Found this while I was looking for Ico info. Does anyone know what it is?

I know that Ludologica is working on a book on Ico, but it won't be out for another few months. Is this something like it?

It's a novelization. Covers the backstory of the events leading up to Ico's ostracization and his village in general, and then narrates the events of the first game.

I was just reading about it the other day, reading that it was not officially sanctioned, but that Miyuki was dead set on writing the novel anyway.

Yes, this is a novelization as mentioned by brandonn.

There's been mixed reviews among fans though. Some say the characters (including Yorda!) talk too much and that loses the magic. However, this is written by well-renown writer Miyabe Miyuki, so the writing itself is top notch.
