In this instance, CA probably supports the move because they're still whinging about being screwed by the scheduling at this world cup.... but its a moot point. They're don't have the votes to change the outcome even if they wanted to.
Also.... cricket isn't the dominant sport over here. Its aussie rules football....and it might not be possible to tie up all the stadiums for a couple of months
therefore less teams and less games.
So utterly confusing. BCCI bought out all cricket boards now? Or ECB wants Irish players? Or ICC just being its plain fucking stupid elitist self.
as mentioned before...... who stands to benefit the most by keeping the associate nations weak?
the BCCI
In other words India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe are solid bum chums..... they always vote together.
Ireland has been the dominant associate nation for several years and are knocking on the door for full ICC membership.....
Zimbabwe has Test status and receives many millions of dollars a year in funding while associate nations get peanuts in comparison. Yet Ireland is ranked number 10 ahead of them and will face losing their corporate sponsorships because they have been denied their rightful place.
so why the fuck has Zimbabwe been given automatic entry and Ireland kicked out?
maybe its because Zimbabwe has friends in high places?
If you don't believe me.....here is a quote from the Telegraph a couple of years ago when Ireland first launch their bid for full ICC membership
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/cr...relands-cricketers-apply-for-Test-status.html
Full-member status would also make them eligible for a greater share of ICC handouts they have received significantly less than teams they have beaten and outperformed, such as Zimbabwe and Bangladesh. Bangladesh were the last team to be awarded Test status in 2000 but it took them 35 matches to win.
Crucially, however, Bangladesh's promotion tipped the balance of political power in favour of the sub-continental bloc and any attempt to change this, which could happen if Ireland were handed full voting rights, might be met with fierce resistance.
"I don't see this as a political decision," said Deutrom. "I hope our application is taken on its merits and trust the decision will be taken on our ability. We know it will be a long process, but we are prepared to be patient in order to show our ambition."
I think kicking them out of the world cup would satisfy the criteria of fierce resistance
