I want a 50+ hour PSP title...

I need to get that. It's on PSN, right?
It's on PSN... but it's still $40 even though the UMD has been available for less than $20.

That and Trails in the Sky are great choices... if you like RPGs. As much as I love Trails, I don't think I could recommend it you're not a fan of RPGs. It also doesn't have a lot of replay value, but it's pretty long for one playthrough. Easily over 50 hours if you try to do everything.

Monster Hunter is a terrible suggestion, there are walls of immense difficulty that is nearly impossible to surmount without multiplayer.

Phantasy Star Portable 2 is similar, but better for SP.

How about one of the Patapon titles? I played the first and second for around 50 hours each. I advice starting with the original, it's mechanics are simpler and there are no difficulty levels(meaning you will get a challenge).

No it's not. You just suck.

Hot Shots Tennis: Get A Grip has sucked up over 90 hours of my life in a year ... There's a demo on PSN which I'd recommend checking out.

1000* this.

Oh and you'll want to check out Birth By Sleep too ;p

Valkyria Chronicles 2 is pretty long and has great pacing - each in game day has new events based on your interactions with the other characters (around 24 I think) as well as the story line missions. It's a really good game.

I hear good things about Tactics Ogre as well, I'll have to pick that one up after seeing the love it's getting in this thread :)

PSP picks ony:

If you can read Japanese: Valkyria Chronicles 3. I'm at 68 hours and am only 75% done.

If you like VC, an't read Japanese, but can get past a mediocre first hour or so, with fun gameplay taking over after that, go for VC2.

If you don't like VC, you can get FF: Crisis Core for under $10 used and it's quite fun. I think I put over 50 hours into that game.

I haven't played TO:LUCT yet, but I'll let the other posters convince you of how good it is.

And then there's a huge library of PS1 classics that will entertain you for many, many, many hours.

This man speaks the truth...
I've never played a tennis game that good.
Everything is slick, the gameplay is incredible, very "realistic" in a arcade setting.
Some really excellent sensations on the court, and lot of freshness in this game.
Try it !

Can you elaborate on the PS1 games? I don't know a lot about them, there must be a lot of great PS1 games on PSN as well.

I already have Everybody's Tennis (it's how its called in the EU) for the PSP, I actually reviewed it. Fantastic game, I did EVERYTHING possible in that game. Love it! Also have the hot shots golf game.

Persona 3 Portable, Tactics Ogre, and Valkyria Chronicles 2. They've been pulling me away from my PC games as of late even. So good!

Tactics Ogre is taking some... getting used to for me. I'm trying out Wild Arms XF and Trails in the Sky first, I'm a total newbie to PSP though.

Beyond the good recommendations so far: Maybe Dissidia 012? I picked it up on sale at Best Buy a while ago and I'm liking it a lot, and it straddles the divide between "action game "and "RPG" with its two modes, literally called "action mode" and "RPG mode." I've put about 10 hours in and I feel like I'm just scratching the surface of it.

It's pure FF fanservice, but beyond that it's a pretty solid fighting game with an asston of unlockables, upgradables, and customizable options.

Another vote for MGS Peace walker! so many things to do in this game. I've put 75+ hours and I'm still planning to continue playing on the HD version...

Peace Walker is a lot, a lot of game.
Disgaea 1: Afternoon Of Darkness, if you have not played that, now is a great time.
Still cautiously optimistic on Tactics Ogre. Need to play more. Hasn't really grabbed me yet though.

The answer begins with Disgaea. It might or might not end with 2.
Against. The Disgaea 1 campaign is way more fun to go through.

Monster Hunter
God Eater
MGS Peace Walker
Birth By Sleep

And RPGs generally take quite a while to finish so you have a lot of choices there like Trails in the Sky, and a lot on the PS1 side (Xenogears, Final Fantasy etc).

There are tons of RPG and T-RPG to choose from, but if you're not into RPG, I'd recommand Peace Walker, the game will easily last 50 hours unless you just rush it to see the end credit, but if you like the game, you'll want to make tons of side missions and will end up playing it a lot. I've spent about 70 hours in it, and I haven't done everything.

Most people here have already hit the nail on the head:

Tactics Ogre
MGS: Peace Walker
Valkyria Chronicles 2
Disgaea

And if those aren't to your liking, play PS One rpgs on it!

200 plus hours good enough for you?

Breath of Fire 3 is one of the longest. Brilliant game too.

Although you may want to pack a guide, since there's one small specific bit in the game that has been the subject of frustration.

Imo, Monster Hunter is zero fun by yourself. The game is meant to be played with others.

Persona 3 Portable
Monster Hunter
Disgaea 1/2
Peace Walker (can't remember if this was 50+ hours but I know it was long)
Valkyria chronicles 2
Peace Walker is a good 40+ hours to do all of the story related stuff in the game. If you want to do everything in the game it probably is easily over 50+

Jeanne d'Arc
Tales of Eternia

I got over 50 hours out of those quite easily.

the Monster Hunter games obviously

Jeanne d'arc and FF:tactics are all the games you need for the psp.
Tactics Ogre for some reason isn't clicking with me.
