id Software's RAGE is free on Steam untill Sunday

Fuck that game.

Last game I'll ever buy from id Software. I've had a far, FAR better experience with Battlefield 4 so far, despite the bugs and server crashes/disconnects than I EVER did with RAGE.

If I knew what I knew about then about RAGE but hadn't bought it, not only would I not download it for free, I wouldn't download it even if they threw in every other game they've ever made.

id Software was washed up a long time ago.

I love how abruptly the game ends. You just sit in your seat going...wtf?

Very disappointing but not a bad game. Considering how the open world aspect turned out, it's too bad they didn't scrap it early on to make more shoot em up stages. A straight shooter with actual DM MP would have been really sweet.

I paid full price and I had allot of fun. I expected something to the length of borderlands, but its 12 hours so it was a bit disappointing in that regard, would this have been communicated better I am sure it would have been better received. The game looks amazing, plays great and was pretty damn entertaining. I think its well worth the time!

It's a free weekend for a game that I hear is somewhat short and I have no bandwidth cap? Of course I'm downloading, shit ending or not. I hear it has amazing gunplay from everybody.

Edit: My download just completed too.

RAGE could have been so much more. Instead I feel like I played a tech demo.

Also, this was released the same day as Dark Souls, IIRC.

WAy underrated game IMO. I had a great time with it.

Also, I just upgraded my ISP Package today to go from 30Mbits to 60Mbits...maybe I should download it tonight just to see the speed lol.

Man fuck you guys hating on this game.

I had a lot of fun with RAGE. The shooting mechanics are indeed top notch and make the rest of the game really fun. As empty as the hub areas felt, I still think the art direction was really good if you got the textures to work right (read: played the PC version and fucked around with AMD drivers). I can't remember the last time I gave a shit about the storyline in a shooter.

I just think it's a really good FPS. Megatextures were probably a bit ahead of their time when RAGE launched. Consoles and most people's PCs just didn't have the RAM for it.

Its one of those "I've got nothing else to play" kinda games, just an overall meh experience. Oh, and the ending is one of the worst I've ever seen.

This is the impression I got playing it, sure some things were hit or miss like textures but the experience was pretty satisfying

Ugh, I paid full price for this game when it came out. Was fun for a few hours but the ending sucks and the game itself is ultimately forgettable.

Aw man I clicked the thing that said I was born 10 months ago and now I can't play this.

I got Rage twice, first time got a steam refund (game was unplayable on ati), second time in a sale, played a bit, and ... i feel divisive about it even within myself. The graphics are unique and great, but also shitty beyond belief, and the gunplay is awesome, but framed between shitty fetch quests and driving segments.

As a company ID sits on 3 of the best fps ever made, Doom, Quake and Quake3, all 3 the epitomes of their style (and in the case of Doom and Quake, flavors nobody was able to replicate, Doom is STILL the funniest fps, and Quake1's atmosphere and bleakness is still incredible), and yet they acted for the last 2 games like an also-ran company, trying to catch System Shock and... whatever they were trying with Rage. It's as if Nintendo decided point-blank that they are bad at videogames and should churn out clones of Ratchet and Clank to catch up.
