Is id Games... id as in ego, id and super ego. Or is it I D games? I've always thought it was I D. Pronounced ai-dee.

Is id Games...
It is id Software, not Games.
And as already said, yes, "id".
The company writes its name with a lowercase id, which is pronounced as in "did" or "kid", and, according to the book Masters of Doom, the group identified itself as "Ideas from the Deep" in the early days of Softdisk but that, in the end, the name 'id' came from the phrase "in demand".[9] It is presented by the company as a reference to the id, a psychological concept introduced by Sigmund Freud. Evidence of the reference can be found as early as Wolfenstein 3D with the statement "that's id, as in the id, ego, and superego in the psyche" appearing in the game's documentation. Prior to an update to the website, id's History page made a direct reference to Freud.[10]
Don't feel bad OP, I called that one studio Imagee Pooch for like a year
but I believe the meaning it settled upon was a combination of factors:
I pronounced it "EYE DEE" as a kid, but once I heard that it was actually id, like id, ego, superego, I've pronounced it that way since.

I said "Bethseda" instead of Bethesda for the longest time. Since I'm not from the US I didn't know it was named after a place.
I called them I.D. for over a decade, but I finally learned the correct pronunciation like two years ago and I've been saying "id" since.
I refuse to pronounce "GIF" the correct way, though![]()
Going I D over id is more habit on my part. It's definitely one of those things I want to do right because I just don't see a good reason to go counter like with GIF (fuck's sake look at gift, and the English language is already too much of a mess.)I called them I.D. for over a decade, but I finally learned the correct pronunciation like two years ago and I've been saying "id" since.
