Well, I work in Loss Prevention in a high-end department store. Basically, I catch shoplifters.
A few months ago I was sitting in our camera room with a co-worker and my manager. My co-worker gets up and says "I have to go to the bathroom, I'll be back." A few minutes later my life would change forever.
Over the radio we heard a scream from said co-worker: "Turn camera 14 around! I just caught two guys F*cking in the bathroom!"
I immediately swing camera 14 around to find a short Asian man FLYING out of the bathroom and across the sales floor, FULL SPEED. My manager insists "He's running towards our office!"
We both jump out of our seats and run out of the office and through the receiving department. I am in the lead, my manager close on my tail. I make it out onto the sales floor just as the Asian is running past, our eyes meet and I reach out to grab his hooded sweatshirt. He swings his left arm and breaks my grip as he continues to run towards the exit. He makes it to the first set of double doors but the doors slow him down. I quickly catch up as he makes it outside and I grab him by the shoulders and throw him to the ground with everything that I have. He screams and pleads "OKAY OKAY I'M DONE."
He was brought back to the office, where my co-worker was waiting for us with the other suspect who did not run or put up a fight. I could not imagine the horror my co-worker's eyes witnessed that day as he walked inside of that bathroom. Right out in the open, not in a stall, right next to the urinals: A middle-aged Caucasian Male "pitching" and a 25yr old Asian Male "receiving" right out in the open.
Both men were prosecuted and arrested. The Asian spilled his guts and admitted that they had met in the Macy's in my mall and agreed to meet in our store. The white male DENIED EVERYTHING. "I am a straight, married man with two kids. I would never."
We just found out today that the case had finally ended in court and both parties were found guilty. The Asian told EVERYTHING.
The man was indeed married, to a woman, with two children.
Justice was served. But sadly I still think about that incident to this day.
