I thought people with backlogs were idiots

Only 6 games? You must be new here.

At a certain point is better to do away with the idea of "backlog" and think of it as a "library" instead :P

I buy humble bundles as a way of giving to charity I just happen to get some games I might play at some point in the future, some I might not.

Actually while I'm here I recently bought the firaxis humble bundle, any thoughts on the order I should play the Civ games in (never played them before)?

I mean, what a stupid problem to have. Just stop buying games, you fool. You're never going to play all those games, what a waste of money.

I have a backlog.

I agree and that's a good, small backlog. A backlog shouldn't be 100 games :P

I've stopped buying games because I just don't seem to play them. Will only buy once I finish my backlog.

Good thing Steam allows you to remove unwanted games. Will delete those crappy Humble Bundle games that I received as part of a package. Will never even install them, never mind complete them.

Filthy backlog casual!
Get back when you've bought bundles but forgot to add the games to your library, bruh.

Only happened once

I don't even care about mine.

I get stuff when I find a good deal, and because the niche Japanese games I'm into can just become more expensive in the future rather than cheaper.

So it's just like having a big library where I can pick and choose which game I'll start up next.

It's just a common part of general human behaviour. It manifests in many ways in terms of "collecting" stuff that you may never have the time to use.

Money permitting most people will have backlogs.

It is arguably idiotic from an intellectual point of view but hey "eyes bigger than belly" is a common thing as noted so who cares?

Backloggasaurus is 120+ titles you need to get around to

I would love to have only 30-40 titles in mine.

This is the problem with buying 85% of what's released on every major platform.

edit:still MUCH cheaper than my other Hobby- Expensive Scotch collecting

It's just a good thing to have 10-15 games as backup and fot variation.

It's when the nummer of unplayed games have passet triple digits with a margin, that you might want to start asking yourself some questions.

But everyone of course have their own reasons as to why they want to keep buying.

For all the nay sayers. I find categorising my games as played and unplayed is very helpful. Both in terms of finding a game I'm in the mood to play and also in terms of budgeting. I try to cut back on spending and looking at the sheer volume of unplayed games is an effective tool in making a purchase. You can say "well I didn't play Mass Effect yet, so why would I want to buy another massive RPG?"

Boasting about it, like it's a cool problem to have is pretty lame. But don't confuse that with just having a lot of games.

I consider myself a collector, so even if I don't play it, it still adds value.

I have different types of backlogs really. I have the immediate play backlog which is what I work my way through, and then the rest. Which will be played if I'm looking for something a bit different.

Frankly, I think it's impossible not to have a backlog these days with Humble bundles, PS+, Games for Gold, EA Access and all that jazz.

That's not a backlog and we're still idiots.

If the OP's backlog is that mugger's small knife then my backlog isn't Dundee's knife. It's Cloud's sword.

I am like a squirrel. I hide my games for a rainy day but I eventually forget about them and move on to the next one.

how do I get that view in steam? I don't see anything called backlog.

It's a custom category. Right-click on a game -> Set Categories -> Select/Add a category.

Edit: The view type you want is Detail View. Towards the upper-right corner you'll see a "View" section with three icons; Detail View is the left-most option.

If I drop a game for another one barring any revelation that makes me go back it stays dropped it doesn't go into a backlog.

I also don't buy more than 1 more game if I have an unfinished one I'm currently playing

I can see where OP is coming from though, I think there comes a time where you have to actually stop and realise you are being completely ridiculous buying a game when you literally have over 100 games still to finish.

It's borderline hoarding behaviour.

Having a backlog is a blessing. Year after year without any good JRPG?

No problem I still have lots for the PS2 , hell even the PS1.

Honestly I don't have a clue why people whine about it.

I have a Pseudo "Backlog." Basically, I have a bunch of games I've never really played - or played much of - because they were a part of a Steam or Humble bundle. It's a bit annoying- I always play the games I intend to buy.

At first I thought that Steam sales were the problem. Then, I realized that even when buying physical usually I didn't finish all the games I bought.

That's a backtoothpick, mate.

*brofist*

It's pathetic that I've grown a distaste for bundles now because I'm getting the same game twice. I got Dark Souls twice. One day I'll do a giveaway once I care to figure out which copy I can giveaway without screwing anything up.

Come to see the Steam OT if you want to see some true backlogs, there are some of us that have bigger backlogs than the PS4/XB1 have games in their entire library.

Look, if the apocalypse happened and I somehow managed to survive with my computer and for some reason we'll still have running electricity and connection to the stream database I'll be entertained till the day I die.

Are you guys hoarding games in case of a zombie apocalypse or something?

Most games won't be even functioning cause they will require some kind of internet check you know.

Edit: Beaten?

I posted in another backlog topic, and my 20ish game backlog was nothing compared to what I saw listed. Some of those games are very small digital titles.

I won't be adding much to my gaming library this year.
