I root for certain games to fail because I don't want more games like them

I miss the days of choosing a game based on cool box artwork. Everyone is too involved now, that diminishes the joy of gaming GREATLY.
Well, that is something you'll never get back. We are way too connected to each other and our problems. I actually hate this. Bless those days when the only issues I was confronted with were local. Now someone farts at the other side of the planet and for some reason I have to know and care about it. As much as I like talking to you guys all over the planet... it was better when we were not.

Also I think that there are so many people buying and playing games that ultimately we usually get results that are pretty reasonable, even if we don't necessarily agree with them. If these social media haters were really all-powerful then Marathon, Ghost of Yotei, and Concord would've all flopped identically. That didn't happen. All you can really control is what you do and say yourself.

In other words, I don't think saying you want a game to fail is actually going to kill it lol. You're not somehow taking away someone else's choice, you're just expressing yourself. Which is how it should be.

Pushing for something to not exist because it's not specifically pertaining to your tastes is some ego-maniacal, sociopathic behavior.

I miss cool box artwork too, but it doesn't diminish gaming for me.

I still have many game boxes in my one closet, I look through them once or twice per year, but I should probably just trash them and take back some closet space! 😂

I don't give a fuck what you do, but it is what it is.
Then why the hell are you crying about it and being hyperbolic? We're talking about wanting damn games we don't like to fail and you decided to play armchair psychologist.

I just root for games because I like the online drama

I don't mind if you hate something, just please recommend a game to play in exchange.
The problem is, if we keep sitting back and tolerating the ruination of the industry, pretty soon we won't have other games to play in exchange.

Unless of course we just go back and play old games. Good thing the nineties and early aughts were prolific and full of releases, unlike today, so there's plenty to recommend.

I dont root for anything but when a game fails that deserves it I do get a bit of joy out of it.

But these are 2 different things

How am i crying? I'm just stating the truth about that kind of behavior. If anything your reaction is weirdly over emotional.

Why are moron journalists or industry people always making a surprised Pikachu face when gamers root for games they dislike to fail? Of course, you should want something you dislike to fail so you see less of it. What's so hard to understand?

We hate Sony doing GAAS because it comes at the expense of the better single-player games they used to deliver, so we want them to bomb for Sony to realize they're betting on the wrong horse and to give us back what we want. Same reason that many want COD to fail because they're fed up with bro shooters saturating the market and want talented devs to do something else. I haven't seen the next rumored God of War with Faye, but my opinion on it is already negative because I don't want God of War to be feminized. If it bombs, Sony and SSM will hopefully get the message and stop heading in that direction.

You want what you like to succeed to get more of it.

You want what you dislike to fail to get less of it.

Simple, right?
1000%
lets not forget that gaas is the reason we don't have a great company like blue point anymore

Gaming development studios crumbling and then bursting into flames, all the developers heads blown off Doom style, from the power of Neogaffers making a thread criticising them.

I hate on games that started its existence by killing possibility of good, based game.
If its some rando game from unknown studio i know didnt eat the breakfeast of other proper game i was hoping personaly for then i dont give a damn.

Good example is sony gaas initiative/bungie aquisition and all of its consequences- i hate on it hard coz we know that money could have been put to better use, aka high quality singleplayer blockbusters from back before tlou2, this gen we barely got anything of high quality from sony that doesnt push agenda.

If its for example pubg/fortnite so games from studios that i never hoped to make good game that appeals to me- i dont have any beef with those- not my genre but fk it, guys make truckloads on money, had talent and grit to succeed so more power to them.

Its same logic thats usually aplied to exclusives- if game was funded and would never happened w/o particular platform holder forking up cash in front for it- ofc its better it should exist, if its game beign paid to be timed or proper exclusive only for it to not be on some other platform but devstudio/publisher would greenlit it anyways- then obviously it sux and im not a fan of those(althoo i cant deny particular console creates more value for its owners that way aka incentives more buyers, so i understand why exclusives exist - and i usually fold in the end- what can u do, im weak man who likes to play high quality games, and if they are exclusives so be it :P ).
So basically the problem is that Sony wants half of their catalog to be multiplayer games instead of everything being Uncharted clones.
