If you could erase one game from your memory and play it again for the first time...

Persona 4.

I went in after watching some segments of the Giant Bomb Endurance Run (since that was what convinced to pick up the game in the first place) so I was already spoiled on a few plot points. It is still my favorite game ever, but it'd be even greater if I'd gone in totally clean.

Unoriginal choice, but Metal Gear Solid. Can't really explain it, but it's the only game to me that has ever mastered the sort of "flash foward", where numerous times they flashed to the Rex in the hangar, and you know you're going to get there, but you have to work your way there first. Finally getting to Rex in the hangar felt good.

Super Mario Brothers. I was lucky that my city was one of the original test markets for the NES back in 85. All of my older brothers still lived at home and my oldest brother bought the system and game not too long after release. That day holds a special place in my memory. My whole family all crowded around the TV and just in awe of the game. The leap from Atari 2600/5200 to NES was just incredible. You never once questioned anything you did in the game; they nailed the feeling of controlling Mario so perfectly that even to this day it still astounds me, especially when so many other games can't even manage to get that right. I know for a fact I will never have that feeling again, but there have been a few games that have come close.

I do have to say Chronotrigger is a damn close second though.

Actually, now that I think about it, as much as I love Demon's Souls, I would have to pick Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Discovering every secret, every broken wall, every dropped weapon (I'm looking at you, Rune Sword!) for the first time again would just be epic.

Links Awakening.
Would love wandering around trying to figure out how to get the key to the first dungeon again.

Shadow of Colossus. Especially if its the HD remake. Anyone picking that set up for their first time are going to be in for a real treat.

Okami, Demon's Souls, Metal Gear Solid, Halo, Crackdown, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and A Link to the Past, to name a few.

I love people who post 2 or more games, when it clearly says "one game" in the thread title. Even more funny when it's a list with nearly 10 games.

As for me, i don't know... it's tough when there is soo many good games. But i would probably go with something like Goldeneye. So many good memories for this game. Although i'm sure if i would play this game for the 1st time in 2010, i would think it sucks.

I feel really young now :(

I first played Chrono Trigger last year, and won't have played Ocarina of Time before the 3DS version.

But anyway, Pokémon Red. The first game I ever played (about 5 or 6 years after it actually came out; my parents weren't too keen on the idea of video games), and despite the technically superior newer games, the classics still have some kind of magic about them. I'd love to go back and play that as a naive kid without the foggiest clue about gaming.

I've just started Pokémon Trading Card Game on GBC!

MGS3, but I'd have to erase the last 6 years of gaming too so it doesn't seem like the controls are cumbersome as shit.

i find it interesting so many people are picking games that are easily just as fun the 1000th time you play as it was the first (crackdown, demon's souls, symphony of the night, etc). i understand the process of discovery is always amazing, but games like those are fairly consistent with the delivery of their experience. leveling a character from 1-60 the first time in WoW wasn't entirely different than the 4th, and in some ways was less fun since i was so uneducated about how the game worked.

Demon's Souls... because i had spoiled way too much of it beforehand :( many of the bosses were shown in trailers etc. and of course also because it is magnificent.

also Silent Hill 2.

If I could erase one game from memory and play it over again from scratch:

Planescape: Torment

Now, if I could essentially rewind all my gaming memories back in time:

DOOM

They're all from Utah

Shenmue

Runner up: Metal Gear Solid.
Coincidently if I could erase one game from memory and never play it again (pretend it never happened) it would be MGS2 :(

Trails in the Sky Second Chapter.

Torn between this and Zero no Kiseki for a while but eventually went for SC. So jealous of everyone who's going to be playing this series for the first time in English next year.

Team Fortress 2, first time playing this and getting sucked into the zany cartoony world and over the top memorable characters was truly memorable. Amazing game.

Or

Warhawk, I remember saying to myself, how any game could be so fluid online and the epic battles I witnessed when I first logged in. Great stuff.

Silent Hill 2

That game was in my head for weeks after I completed it. It was the most terrifying experience of my life. To have that experience again--fresh--would be amazing.

My first time experiencing SOCOM online. Will never forget playing Frostfire as a terrorist and getting killed by a grenade at the start.

That is a good damn choice.

I still gotta import the second Japanese DS game :/

I also just remembered I haven't played--and will probably never play--Captain Rainbow :(

How text heavy is the DS game? If it's anywhere near the first game I wouldn't be able to play it :(

That said, going upstairs for the first time again would be awesome.
