If EA is so hated, why can't gamers kill it?

How do you explain them being rated worst company in america multiple times though?

They have a lot of shitty business practices and have had (maybe still do) bad customer support.

But most people don't give a shit and they still make gigantic profits. Tons of people hate corporations like Wal-mart, McDonalds etc. and they still make huge profits.

For the most part, being hated by a vocal minority (and only a vocal minority report things to the better business bureau, or respond to worst company surveys etc.) is irrelevant to big companies. It can kill a medium sized company and definitely a small one, but the huge ones with mainstream appeal are mostly immune as average folk just don't give much of a shit about business practices. They'll buy EA games as they have fun playing Madden, Fifa etc. and don't keep up with the things that get them rated poorly and they'll shop at Wal-mart and Eat at McDonalds despite their shitty pay of employees and bad services as the prices are low.

So at least we're clear on the EA is bad part? Because your post sounded like you don't agree with the vocal minority. Also I doubt its a vocal minority when bf5 tanked so hard and due to the fact that they caved so heavily for battlefront 2.

Most corporations are "evil" in the sense that they care about nothing but making as much money and profit for themselves and their share holders as possible. So yes, we agree on that.

It's definitely a vocal minority overall, but not always. For Battlefront 2 they just went to far even for the casual players with how monetized and grindy the game was. For BF5 I think that was two things. 1) They catered to the "diversity" crowd when that's not the market for war games. People on sites like ResetEra mostly play single player games (as polls there show) and aren't a big part of the market for shooters--much less war focused ones. Conversely, there's a reason why shooters are the worst for slurs, shit talking etc. They appeal to that crowd way more than to the "social justice" crowd. 2) It just came out at a bad time. CoD had their hyped new battle royale mode, Fortnight is still huge, PUBG is smaller but still very larger. Shooter fans only have so much time to game and Battlefield has always been second fiddle to CoD and now has even more competition.

EA is by far the most hated game company, and probably the most hated company, period, in the world.
So...why won't it die?
I mean, it should be within the power of gamers to shutdown this blight on gaming if they so choose.
Why can't gamers simply vote with their dollars, and stop buying EA games? Why keep buying their shit so they can keep screwing us over and over again for eternity?
I think maybe EA has survived this long because they simply had too much money and gamers are just too dumb...but I think by now...EVERYONE should have gotten the hint that EA sucks, right?....
If you keep buying EA games, what is your excuse?

Because I liked some of their IPs. And I Don't really understand why should I wish EA dead ? Because it's a bad company ? Or because it's a hated company ? Says who ? A dude, somewhere, I Don't know. And how exactly EA is screwing you ? Like when an EA game is released, a dude pops in your living room at night and tells you with an ominous voice "you must buy this game or else I will be haunting you for the rest of your life !". EA isn't screwing you because if you Don't like EA, there's absolutely no pressure on you to buy their games. You just Don't. When an EA game Doesn't interest me, I Don't buy it, when it does, I buy it. Simple as that. I Don't need EA to be dead and I sure Don't give a fuck if it's a good or bad company, I have no opinion on this, like I have no opinion on Heinz. I just like their Ketchup, so I buy it.

Yeah, this is a good example of what I was getting at.

Most people don't give a fuck how their sausage is made, just that it tastes good and is priced right for them.

Same with EA. Most people buy Fifa or Madden or whatever and play it a ton and have a lot of fun and never have any issues with it. Why would they boycott EA? They got a product that they got great value out of for their money. Most people aren't "woke" and don't give a shit that some people ruin their lives on spending their income on shitty ultimate team stuff or that EA has terrible customer service that they never contact or that Chick-Fil-A donated money to anti-gay causes and so on. People mostly just want good value for what they buy and if they get that then they couldn't care less about anything else related to that product or the corporation that produces it.

This has to be the most gross underestimation of mass appeal I've ever seen. Football lovers love fifa. They aren't aware that 60 dollars should get you a lot more than updated rosters though. I mean a lot of people still saw the prequel Star Wars films. Doesn't mean they were good.

Have you ever played FIFA? It's hardly only updated rosters. There are a bunch of balances and improvements to the gameplay, and now there's a nifty single player rpg campaign.

That's the reason it's hard to compete with FIFA, it's that freaking good and keeps on improving every year.

Yeah, people online hate them. Your average hardcore gamer usually hates sports, so yeah, of course they will. Doesn't mean most of EA's player base does.

This is one of those examples of people confusing social media with the world itself. Most aren't engaged like people on forums are. The complaints about EA aren't even on the periphery for an average user. Think about all the non-controversies recurring on Twitter that almost no one outside of it is aware of.

