If PS3 and Wii come out the same day...

kinda unrelated but the real question is......

will those pirates strike again and steal a cargo between Japan and China.

will they steal a ps3 or the Wii shipment... ?

mmmm im guess Wii as they would probably sink the boat if they tried to steal ps3.:lol

of course Wii ! This is Why !

Wii (est. $200.00) + 8 Games ($50.00 x 8 = $400.00) = $ 600.00

Playstation 3 $600.00 + No Games = $ 600.00

Oh I hate to be a jerk but I think this thread is dumb.

Then again I just hate poll threads. Especially ones that don't offer a free dinner at Olive Garden.

Wii for sure.

I figure I can get enough out of the Wii and 360 combo for a while that I could wait for at least a year on the PS3. I probably won't though, I'll probably get both on their respective launch days (they will be different).

Any, you know, reasoning to go with that?

it'd be somewhat less dumb if people would talk a bit about *why* they're making one call or the other.

i'd be curious how many more people would get a ps3 if both it and wii were $300 (given what we currently know about the launch lineups). *lots* of folk mentioning price when suggesting they won't be grabbing a ps3 at launch.

Wii. I'm a very happy 360 owner right now and don't need another system like it. A new system that mixes a new control system with Nintendo games and a low price, though. It's interesting enough to pick up and try out even if I did have serious issues with both the 64 and Gamecube.

None. I'm not getting a PS3 until a pricedrop and I'm not getting a Wii until it's confirmed that it's not a ****ing failure(not gonna make that mistake again!).

And they were comparable graphically? Otherwise it's a really dumb question. If a system with Xbox level visuals was given a new control scheme and Nintendo games would you pay $300 for it? How about a system with better visuals than an Xbox 360, a Blu-ray player, and a 60 Gig hard drive for the same price?

My #1 rule when dealing with Sony is to never buy first generation hardware. Ever. (Even if I theoretically had 600$ to spend.)

However, Nintendo has waggle. I'm still rather ambivalent about it.

So I guess I'd be home playing DS? :P

Alright I was wrong. The thread was fine before this post..now it's dumb.

I don't plan on buying the PS3 till Metal Gear Solid 4 comes out.

It's only fitting. I didn't give a shit about the PS2 until I played Metal Gear Solid 2, which sold the system for me.

I'll be getting the Wii first. I don't own an HDTV yet so I really wouldn't be getting the full effect of the 360 or PS3. I have two kids so I think we would have much more fun with the Nintendo console, not to mention there is no way I would let my 10 year old son close to the $600 PS3. :lol

well... i'm probably going to end up with both anyway, so it's not so much a dumb question for me. at launch, the wii is looking like it will provide more entertainment value (by far) than the ps3 will (at launch). yeah - i hear you're "paying for potential" with the ps3...

the ps3 launch lineup isn't really interesting me much, i don't need/care about blu-ray movies (i hardly watch any dvds as it is), and don't have an hdtv or plans to acquire one in the near future.

Oh, please. I'm just wondering how that question made any sense.

Here are two questions that would make sense to me.

1. Would you be a lot more interested in the PS3 if it wasn't quite so expensive? If it launched at Xbox 360 prices would you buy it over the Wii?

2. Ignoring price and graphics capabilities, which system captures your interest more? Wii with its new control device or the PS3 with its proven software support?

It doesn't. This is just one of those threads you have to leave everything alone. You're not going to get good answers out of "PS3" and "Wii" so there's no reason to pursue it.

Is it money? Of course. If everyone could afford every system there wouldn't be system wars. People defend/attack consoles because by buying the system they are staking a claim, a territory if you will and they will defend that purchase to the bitter end. If it isn't money..well I don't see the point then because all three consoles have/will have some awesome games and if you have the opportunity to play them all I don't see why not.

So in short...

what you expected me to say something here?

In this hypothetical question, if I had to choose one at launch, it's PS3 time. I'm pretty stoked about the PS3, even though in actuality I probably won't get one till next year. Yeah the high pricepoint blows, but if online is delivered Xbox Live style it is going to be the ultimate system. It'll have the best from the east and the west, full BC with PS2 (which is important to me. More important than PS1 BC on PS2), with a great online service, sign me up.

I've been watching Sony closely ever since they said they wanted to continue to support the PS2 well, even in the face of the PS3 launch. And at the moment I am really impressed that they are actually delivering on that promise. So if I do end up spending 500 to 600 dollars on a Playstation 3, I actually believe that the purchase will last me around 8 to 10 years.

I'll be in the DS section, looking at games instead of hardware. :o

But seriously, I'll get a Wii, just not at launch--there's nothing I want that's not on the Virtual Console (which of course will be available indefinitely and probably won't change in price). When SSBB, Fire Emblem, or Mario Galaxy come out, or when Metroid Prime 3, Pangya Golf, and Budokai Tenkaichi 2 hit $20, we can talk.

If I had to buy at launch, it'd be PS3. However, I'll likely wait until any hardware problems have been isolated and addressed before picking up the system.

Same goes for Wii - I'll wait on it, but the wait won't be as hard. I want Zelda, and the price point is low enough to justify buying the console for the announced titles alone; but I'm unconvinced on the controller, both in terms of its functionality and the enjoyment I'll get from its use.

So I'll grab a PS3 as soon as I know it's working as advertised, and decide one way or the other on the Wii whenever I get a chance to try it out.

I really think there are going to be mass riots for the PS3 across the globe. At that price, places will be broken into and machines will be stolen. Real wrath-of-god type stuff. Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies. Rivers and seas boiling. Forty years of darkness. Earthquakes, volcanoes... The dead rising from the grave. Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria!

Neither. I'm not rich enough to experience "Living" (nor do I care for a single announced exclusive), and I have no interest in purchasing a console with 5 yr old graphics that will be around for 5 more years. I haven't liked Nintendo games since SNES, anyway.

But even if I could get one, I wouldn't, at least not at launch. There is much to be explained, how can you plop down money on a machine when you don't know the specifics of what you will and won't be able to do (or have to pay for?).

Ah, well. Carry on!

PSWii

I'd be in the PS3 line. Has there even been a single decent looking Wii game displayed yet?

If M$ phases out the retard pack and drops the price of the core system to $299 that's the line I'll be in with GoW and Mass Effect in hand.
