I want Metal Gear Solid HD Collection on PC.

It's to do with either their censorship rules, or sometimes the government taking the stance that the content in the game is out suitable due to some kind of 'offense' in the game towards the country.

Damn that's harsh though. Even just censoring the game would be better solution, even if I hate it.

I want a day off and loads of pork meat for breakfest while a cute 21yr old give me a *hug* and I tripple kill in bf4 on my brand new ps4.

not going to happen. some thing are just not going to happen.

You work for Konami in high managerial position I presume ?

Winners make it happen.

Kojima is a winner.

Japanese devs and PC are weird, does PC gaming just not exist over there? and MGS4 on PC? I highly doubt that will ever happen, that would have to be a nightmare as it never could even make it to 360.

I think a more interesting question is whether MGS2 could be modded to use the MGS3 Subsistence camera. Obviously, it wouldn't happen since the PS360 release didn't have it, but it's cool to imagine.

Signed.

I am currently supporting the petition to release MGSV for the PC, just as a backup. But obviously, KojiPro should only do this once the game is completed for home consoles. Then, they can concentrate on developing an excellent port for PC, rather than rushing it.

Holy crap, I keep lagging behind.

Was wondering where you were, one of the originators of DS PC.
I was actually browsing the thread at work barely 20 minutes after you started it, waiting to reply in few sparse seconds of free time between semi-busy periods.

Aaaanyway, while I won't deny the display of gratitude pleases me at least a bit, calling me "originator" of the PC port seems vastly overselling my contribution.
I mostly had the strike of luck to advocate for a PC version of DS with the right person in the right moment, which turned in a semi-official endorsement to start a petition, the consequent actual petition (which i didn't even open myself) and a massive amount of unexpected press coverage,

Let's hope we all will have a similar luck with this one.

I played the remake of MGS 1 that Silicon Knights did for the GameCube using Dolphin and that looked much better than the PC port of MGS 1.

Sure. but that's also a different game. Regular MGS1 looked a lot clearer on PC, the console version literally gave me headaches.

would buy.

mgs4 is never coming though. codebase is allegedly a fucking mess held together with chewing gum and tape just like red dead redemption is.

mgsv is a cert though, come on. multi-platform engine, kojima wants to do it, already saw success with rising, konami generally favourable to pc.

and don't give me any of that "but ground zeroes isn't on pc" shit, you know when they're bringing it over it's coming as a complete package.

Dark Souls have proven that internet petitions do, sometimes, in fact, work.

And I want MGS collection on PC. I am selfish like that. I do own first four games (MGS1+2 on PC, MGS3 on PS2 and MGS4 on PS3), but I want them on the platform I prefer so they can be accessible for me indefinitely. I do not want to rebuy them on console that is on its way out (PS3). PC is forever, so it would be nice to have it on it.

So, with that said, I got linked this petition by biggest czech gaming website (games.cz):

https://www.change.org/petitions/petition-to-port-metal-gear-solid-legacy-and-or-hd-collection-to-pc

I put down my signature, since Dark Souls tought me to stop arrogantly looking down at internet petitions (thanks TucoBenedicto, by the way!).

Kojima said himself he wants to see MGS5 on PC, but legacy collection should come too.
Anyone else ?
I want it on PS4 :D

I thought port begging was against TOS?

I could see it, other than MGS4. If that was gonna leave the Playstation ecosystem, it would've already.

I find it hard to believe Konami isn't planning on porting the legacy collection to x86 anyways the the current gen consoles.

They have been bringing their ports to PC as of late, keep those fingers crossed.

I also find it hard to believe we won't be seeing MGS V at one point. Their shift to PC just came too late in Ground Zeroes development.

You can always use PS2 emulators, they're really quite good now adays. It would be understandable if there is no way for you to play them on PC. MGS5 on the other hand is a slim chance, Konami just doesn't consider the platform "profitable" enough going by their history, but I might be wrong.

Going by thier history they seem pretty open to the PC.

Rising and Lords of Shadow recieved late PC ports. LoS2 got a PC version Day one.

I don't see how it's a slim chance that MGS5 will get a PC version.

Would be nice but I hope you have Sony PS3 or Microsoft Xbox 360 as that's the absolute best place to play them at this moment.

Having them on the PC would solve the issue of backwards compatibility completely. Which is one of the reasons I always want a PC version from third party developers.

5 years from now if I want to play MGS3 again, its so much more simpler to just open steam and hit download rather than try to find a console which hasnt been used in years.

I will sign it. I doubt it will do much though. MGSV is more likely to happen.

To be honest it's been so long since I played the original MGS for PC that all I remember about it was it being a lot sharper because of the higher resolution. According to reviews though it used the original low res PS2 textures. The nice thing about the GameCube version is that it was a Nintendo exclusive "remastered" for the GameCube. They redid the cutscenes and improved a bunch of other stuff.

It runs at a solid 60fps in Dolphin but I still haven't figured out a decent controller mapping layout for my Xbox 360 controller. May have to pick up a GameCube Controller Adapter for my PC.