In any business it's not important if your customers love you. If they're willing to pay is what matters. Let us be realistic EA is NOT the industry's darling but they sure as hell know how to do business

A company getting "killed" requires the less invested, middle of the road customers quietly losing interest. These are not the people on forums or commenting on Cleanprince and Downward Thrust YouTube videos. As hilarious as the PR gaffes have been with BFV, releasing an unfinished game after BO4, RDR2, right before Black Friday deal frenzies, is the reason the price dropped so severely, so fast. The people causing a real headache for EA aren't even talking about the game in a negative light, they're just busy with better games that shipped with more content.

EA has the money to insulate itself from low consumer sentiment - as long as they can afford the rights to NFL, FIFA, Star Wars, etc. they can ship products that face no real competition. Their internal development of in house properties is getting bad though. Mass Effect Andromeda, the total lack of a Dead Space equivalent, Mirrors Edge Catalyst flopping... I'm not really sure the company could survive long term based on owned properties the way Activision and Ubisoft do. They're pretty easy to ignore these days though. They just don't publishers many interesting titles, so you're less likely to have to reconcile supporting a shitty company.

Yep. Like I said, most people aren't "woke." They're busy as hell and just living their lives and spending money on things that bring them enjoyment in between all the bullshit of life. They don't give a shit about the business practices of the companies providing them that enjoyment. They just care that it's priced right for the value and entertainment they get from the product.

Most woke people are hypocrites anyway. They'll do things like bitch online about crunch at Rockstar, while posting that from a phone (and playing other games on their console/pc) or other hardware made by overworked, underpaid, Chinese factory workers that are a few steps above slaves.

Unless you live a very barren life, you're going to be giving a lot of your money to shitty corporations that do shitty things. And any boycotting you do is going to have zero real impact on change unless it's some smaller business as again most people don't give a shit and the companies will still make huge profits.

I've played fifa. And yes it is mostly roster updates. And its got a basic level of quality. All their games have a basic level of quality established by their developers years ago. They just reuse the same code year on year. But the reason they are hated are more due to completely different reasons, and you defending them just means either you have some stake in EA or you're severely out of touch. Also do some research on how they became worst company in america. It has jacksquat to do with fanboys lol.

So, nothing when they switched to Frostbite as their engine? Nothing about improvements to AI routines? I guess adding a significant multi hour single player campaign like The Journey means nothing to you.

Come on, you honestly sound like you are 12 and don't understand how software development works. Of course there will be a lot of reused code, it's senseless to rewrite the core game logic for a yearly product. I mean, you probably dislike sports, so I'm sorry if I doubt your claim.

Let's put some perspective to this most hated company thing. You have corporations like Monsanto, who terrorize farmers with their business practices, or companies that create oil spills. Hell, you have private military companies, private jail services and so on. EA is a company that makes videogames.

I remember this whole most hated corporation thing was a poll of some sort, and a bunch of sad dweebs decided to gang up and make EA the most hated company.

Not to say that they haven't done some bad things and rightfully so they have gotten backlash for it, especially the silly identity politics stuff they injected into BFV.

However, even that is nowhere close to even a single oil spill, and it's a bit pathetic that people want to make a videogame company as THE WORST!!

Or NHL

Or The Sims

Or Need For Speed

Or those cult favorite IPS like Burnout and Skate.
Burnout is the best thing to ever come out of EA. But it's hardly keeping EA afloat recently. I agree on the Sims though, that's an enormous franchise and one that should basically print money for very low effort.

Hardcore gamers hate it but causuals don't give a shit.
Thus it floats on and it will.

This is the same reason why something like Hello Kitty exists.

I do my part to try to kill EA. I have not bought any of their games in at least 5 years, i can absolutely say i am not of the say something but do nothing gamers.

I don't really care. If the game appeals to me, I buy it. If it doesnt, I don't.
They tend to have IPs that I enjoy.....so it is what it is.

Im willing to bet most people have a similar mindset based on how they sell.

My point was that EA is sitting on IPS people actually want to see new entries in so if things were going south EA could jsut throw out a new Skate or Burnout after not having new entries for awhile and that would guarantee millions of sales.

The other franchises while not as big as they used to are still pretty big. NFS payback sold more in it's first few months than most racers sold in a year and that was considered a flop game.

100% agree. Most grown ass people (not whiny little bitches) don't give a shit. If a game is full of bullshit greedy practices, then we simply don't purchase it or support it.. There is enough games out there aside from EA. I enjoyed Titanfall quite a bit, and still play madden every now and again. Most people with a life don't have time to spend putting up post after post about how EA is the devil. If you think EA is the devil wait until you get out into the real world and deal with real issues. Also, I would be curious to see how many EA haters pick up Anthem when its released.

I truly think most of them are 12. They picture EA as their version of team rocket.
