... his lyrics in No church in the wild are actually thought through.
Human beings in a mob
What's a mob to a king? What's a king to a god?
What's a god to a non-believer who don't believe in anything?
Will he make it out alive? Alright, alright, no church in the wild
I've listened to this so many times and was just like ok...
At the moment I'm studying a course called International protection of human rights, and the chapter I'm on is about the origins of our modern vision on human rights.
In this chapter it's explaining how we went from thinking the King was chosen by god (Thomas van Acquino) to Hobbs and Locke who state that we give the power to the king by social contract. To the US declaration of independence and eventually the French revolution.
And the French revolution is basically that song.
When human rights became more important in France, the fact that the King was chosen by god, got replaced by the king should do whats best for the people or we have the right to overthrow him! So that's exactly what they did, and that's hat his lyrics represent.
Long story short, if Kanye actually did write those. Dude is educated and not just some massive douche.
Granted he's a douche, but he's an educated one. Dude should get more props for this in my book.
EDIT: sharing this because cramming since 6am and no social contact so I wanted to share my personal mind blow with somebody
EDIT2:
But that's a pretty simple rhyme, and a pretty simple concept.
No one who bags on Kanye thinks he's a moron. Guy is a AAA producer, has a fantastic taste in music... but he's just a really shitty MC with weak rhymes and a really shitty attitude.
