It's been a while, but Spumoni Gardens on 86th St. in Brooklyn.

Hah, I live two minutes from there. That place is always mobbed. Great Sicilian slices, though (those are the squares for all you non-Eyetalians :D). The quality has fallen off in recent years, however. The Spumoni still rocks, though, and their sit-down restaurant is surprisingly good given the prices.

Really? That's depressing to hear. That place was an institution when I was growing up there.

Mine may not be an opinion shared by many, judging by the fact that the place is always packed. :lol It just seems like their squares aren't as good as they used to be.

What neighborhood were you from? I'm in Gravesend (edge of Bensonhurst).

What I came in to post.

It's an inside joke that native New Yorkers usually find amusing.
TRAVEL CHANNEL TEACHED ME TEH JOKE TOO :D

But seriously, I loved that whole hour of pizza goodness :D

Wait wtf?

You knocked up a chick, and now you're driving to the city to get married then taking a train out of Penn? What's this about pizza?

I'm fucking confused.

I'm from Bensonhurst, actually. Bay 25th off 86th St.

Hah, my sister used to have an apartment there. The Blockbuster video that was there for, like, eternity is gone now. :D

EDIT: Wrong Bay street. I'm thinking 25th avenue.

You sir, have solved the riddle of the OP. He knew he could say ANYTHING as long as it contained a potential "list" war and nobody would bat an eyelid.

gaf, the petri dish of culture wars.

Can't believe nobody's mentioned DiFara yet...it's way the hell out in the Midwood section of Brooklyn, but it's worth the schlep--the quality of the ingredients is incredible, and it yields an unbelievably flavorful pizza.

In Manhattan, my favorite underrated gem is Pizza Gruppo, on Ave B between 11th and 12th--their thin crusts are incredible, and they've got a terrific selection of toppings.

I just can't get onboard with thin crust pizza. It's like the soul of the pie is missing.

If you like thin crust and/or brick oven, Angelo's on 57th between 6th and 7th.

I haven't tried the other locations.
