I can't believe you'd get a payment plan for something like this rather than just save the cash up you'd otherwise pay monthly before finally purchasing it and pocketing what you

Its a figurine ffs.

Also why are you spending most of the thread just band waving at everyone's replies? If you don't have overdraft on your account then the transaction will fail.

Unless you think payment plans actually kick in when you try and purchase something you can't afford? Like really? I mean your quite defensive about not going into overdraft but don't seem to realise it's not a lot different from a payment plan? You seem to want to spend the $35 on your account leaving you broke; to buy a figure which will also indebt you.

Take some advice in his thread. Otherwise I'm not sure what input you want from people or what the purpose of the thread is?

PS; if your account doesn't have overdraft your not getting a payment plan.

Don't have account on their forum side yet, but made a purchase with my reloadable debit card. The purchase total was $240. My card only had $35 on it.

The order seemed to have went through? I assume its going to be declined soon. I'm just so used to insta-declines during checkout with various other webstores.

Doesn't f4f offer payment plans? I thought I read somewhere that they do, I may be wrong.

I bought the Link on Epona statue from F4F a few years ago. Their payment plan is called flex-pay, I believe. I think you choose that method during check out, and you get your first charge about three months before release. Each month is another payment, with the release month being the most expensive to pay the remaining amount. It's still about $150/month or so for their $400+ statues.

As for denied transactions, I got a personal email from them when my final payment was denied for some reason, so we worked it out and used PayPal.

I like F4F, but damn their statues are ridiculously huge. The Link on Epona is like 17" tall. If they weren't so obscenely large, they could be much more affordable and easier to display. It's why I haven't bought anything since then.

Hope you were at least trying to order the Varia or Light Suit Samus statue. F4F is iffy but those look amazing.

I'd say that most are pretty good. Their Zero Suit Samus is awful, and I think they reworked their original MegaMan after its initial reveal because he was goofy looking (still kind of is).

So did you end up buying the $600 pink Floyd box set?
How was it?

Money, get away
Get a good job with more pay and you're O.K.
Money, it's a gas
Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash
New car, caviar, four star daydream,
Think I'll buy me a football team

Money, get back
I'm all right, Jack, keep your hands off of my stack.
Money, it's a hit
Don't give me that do goody good bullshit
I'm in the hi-fidelity first class traveling set
And I think I need a Lear jet

Money, it's a crime
Share it fairly but don't take a slice of my pie
Money, so they say
Is the root of all evil today
But if you ask for a rise it's no surprise that they're giving none away

"HuHuh! I was in the right!"
"Yes, absolutely in the right!"
"I certainly was in the right!"
"You was definitely in the right. That geezer was cruising for a bruising!"
"Yeah!"
"Why does anyone do anything?"
"I don't know, I was really drunk at the time!"
"I was just telling him, he couldn't get into number 2. He was asking why he wasn't coming up on freely, after I was yelling and screaming and telling him why he wasn't coming up on freely.
It came as a heavy blow, but we sorted the matter out

I have a friend who's barely eking it by and spending all his money on 300 dollar figures, too. He just doesn't care, and I find it increasingly hard to muster up anything to tell him otherwise, although I have in the past.

For some people, anime figures are life. That being said, I've bought my own figures, but never something on that level. I probably only have like four total from the last 10 years.

These kinds of figs make for nice admiration pictures though:

To each their own, but these are gaudy monstrosities.

OP, why would you try to buy something without the funds needed?

Also, to the commenters here, F4F doesn't make plastic figures/toys. They make statues made of resin.

I'm in the same situation. I constantly suffer from overdraft fees because I can't make it month to month. Here is my budget for this month:

Rent: $600
Utilities: $85
Food: $100
12 inch figures of Final Fantasy XV cast: $890

Help me GAF.

Cancel your apartment, find a nice homeless shelter and buy a Katamari figure.

I was able to get a few free months of Phantasy Star Universe in college by using a gift card with only enough money for one month's subscription on it.

