Anyways. I've said this before. But put me down for Australia winning the whole thing. And rooting for England. Begrudgingly. Don't think they have a chance. But would be delighted you know if they squeak out victories.
I have a soft spot for South Africa. And Bangladesh I guess.

South Africa and India are excellent shouts as well.

If Australia win this I will get so fucking blind and punch so many parking meters i'll have broke ass hands. Who knows, its a strange game and anything could happen on any given day.

Well, I'm not exactly going to stop you in that venture, for obvious reasons.

I don't know how we missed the boat on ten Doeschate. He plays over here. :/

He has the highest batting average in the world, by some margin. 70 odd.

edit: 71.21 apparently. according to wiki that is.

Keep in mind ten Doeschate has played a lot of ODIs against Associate and Affiliate teams when, as we saw a few days ago, he really should be playing against the best.

Hashim Amla's average is the most impressive to me; 58.64 across 42 innings against (mostly) the best teams in the world.

Last year Amla averaged 75.57 across 15 innings and AB de Villiers averaged 80.33 across 16. Both had strike-rates above 100. We should be very afraid of the SA batting line-up.

Still don't think it will be enough. The pitch was throwing up a few odd bounces, but they seemed to be fewer towards the end of the innings.

As long as one of Watson, Ponting or Clarke has a decent-ish knock, I think we'll be fine.

Can't wait for Pak/Lanka match. Saw them battle it out live in Toronto (Pakistan lost, in case anyone missed that one, due to the horrendous balling by Shoaib Akhtar), can't wait to see them battle it again! :D

I believe MHuss is off limits because he was originally in the squad and has been withdrawn. Sidds is the likely replacement but we may see a Dan Christian or a Butterworth type come in. They might even think about brining Doherty in.

Oh, and Bangers are getting smashed. (Sorry, such a poor joke).

But mussey was only in a prelim squad, not the final squad and then taken out.
But christian or siddle are the likely choices
 
I don't see why they'd replace Bollinger with an all rounder. Especially someone like Christian, who is very much a batting allrounder (he gets wickets, but he gets tonked. I think his economy rate in the ODD Comp this year is something like 6.8). They'll probably bring over Siddle.


On another note, I don't think there's another man in cricket I respect more than Dan Vettori. For about 10 years he's been the only consistently reliable player New Zealand has. Whilst everyone else seems to have no problem throwing away their wickets, he continues to fight. Heck, he even saw the team's batting sucked and decided to become an all rounder, and he did. And through all this time he's never had a dig at his team mates, even though they deserve it.

Are you sure? I think both Hauritz and Hussey were in the final squad (Hauritz injured after his inclusion, and Huss included in the hope he would recover) and subsequently dropped for Ferguson and Krezja.

I'm happy to be proven wrong though.

Yeah it must be difficult to continue to play at a consistently high level when those around you continue to fail. Puts a lot of pressure on him.

Yep, always really liked Vettori.

Should have had NZ out for less and our batsmen were out pretty cheaply (great stumping to get Punter out though)but a decent win. Still can't see us winning the Cup again.
 
Would he get a game?

We've got three pace bowlers and two of them are completely unreliable.

I love O'Keefe though, still thought he should have played the Ashes.
 
I think so far in this tournament spin has shown to be a big deal. We've managed to blast away the crappy teams with our depth, but it's still to be seen whether that will work against the good players. If we bowled like we did tonight against India or SA, they would have smashed us.
 
If they go for another quick James Pattinson could be a good choice. Seen him a couple of times in the Ryobi Cup, am impressed.
Hopefully they don't bring Siddle in, rubbish limited overs bowler.
 
yeah about christian being a better batsmen than bowler but I still reckon he is better than hastings and should have been there.

also, if they are looking for a spinner to come in, I reckon Lyon from SA is the best pick. He bowled awesome in the big bash this year.

And in the other cricket thread, I predicted Australia would win and Johnson would be player of the series. I still stand by that and Johnson is starting to look good...
