People still buy strategy guides in the internet age?
How do you rip music from Wii U games? Also, is the quality of the sound as good with such rips (even if it was possible) in comparison to a properly mastered CD release?Worried about OST? Psh.. just rip or record the music like I used to for games that didn't have an OST. There's always a way.
after Wonderful 101 not getting an OST release, things could go either way.
I'm also a collector and like having physical CDs so I'm not as dependent on online services, just in case Google decides that nope, VG music isn't ok anymore.
Phew, I thought this was about it being exclusive to Wii U.
That's one game + Pokemon. That sure as hell isn't "loads of OSTs" when they can't even get out OSTs for some of their biggest games of the year (Pikmin 3? Wonderful 101? Super Mario 3D World?). And sure, they create a lot of OSTs but most of them are mostly available for Club Nintendo members from what I've seen, which isn't available for about 99% of the countries of the world. And even though Fire Emblem: Awakening isn't even a year old, it seems to have gone out of print/sold out everywhere I looked, so Nintendo doesn't seem to be keeping sure stocks are replenished.
I'm just comparing them to some publishers like SQEX, Konami, Capcom & the like who are still selling OSTs for games 15+ years old and a lot of niche games, whereas I can't find ANY kind of OST releases for some of the most iconic Nintendo games like Donkey Kong Country (the SNES ones), almost any Legend of Zelda or most Super Mario (the only Super Mario OSTs I found were for both Galaxies games), which all have some of the most celebrated VGOSTs.
They also have to worry about who is going to hire them after they have two expensive major tanks in a row.
Well for newer games, I just had to turn off all sound effects and VO(if the options are there) and just record the game audio with my PC and then do a little editing. It takes some time depending on the game, but I think it's worthwhile if you really enjoy the music. How do you rip music from Wii U games? Also, is the quality of the sound as good with such rips (even if it was possible) in comparison to a properly mastered CD release?
I mean, I do know I'll get to listen to the music from Youtube, but the quality takes a noticeable hit and listening to long lists of music through Youtube isn't quite as smooth an experience as just putting a CD inside a CD player/PC or ripping FLACs and listening them on foobar or something.
I'm also a collector and like having physical CDs so I'm not as dependent on online services, just in case Google decides that nope, VG music isn't ok anymore.
Let's be real honest. If it weren't for the WiiU the first one would have been the last of the series.well, lets be honest here there is a great chance that this game is going to be the last in the series because of its exclusivity to the wii-u. the game will bomb and no one is going to make a sequal afterword(for obvious reasons).
What does that matter? If Nintendo hadn't stepped up there wouldn't have been a sequel anyway, and even if there had been a sequel it's extremely unlikely there would be a 3rd game anyway (I think Kamiya has said that too, that there wouldn't be a 3rd game ever for the series).well, lets be honest here there is a great chance that this game is going to be the last in the series because of its exclusivity to the wii-u. the game will bomb and no one is going to make a sequal afterword(for obvious reasons).

Man, it's out of print and so expensive now.Firstly, Nintendo puts out loads of OSTs which you can buy at retail, Fire Emblem Awakening got this cool one:

Every Bayonetta 2 thread is about this!!! EVERY THREAD
How does it contradict with it? Making fans jump through hoops that a majority of mankind can't even jump through (as in, Club Nintendo is only available in a handful of countries in the world) IS treating fans like crap, limiting that even further by making super-limited batches of those OSTs is crapping on them even more (since a minority of those Club Nintendo members can even get the OST no matter how much a larger portion of them would probably want to). The rest of big and small Japanese developers/publishers starting from the much hated big ones like Square Enix and Capcom to more loved smaller ones like Atlus & Falcom all release OSTs from their games to a wider public for ALL (or a majority) of their games, whereas I can't buy the OST for Super Mario 3D World even though it's one of the biggest (gaming) franchises in the world.I didn't want to post list so I only gave two examples off the top of my head. But you're right about finding it difficult to get certain soundtracks and Club Nintendo exclusives are a pain in the neck, but having them available on there contradicts your statement that "Nintendo treats their fans like crap".
But they DO create OSTs. They DO master the music for CD releases and create cover art/CD art and put OSTs through production/printing. Then they decide that only a select few in the world can get them FOR FREE. I'd say that, after going the huge trouble of creating such physical OSTs, releasing those OSTs for general purchase is more profitable than handing out them for free for few Club Nintendo members. If Capcom, Square Enix and the like can make it profitable for niche games like Nier, Drakengard III and Last Ranker, then I'd wager a guess that I'm right about with a 100% certainty that Nintendo could make Super Mario, Legend of Zelda, Metroid etc. OSTs profitable. I mean, the Fire Emblem Awakening OST is SOLD THE FUCK OUT at every Japanese online import retailer I can think of. Clearly there's demand for Nintendo OSTs if even a super-fucking-niche franchise like Fire Emblem can sell out its OST release (in Nintendo's scale, at least, FE is tiny in comparison to Pokemon, Mario, Zelda and Animal Crossing)I guess Nintendo is just not in the business of releasing OST CDs, they do it occasionally for fans on Club Nintendo, maybe they just don't see any money in it.
Then I remembered it was a Nintendo published game and as we all know Nintendo treats their fans like crap in many ways

