I Never Want To Change A Disc Again.

I am really with you here. I never want to change a disc on any game ever. I'd accept the drawbacks of this for the convenience of having all of my games available to me with a controller, rather than a disc.

Hopefully for people who like box art and crappy plastic cases they keep those for those who like them, but I'm done with them.

I love my digital library on Vita.

Would never go fully digital on a Nintendo console though. I'd be shit scared of losing it all.

Wow this week is the week of digital downloads gamers.

Yeah, Digital Download is so awesome.
I go all for them videos, pics, music and games.
43,5TB of Digital content XD right now.

Or you get a PS4. Bu bye old digital games.

I actually bought 4 games during the wii u launch, then sold them to gamespot for point cards, then rebought digitally. I still have a NSMB Wii disc that's scratched to hell that pisses me off.

And this damn new service called steam has got's me going cray cray. I love digital. Download, set it, then forget it...then bitch about it on GAF. That's how I imagine some of you guys.

why does buying a PS4 make you lose your digital games? Does your PS3 magically die on that day? are you one of those that is foolish enough to trade in old systems because you cant afford the new one without store credit? what gives?

I prefer to have discs for traditional consoles, as you're near the TV and couch anyways.

I do think platforms you pick up and play anywhere like the wiiu and 3ds are perfect for going all digital. I just want a unified account from Nintendo before I invest much in their ecosystem.

Of course DD is great. Except on WiiU and 3DS where they have a half cobbled account system which doesn't let you do things properly. If they fix that, I will start buying some stuff off the VC.

So I was lying in my bed at 3:00 or so last night, engaged in a hopeless battle against sleep. (Which I lost. Because it was hopeless.)

Why the hell would you engage in a hopeless battle against sleep at 3:00 AM? Also, it seems it was far from hopeless considering the rest of your post.

But yeah, this is one of the reasons I'm so into PC gaming lately.

No I don't agree. You are lazy as hell.

Nothing wrong with laziness, I suppose. That's something western culture has a lot of, and it's worse in other ways. I am personally indifferent to the consuming process, so I can handle both physical and digital. But I don't lean to digital because I'm a lazy person who doesn't want to get off of the bed for a few minutes, there are other, genuine reasons to want digital over physical than that.

Also many Digital sales for console titles suck. I rarely see a discount of 10 dollars or more on Xbox Live Games and the like. PS+ is good but you still have to pay to pay less.

Id rather go retail which will give me a $20-40 price cut. these companies need to give more incentive to convert me to digital.

I must have about 100+ digital titles across various consoles and storing these games physically simply wouldn't be practical for me.

I think Sony in particular has done a great job in this area, while there's plenty of room for improvement I do think their on the right track.

The real issue comes down to pricing, especially on third party releases, it's not at all uncommon to see a title priced at £59.99.. = /

I don't mind swapping disks, I just love being able to buy my games without leaving home or waiting for them to be delivered. Just a download and I'm ready to roll with all my games right there in a digital library, waiting for me at the touch of a button. It's to the point to where disks are starting to feel a bit archaic to me, but I will still be buying them for games that have huge download files.

So I was lying in my bed at 3:00 or so last night, engaged in a hopeless battle against sleep. (Which I lost. Because it was hopeless.)

Letting fate have its way, I reached for my Wii U gamepad so I could check Miiverse for a few minutes. But when I started reading through the Super Metroid community, I wanted to play it. (So I did.) Then rolling around in Samus's morph ball mode made me think about Sonic who does the same thing, so then I went back to the Wii U Menu and started playing Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed. Then I thought about how that game made me wanna play Sonic Lost World, which I will totally buy as a digital download so I can keep living in these exciting chains of jumping from one game to another without having to get up, turn the lights on, find a box, remove a disc, find another box, put another disc in, turn the lights back off, and get back in bed just to change games during one of these otherwise blissful gaming-at-night sessions.

Digital downloads have made me realize just how much more I get out of my games when they're so much more easily accessed.
Sounds like you didn't get much out of each game since you kept skipping between them.

You'll get even less out of each game when your Wii U breaks and you loose access to them forever.

Yes, I know this isn't what this topic is about.

I do agree, it's lazy but it's so awesome. I like buying digitally.

Funny thing is... I never took breaks.

You guys are crazy. Having a physical copy of something is way better than having a digital file. That goes for movies and games. I love the way my 300 blurays and 50 PS3 games look on my shelf. PS2 and GameCube games too. Only when i don't have a choice do i buy a digital version of a game. Like Mass Effect. I really wanted a disc copy for the PS3.

I certainly won't be doing it on Nintendo platforms until they move in to the 00s and implement an account system.

For competant systems, yeah, DD is much preferred.

Do you even own anything made by Nintendo? Or do you just come in to Nintendo threads to lay a few big fat turds?

(edit) Also... about laziness... Necessity isn't the mother of invention... Laziness is. Look at every major advancement in the history of forever, all "lasting" inventions have been ones that have aided laziness, and were only replaced when an even LAZIER alternative came to be.

Laziness is the future.

I own every Nintendo system ever pretty much, except for 3DS (I sold it), 3DS XL (I sold it) and Wii U (I'm not stupid).

My issue with Nintendo can be summed up by the fact I sold my 3DS XL and now have forever lost the handful of digital titles I owned on it.

Welcome to the life that modders have been living since the early 2000s, not to mention PC gaming. It's glorious. I'm hope the next gen systems allow you to install retail games and play them without the disc in the drive. Best of both worlds for collectors.

I wish consoles would just use cd keys and be done with it.

If the 720 and PS4 allow day-1 digital downloads of all games, then I will be going the DD route this coming gen.

Nintendo needs to tie the purchases to the account, and not the hardware, for me to consider this for their platforms.

What a generation it's been/becoming

Nongamers - Love using their game console's motion controls to be a little more active while having more fun

Gamers - Too much trouble to get up and put a disc in the system

As long as this happens, physical for me:

Getting a new PS3 game in PSN store day 1 - 69.95 euros
Getting a new PS3 game in PSN store day 120 - 69.95 euros

Getting a new PS3 game from Amazon day 1 - 45 euros
Getting a new PS3 game from Amazon day 120 - 20 euros

1st world problems?
1st world problems.

I kind of agree, but waiting things to boot up is more annoying than switching discs to me.

I own a bunch of digital stuff on PSN and Steam, but I always prefer the physical copy. I just don't trust the digital is going to remain around, unless of course it's DRM-free off GOG.com, then I can back it up.. If everything was drm-free I'd probably buy digital a lot more..

Can someone explain to me why I have to change discs in Mass Effect 3 on 360, but the PC version of the game comes on one disc

I believe the Mass Effect Trilogy on PS3 comes w/ physical copies of all 3 games.

On my media player click and enjoy.

I prefer have this:

full of movies, anime, pics, music and games.
Just connect and profit.

I'm leaning towards digital downloads of games a lot more myself these days. So much less space taken up by game cases and if the urge ever strikes you to play a certain game all you have to do is select it from the menu.
