I'm mainly looking for rpg's that are on the Ps2 though so please help. I really really badly want to play an awesome jrpg!

Thanks in advance guys!

I want something to do over this weekend at my aunts!

Tales of Symphonia. Only Japan got a PS2 version though.

Sorry, that is pretty much the only JRPG I played this past gen (I barely played any RPG's at all).

Dragon Quest VIII

Do not want. Too hardcore.

@I AM JOHN

The game looks nice, give me some details on it please? Like, is it awesome?

Edit: You edited! HOLY SHIT MANG, THAT RPG LOOKS AWESOME. HOLY SHIT, SOLD. WOW. Someone care to shed some light on that RPG he just suggested? OMG!!! I never heard of it before. WOW.

Breath of Fire 5. You can beat that in a weekend.

... do it, so they make BoF6.
This goes out to another 249,999 of you.

I don't have a Wii and besides, I'm mainly looking for a Ps2 jrpg.
OK, I'll be serious. Golden Sun 1 was the only JRPG I managed to get through last gen (I don't recall finishing any others anyway). So I'll say that.

Played that on my Gc, awesome game.

VALKYRIE PROFILE 2

I've heard of it. Any good? Like I mean, is it like Star Ocean:TtEoT?

It's awesome, but it's not actually an RPG so much as it's a sandbox action/mini-game with RPG elements. It's whacked-out and awesome, but probably won't scratch that itch, unlike my new suggestion, SMT: DDS.

So if I call three coin throws, will you tell me if I win?

I call heads, heads, tails.

Boy, I hope I win.

this wasn't a contest. but your three calls just determined what i'm going to replay. thank you for participating.

for the record, you chose final fantasy x. the other option was god of war.

Seriously just get VP2.

Since no one is telling me about it, oh whatever. Anyways, thanks to this thread. Now I have two games to look forward too. Well two jrpgs that is. One I've heard little about and the other one, nothing at all.

I'm so sorry (FFX put me off FF for the conceivable future).

At least it will keep you occupied for good long while.

Please play God of War.

i've already replayed god of war at least four times since Christmas. so you chose well. thank you, sir.

VP2 has what I think is the best battle system of the last generation. Each battle takes place in a space that the characters can move aabout freely in order to gain tactical advantage against the enemies (ie. hit the unarmored side of a monster), the qualifier being that the characters are constrained by action points. The battles once initiated are fast paced and feature tactical combination attacks like knock up and knock downs (think Shadow Hearts, another excellent choice) as well as armor breaking and limb removal. The world map is comprised of puzzlish platforming sections which are interesting in their right.

The DDS collector's edition is pretty pointless, actually. It comes with a soundtrack CD and a holder for you to put that and DDS2 in. It's okay, but shit compared to what Growlanser Generations gives you

Digital Devil series ties into SMT, but they're both side-stories that stand on their own, so you don't need to have ever played Nocturne, Persona(s), Devil Summoner, or any of the other MegaTen games (which I haven't). The game battle/leveling is also essentially Nocturne, but simplified and more forgiving, which I hear makes it better (never played Nocturne).

So yeah, pick this and Digital Devil Saga 2 up.

Also, just to throw this in there since I'm the one man BoPoP Defense Force, if you like turn-based strategy games akin to Advance Wars, and card games, get

Since it's pretty much the Secret Best DS Game Ever.

Why won't you people listen to me?! :'(

Thank you. At least I got an overview of the game I'm getting. Many thanks.

One last questiong about the Shadow Heart series, there's 3 games in the series. I remember playing the 2nd one and the cover was this girl with big boobs. It was so damn fun man! I never finished it because it was rented. I'm going to buy that but is the 3rd one any good? I know I'm going to get the 1st for sure. The 3rd one is the question?

Thanks again and now I have something to do for my weekend.

Wait, I thought this boxset includes both DDS 1 and 2? So it doesn't? I have to buy them separately? The f**k that CE!

Honestly, when you showed me the boxart for DDS, I was like that looks awesome and I totally fell in love with it. Nice recommendation for me there!

Anyways, I'm picking up VP2, DDS1/2 and shall I pick Nocturne? It seems that they are related so why not right? You made it sound like it's a freaking great game too so that does help as well.

-VP2

-Shadow Hearts 1/2 but 3 is ?

-DDS 1/2 and Nocturne is ?

The third Shadow Hearts game is okay, but it doesn't touch the first two. It's worth owning, though, if you're a fan of the series.
