If you're referring to the Monkey Island 1 Special Edition, that's a LucasArts internal project, which is separate from Tales of Monkey Island (the new game we're working on). So maybe your question should be "WHAT DID YOU DO TO THE ENTIRE MONKEY ISLAND FRANCHISE???????" but surely you won't ask that, because the game will be cool.

Also, a guy named LuigiHann posted this image in the Telltale forum and it cracks me up.

Anyway if anyone doesn't know, there's a new Monkey Island game coming out, so you should all check that out for sure.

Yeah I was just fucking around. Anyway, I was gonna preorder the MI season so I could get a free episode from S&M S1, but the prices on S&M season one seem off wrt upgrades. Like, an upgrade is listed as more expensive than the regular DVD release. Known issue?

Well, Curse of Monkey Island defined Guybrush for a lot of people (including myself). So the change was really abrupt. It would be like seeing iconic characters like Bugs Bunny, Homer Simpson or Mickey Mouse being redrawn.

But it doesn't look like we're getting another 2D MI, so people are going to have to put aside their nostalgia for the old titles and evaluate the new ones based on their own merits.

I genuinely don't like the special edition character design, on its own merits. If it weren't a Monkey Island game, I still wouldn't like it.