Maybe you don't give a shit about these things, but I do personally feel Nintendo mistreats me as a fan.ZOMG this whole time I had no idea I was being treated like crap by Nintendo.
It's the truth. I'm not stupid like some other people and I'm not calling people to boycott Nintendo or Bayonetta 2 or anything. I'll continue buying the good Nintendo games I'm interested in. But they don't really treat their fans well IN SOME WAYS. Of course they create great games and I've read decent customer service stories related to Nintendo, but there are ways they treat fans quite badly in comparison to other console manufacturers/publishers.This premise is very suspect.
Well, game stores in Finland don't generally have Square Enix or Capcom OSTs for sale, no (if that's what you mean), but importing from Amazon, AmiAmi, Play-Asia & straight from some publishers/distributors of VG music is a perfectly viable option in this day & age of global marketplaces.Famassu, you've made me curious: are there really many companies that sell OSTs in non-Club Nintendo countries?
Well if you are so concerned about the well being of Platinum why dont you own a Wii U and buy their games?

Well, at least Kamiya hopes its not the last game in the series.

So meanwhile, lets all be happy that we are getting a sequel and hope that someday we will get a third game too![]()
It's up on Steam, but maybe you mean physical?Deadly Premonition sold many more and the company still didn't want to release an official OST.
Really? They uh....buried the IP, until Nintendo paid money to dig it up.I made that exact realization.
Luckily Sega still owns the IP.

Which they licensed to Nintendo and are gaining profit or some other perk on.
Sega were not the actively shopping around with the IP/license. It was Nintendo who went to Sega. If it wasn't for Nintendo, the IP would still be buried 6 feet under. So there's nothing "lucky" about Sega owning the IP. I rather PG owning it.
Sega is totally shit with their IPs, if you aren't a Sonic fan. Yakuza, Bayonetta, VF. They are all dead. Sega releasing Yakuza 1-4 and even the spinoff Dead Souls and gives us the big "fuck you" with Yakuza 5. But wait! We might release Isshin in the West! lol.
By Lucky I meant that Sega probably has control over certain things and can get a OST release greenlit easily.
My dear Beelzebub you can't be this tense. Of course my life isn't ruined by this, just used hyperbole for dramatic effect. But yes, this is possibly shitty news for a VGM enthusiast like me.You have a pretty loose definition of "horrible". This is a new definition of first world problems... :/

And where do they sell them? Here in Europe? In US? Nope. Asia/Japan only. I had to import almost everything. Killer 7 OST. Silent Hill Complete Limited Collection. NieR OST. Xenoblade OST. Space Channel 5 OSTs. Tales of Graces OST. Fragile Dreams OST.
It's the same crap with artbooks. Most of them are only sold in Japan/Asia.
Granted, I managed to order the Hitman 2+BloodMoney+Deus Ex:HR OST from US/EU instead of Asia.
Square Enix knows that the music of NieR is top notch and that lots of people loved the music of that game. That's why they release the OST (still only in Asia), because they know that it will sell well. And it sold extremely well. That's why they also released the piano CDs and the remix CD. For a game like Super Mario Galaxy, that didn't sell that well (in comparison to NSMB etc.), do you really think that there would be as many people buying the OST as there were for NieR?
I like the music of SMG, but I didn't play SMG because of the music. I played it because of the gameplay. The music is not in the same league as NieR.I own the 2-disc SMG soundtrack from Club Nintendo
Digital doesn't count for me. Is it at least lossless or MP3-crap?
Oh shit. I was linked here from another thread and didn't check the dates.Would would you bump an 8 month old thread, and not even mention the fact that there's a 5-CD OST coming?

News to me.
