PS3 - Make PSN download prices with fake currencies. Make online play a payable service.

Wii - Raise the price of the platform a bit. It selling so much anyway!

360 - Internal HDDVD Drive. Waggle Controller.
The bold part is a horrible idea.

PS3 -- adopt the religious faith with a deity most likely to listen to my prayers and make my platform viable

Wii -- immediately cancel it, send apologies to all gamers for the hardware design and the waggle, kick the non-gamers and casuals out of the hobby, and go third-party for the 360

360 -- make Live free; allow more freedom for developers to control content pricing; future units should all include wifi built in

System X: Do nothing

System Y: Make it more like my favourite system, System X

System Z: Change the one feature that makes system Z unique so that it's more like my favourite system, System X.

Since the industry will then be filled with stuff I like, it will be sure to make billions and billions in profit. :D

Well done.

And He will comply. Sony will create a stripped down PS3 model with full-on waggle and EyeToy games with Home and non-games.

formerly a dumbfuck admin, now just a dumbfuck

Why do you have such a grudge against Sony?

MS: Quit the hardware business, make 'XBox Live' the platform and move it to PC (like Steam, but offering Live Arcade, Full titles, Music and Video), Drop the 'Games for Windows' branding, switch to 'XBox'; drop the Windows Media Center Edition (or whatever the current similar version is), replace with Windows XBox Edition with media center and gaming focus & interface (refined blade system) and let the Dell's /HP's / Custom SFF PC builders of this world take the heat with the hardware aspect, push and certify a minimum graphics card spec that has HDMI out, and certify the whole shebang as digitally protected. Keep the benefits of the platform, but lose the lossmaking and image damaging hardware problems. Bonuses include previous experience from WMC, already owning the servers to make it happen.

Sony: Start paying for exclusives again, and aggressively. Write off as a one-time cost (like the 360 RROD replacement program one-time write off) a recall and replace program to replace Sixaxis controllers with DS3's. Sell 'at cost' or even a small loss, worry about profits in another 10-15million user's time. Make 1 SKU and stick with it.

Nintendo: Get out a true 'next gen' handheld. No novel control methods or extra screens. Go HD as soon as possible, but actually have a raft of games ready to go with the launch of the next console.

In all honesty, if I were either in charge of Sony or Microsoft, I would actively pursue a Sony-Microsoft console. Sony knows how to make hardware, Microsoft knows how to make software, the two combined (along with all the franchises together on one platform) would be ridiculously sweet. Both X and Y axis inversion would be in the TRC. Then once I made that happen I would campaign internally against complacency

If I were in charge of Nintendo I would read the internet and release the games people keep asking for so they would shut up already

360: Agree with Gowan - Free Xbox Live/Gamerpics/Themes. Make exclusive pics/themes that come with the games themselves and unlocked via achievements. Bundle a frigging HD in every SKU. Eliminate HD space limitations on Xbox Live Arcade and all downloadable content.

PS3: Multi-tasking in the XMB, in-game chat, cross-game invites and player pages (like MyXbox.com). Bundle a headset/Multiplayer game with every premium SKU.

Wii: Revised SKU with wireless nunchucks and the best damn HD scaler in the world. They don't need the games to go HD, they just need them to look un-fuckered on a good HD set.

What I would do (not really console maker specific):

1. Create a development environment that is stable, scalable, and that would be used through multiple generations of the console - no more having to re-invent the wheel every generation.

2. Find out what the most efficient hardware/memory/graphics configuration is most efficient for development and build that

3. Develop great tools, SDK, for this hardware, and make tools available for all developer levels - garage/individual, independent, corporate

4. Make a deal with Flash to distribute flash-based games to the console

5. Create a totally integrated online system with system-wide features such as player parties, match lobbies, clans, etc.
