I am definitely going to do it, my girlfriend thinks I should as well, she is just a bit sad about not seeing me for months, as I am about not seeing her. She understands that this is something I cant turn down, we are just trying to think of some way she is able to come out and meet me or even come with me.

Nah dude, you want to do this yourself. You are still young in your relationship and this is a perfect trip to find yourself and learn more about the world. Its a once in a life time experience, don't ruin it.

I might buy on of these tickets when I decided to move on from the UK, see the prices then though.

Just made one from that site. $7500 for the a trip around the world. From Atlanta to Mexico, Peru, Brazil, South Africa, Ethiopia, Egypt, Rome, London, Madrid and back to the US. Holy fuck I'm gonna do this. Gonna be gone two months and that shit seems incredible.

The idea of doing a RTW trip has been in my head for a couple of weeks now... But yeah OP, do it and have the time of your life.
Between are you doing this alone? If so, you might want to crash at hostel instead of hotels and use sites like Couch Surfing to save money and meet people along the way.

My GF did a combination of that when she studied abroad in France last spring. Saved a ton of money versus going to standard hotels when she traveled.

Yeah, I used to be a travel agent and round the world trips can actually be pretty inexpensive compared to expectations based on single ticket prices.
