nowadays it's all knife and fork. It's just so much better and you won't get greasy.

Pineapple is great on a pizza. I realized this after having it on kabobs and learning how amazing cooked pineapple is. Then I tried it on pizza and never looked back.

Of course, pizza is eaten by hand... The only utensil needed is the slicer.

Chicago style looks a lot more appealing than New York, being a Brit I've never had either but if you said I could try either it would be Chicago, New York is just oversized thin crust.

You know, I thought that but all the references to folding your slice makes me think it's considerably less shrapnelicious that your average thin crust.

Being from Chicago I love both and Chicago deep dish I use a knife and fork.

I eat pizza with knife and fork most of the time. Means that

1) I don't get my hands dirty
2) can eat it when it's still so hot that it's uncomfortable to eat with hands but not so hot that it melts your tongue.
3) can eat some pizzas that just have such a thin crust it doesn't hold its form well. That kind of pizza is annoying to eat by hands. Some pizzas only hold their form better once they are cold and I don't want to have to wait for that.
4) I can better control the size & "type" of each bite I take with a knife & work. If I see that some part in the pizza has too much of one topping and there's too little of it elsewhere, I can just move shit around with a knife & fork.

Is that supposed to be a real pizza? Because it looks fucking SAD.
It looks like he's eating a piece of cardboard.
Yet again, I've never been to NY so what do I know...

Its much closer to actual pizza than what Chicago people call their stuffed bread bowls.

It's quite simple to deduct why.

Google search for a Italian pizza.
Google search for a Swedish pizza.
Google search for a NYC pizza.
Google search for a Chicago style "pizza"

One of these things is not like the others, one of these things is a fucking food cake.

It's always funny to see people calling those sad slices of grease the best pizza ever.
I've eaten all those I've mentioned and NYC pizza was among the best I have ever tasted, amazing stuff.

You just need to admit the pizza where you live is a crime against humanity. Even hobos in NYC can make a good slice if you ask.

I've had pizza in Maryland. Every time I had some "pizza" there they took a slice of whole wheat bread, slathered it with spaghetti sauce and threw a couple of slices of American cheese on it before putting it in a toaster-oven for two minutes. It was an affront to good pizza and a crime against humanity. The whole state is getting brought up on charges at the Hague as we speak.

If you don't want to go to the best city in the world that's your loss.

I feel like more people need to point out the fact that this much savagery should probably be illegal. god damn, man, let them live!

also, ny-pizza-gaf joining in to agree, please don't ruin pizza by eating it with a fork and knife. just doesn't make sense

also, did someone in this thread put licorice on a piece of pita and have the audacity to call that pizza?

I believe that there's good pizza in NY (never been there), but the ones that you mostly see people eating on TV looks sad.

I mean, this is what I expect when talking about pizza:

It depends on what style of pizza we're talking about. Most US pizza I had is a ton of work with knife&fork thanks to the ultra-thick dough. But when a pizza isn't 80% bread, you tend to need a knife and fork because slices tend to be too thin towards the middle to reliably hold in your hand.

And for the brave among you - try eating pizza with an egg(that wasn't overcooked) without knife-and-fork and let me know how that goes.

The bottom looks fine if the crust is decent quality (don't go eating that style if your a sauce connoisseur though since it's usually very minimal). Overcooking the cheese a bit gives a flavor that I really like.

There's a take-out only place near where I live that does it very well. I forgot the name otherwise I'd totally recommend it in this thread.

Of all the food things people get up in arms about this is one of the silliest. Italians eat pizza with knife and fork so that should never have become a taboo in the first place.
