I miss futuristic racers.

I miss the futuristic racers too.

Is it just me or does it seem like there are more straight up racing games now? Sure they differ from arcade to simulation handling, but the racing part is pretty much the same. I don't have any numbers to back it up but I get the feeling that Split Second and Blur broke the back of more imaginative racing games by releasing within a week of each other and dividing up the audience. It's a shame because right now I'm burnt out on the more traditional racers, and will probably avoid them for a while.

I'd bet there will be a demo/mini game of Wipeout that launches with Morpheus.

Wipeout was great in 3D and could be absolute madness in VR.

I'm also glad some on page 2 mentioned Trickstyle! Even though it was a bit clunky (even for it's time) it looked great, had some smooth animations and nice ideas.

No idea how/if it runs on Dreamcast emus but well worth checking out.

I miss futuristic racers too. This thread made me realize that the Vita TV would be a good way to play all my Wipeout games, since Wipeout 1 2 3 Pure, Pulse and 2048 would work on it!

Also, if you aren't doing so already, you should check Slipstream GX.

It's essentially a full Wipeout recreation, made by a team of super dedicated fans from WipeoutZone.

They released a beta in August and it's looking awesome!

I would support SlipStream GX if it was coming to consoles.