Hmmm I remember the original thread on now defunct namco forums where you, Namco community guy and one other person were talking about it, then someone made the petition (I thought it was you) and it blew up. Anyway, still cool.

Well yeah it looked better because it was full blown remake. I would like to see Twin Snakes on PC officially too, but since that was I think Nintendo funded, we will only see it in emulators.

I have PS3 but I am not going to buy this on a platform I plan to sell next year when replacing it with PS4.

While we're at it, bring those missing Sega games to Steam as well. I'd easily double dip on a MGS trilogy release on Steam.

I'm also still lost on why old Resident Evil games aren't on Steam.

Here we are, hoping ToraShiro would toss a bone in our general direction...
On paper, porting the legacy collection would make a lot of sense on so many levels, but as Capcom has shown us with DD, japanese companies hate money with great vengeance...

Take me for example, I've never played anything in the MGS series, so in order to be a potential buyer for mgsV, I'd have to buy an entirely separate, dying platform (ps3) and track down the now extremely rare legacy collection.

Does that make any sense to anyone? Not to me, I don't even know if I will like mgs, I cannot put down so much money upfront just on pretty promises and recommendations!

If the collection were to appear tomorrow on steam for like, even 30-40$? Hell yeah I'd put those down.

Just for the record, so you can have an accurate picture, it went more or less this way:

- I started a discussion on the European Namco Bandai forum, about why I thought a PC version of that game could be reasonably successful (Guess what? I was right, too!). I didn't really hope to achieve much, it was more me venting "Damn, I'd like if. It would make so much sense".
- The Namco Bandai Community Manager (Tony Shoupinou) unexpectedly answered, conceded i made a few good points about the potential popularity of the game on PC, suggested me to try a petition.
- I argued back that petitions were usually dismissed quickly and laughed at, that no one seemed to take them seriously, etc. He answered back saying that this is the case when the numbers are laughable, but that if we got somehow signatures in the order of the thousands they were more than open to listen to the feedback.
- I opened a few threads about this thing on a bunch of visible forums (some that I usually followed, others where I was more of a lurker) with a link to that discussion. I also sent mails to different gaming sites which I hoped could have any interest in promoting a petition for this port (i.e. PC Gamer, RPS, Total Biscuit).
- Predictably, those forum threads were quite successful and a lot of people replying seemed to be easily excited by the idea; on the other hand it was quite surprising how even those gaming sites were very quick to publish something about it. Barely few hours after I sent my emails (and -I'm guessing- several other people too) there were news on RPS, few other gaming blogs. There still was no actual petition at this point. Everyone was just talking about how we needed one.
- Few hours after RPS published the first news a petition was started by a reddit user named dinpoke. RPS and the other sites which published something about it started updating their articles with the petition link, which gathered few thousands signatures in the first hours.
- Total Biscuit released his famous video about the petition and why a PC port was a good idea; signatures started skyrocketing shortly after. We had more than 20,000 of them 24 hours after the petition was opened.
- Tony Shoupinou posted something like "Holy crap, we are impressed, we didn't expecting anything like that. My bosses asked me what's going on; we are listening".
- Snowball effect. Pretty much EVERY gaming site talked about the petition at some point, signatures kept coming steadily until well past the 85,000.
- A PC port was finally announced few months later, after few vague hints that something was moving.
- Just after the official confirmation I received via mail by Tony Shoupinou a bunch of goodies. A Dark Souls hoodie, a DS zippo and the very cool strategy guide made by Future Press.

Yeah, been playing through MGS for the first time recently on PS3 via the Legacy Collection. I'd definitely love to see that come to PC so I can have the series forever, in case my PS3 ever bites the dust.

Yes. Every game should be on PC. Right now, the only MGS game I can't play is MGS4, since the rest of them are on Vita, so I'd love to be able to play it on PC. And if MGS5 ever comes out on PC, as Kojima has expressed interest in doing, there'll be no excuse not to (at least) port the previos games to PC.

Or you could save yourself a whole lot of grief by picking up the HD collection, MGS4 and a digital copy of MGS1 + VR missions. Problem solved.

legacy isn't even avalaible on PSN ?
WHY

All games featured in the legacy collection bar MGS4 are available on PSN. MGS4 has never been on PSN. I've no idea why, but I think it has something to do with the file size. Bear in mind, the game was released in 2008. A lot has changed since then with regards to PSN.

That's an awesome story, but it pertains to a hot new game, rather than 4 old games. Not only would MGS collection seem to entail more work (perhaps 4 times as much work?) in terms of development and testing, but it's unlikely it would attract the same interest.

I would certainly embrace such a collection, though.

Indeed, it seems harder to make it work.

I signed, FWIW.

Metal Gear Solid has a PC version already. So does 2.

Wasn't an issue back then.

You are working for Konami ...arent you...

Anyways. PC versions of games, with Steam and GOG and whatnot being such viable platforms...needs to be a thing.

Capcom, Konami and these are Japanese companies need to get their stuff together.