Maybe OP was hoping that because the order went through, that he would get his figure even though his card didn't have the funds?

OP,
I hope you pay attention and realize everyone in the thread is giving you the same advice. If you don't change your spending habits now you could doom your future.

We are saying this not to pile on, but because you HAVE to realize that buying things you can't afford is one of the biggest mistakes young people make. And we don't want you to go down the path of financial ruin.

Is there a person on earth who is actually financially stable, but it's using a prepaid debit card to purchase things? Isn't that the kind of thing you get when you have shit credit and need to build it back up? I've never heard of a "green dot," so correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm not sure I even understand the point of a prepaid debit card. How is it different from a regular one that withdraws the money directly from your account? Seems like you just move the funds twice instead of once. Is it something you use if you don't have a bank account? Or is it for budgeting reasons, like the amount you put on the card is what you've budgeted for the month?

I don't think they exist here in Sweden, at least I've never seen one.

Do people really buy figurines with payment plans?

Most people just use the option because the pre-orders can take a year+ anyway (at least with Sideshow stuff, I've never bought from First4Figures) and you might as well be paying for it in the time being. You actually pay it off earlier that way, since a normal pre-order just charges when they ship and the payment plan charges in the months leading up to it.

I use them sometimes for online sites I don't trust not to get hacked. PSN, Xbox, Nintendo, etc. I have a $100 debit card preloaded, it costs $5.95 (plus $100) to load $100 onto it BUT during the x-mas holiday periods my local grocery stores give a $10 coupon when you buy one so I end up actually only paying $96 for $100. I then keep the thing around for 6-8 months as an emergency online credit card for any site I feel might be a bit shady for small - $1-20 - purchases.

Most of the time for PSN/etc I prefer buying $25-50-100 cards from gamestop/best buy/etc but the debit card is around in case I need it. Its also great for signing up for trials that require a credit card.

After 12 months these debit cards start charging like a $5/mo fee until you hit $0 balance (thats how they "get you") so after 9 months I always deplete the card by buying an amazon GC for myself.

Nowadays with so many web sites getting hacked, phishing, etc I really try to be careful of where my credit card is used and NEVER, EVER use my debit card anywhere. With a credit card at least there is a "buffer" between your money (bank account) and potential fraud, with a debit card its a direct link and yes, your bank may reverse the charges but you are hoping a corporation will be nice to you and not fuck you over and I'd rather not be in that situation.

I remember like maybe 7-8 years ago prepaid debit cards were big for gifts or younger people who needed to buy things online and couldn't get credit cards. But since debit cards that could be used online became standard and managing money can be done digitally whenever and wherever thanks to smartphones, I barely ever see prepaid cards.

Praying for preorders is for suckers.

Further proving my point--I posted that I wasn't able to afford something, and someone assumed my financial life.

Now if my history was filled to the brim with those posts, then yeah, go ahead and question my financial responsibility. But for one or two times--not being able to purchase an item that is a little above my limits--at least outright--is a bit presumptuous.

Have I missed something or have you not shared what the figure is? You appear to have enough financial advice, I'm really curious about the figure.

Hmm, that is a valid use for them I suppose. I use credit card these days though, so I've cut the direct line to my account for most purchases.

Pre-orders and deposits for statue and prop company's are basically insurance payments. They usually charge 10% or so, just so that when people cancel their $700 prop replica they at least got $70 out of it while they have this massive box of unsold replicas taking up their warehouse space. Some of them also use the money from the deposit to actually manufacture the product.

CC companies offer virtual temporary CC numbers.

They're auto generated, you set the credit limit and expiration date, and the service is free

Absolutely no reason to get a preloaded debit card

Was wondering why this thread is three pages long. Damn, you guys are vicious.

Went to look at a few. These things are soooo overpriced for this level of detail. Good grief.

It's a big reason why I haven't bought anything from them in years. I have their original Varia Suit Samus from years ago, and I remember it being only $99 (plus shipping). Now it's like their average statue is $350+. Can't afford that shit.
